Figure 1: plan de la machine;
Figure 2: élévation;
Figure 3:vue de lace.
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

"Cutting machine for glass, cardboard, paper, etc."
The object of the present invention is a machine for cutting summer sheets or plates, of large dimensions of various substances, such as glass, cardboard, paper, etc., the movement of the tool on the lines. to be cut being obtained after adjustment by simple action of the worker on a steering wheel.
The new machine, which we will call type I, operates according to the principles described in the main patent and its construction consists essentially in simplifying, in order to adapt them to work on small dimensions, the mechanisms of the type II machine described in the main patent.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
We give below by way of example, with reference to the figures of the appended drawing, the description of an arrangement preferably adopted for the construction of the new machine.
Figure 1: plan of the machine;
Figure 2: elevation;
Figure 3: lace view.
The machine is essentially composed of a table for depositing the sheets or plates to be cut, of a frame :, guides of the movement and of the tool. The work table 1, made of wood, supports the two cast iron side members 2 which are terminated by a sole bolted to the table 1 by bolts 17. These side members are braced by bars 3; on these bars 3 a double bush 4 is fixed in which one of the guide bars of the tool slides. The movement is guided by the third cross member 3 of the frame and by a bar 5 terminated by a cast iron bush 6 and which can slide in the double bush 4. The tool comprises the graduated adjustment bar, the handwheel and the actual tool.
The adjustment bar, similar to that of type II and type ni machines, is made up of two graduated rectangular slats 7, connected by an axis and arranged in the same plane.
On the upper slat is fixed a stop 18. The axis which connects the cross members, can pivot through the pad 6 carried by the bar 5. The upper slat can slide or slide through a guide tainure ending at its lower part an axis 8, This axis 8 pivots in a double bearing 9 which serves as a bearing and which can slide along the upper bar 3. On the axis 8 is threaded a spring 19 and at its end the handwheel 10 is fixed, provided with an operating button 11 and a counterweight to this button 12. The tool itself comprises the vernier slide 13, sliding on the lower slat of the bar 7 and in which the tool holder 14 engages to which the tool is attached
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
actual cutter 15, which will be, depending on the case, a wheel, a knife etc.
The machine thus described operates as follows:
For cutting straight lines, the sliding pad 9 is brought into the axis of the machine, which causes the tool-leg bar to become parallel to the bar 5 and it suffices to impart to the latter a movement. translation to describe the straight line proposed, the tool being guided by the slide 8. To describe circles, the tool holder being brought to the appropriate position on the lower slat of the graduated bar, the saddle is brought up to in contact with stop 18 with slide 8, Qe which locates the coincidence of axis 7 Based on axis 8. The rotational movement imparted to the handwheel causes the tool to describe the proposed circle .
Finally, to draw elliptical curves in accordance with the principles set out in the main patent, the upper slat of the graduated bar is oaled by means of clamping screws at the appropriate distance from the guide groove 8 and the tool holder 13 is wedged at the correct position on the lower part of the batten. A rotational movement imparted to the steering wheel has the effect of causing the bar 5 in the double bearing 4 and of the double bearing 9 to move along the bar 3, at the same time as the tool describes the requested ellipse.
