<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

SPARK PLUG FOR EXPLOSION ENGINES "
The present patent application relates to a spark plug for internal combustion engines in general, in particular for motorcycle and automobile engines, having the great advantage of including a device allowing the cleaning of the electrodes without removing the spark plug. .
For this purpose, the central electrode is provided at its end with a conical tip.
A return spring urges the electrode upwards by the amount of the necessary spacing between the electrodes.
. A button integral with the rod makes it possible to compress the spring and then by turning this button the central electrode is driven which, when lowered, rubs on the other electrode in
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
two or more parts and cleans them. when the button is released, the center electrode returns to its normal position and is ready for operation.
In order to bring out the above description more clearly, the appended drawings represent: FIG. 1 a sectional elevation in a spark plug established in accordance with the object of the invention.
Fig.Z an external view of fig.l.
Referring to the figures above-, 1 represents the base of the spark plug, 2 the ground electrodes ;, 4 the central electrode or rod comprising a conical end 13, a valve seat 14, a bearing surface 15 receiving an operating button ±, finally at 11 a nut and at 12 the eorou knurled for fixing the cable.
At 3 there is a porcelain ring separated at 16, by layers of mica or other suitable insulation, from another ring or sleeve 5, at the upper end of which is engaged a guide ring 9 on which the spring 8 is supported by one of its ends, the other end of which abuts on the annular bottom of the internal cavity of the ring 5, As can be seen, see fig. 1, part 14 of the rod 4 forms a valve in the housing of the ring 5.
At 6 is shown the tightening nut of the rings 3 and 5, made of porcelain or other suitable material :. Openings 17 are also provided in the ring 5, to possibly introduce through these orifices, gasoline which flows along the central rod 4, when a push on the button 9 or 12 compresses the spring 7. , takes off the valve 14 from its seat and thus allows gasoline or the like to reach the engine.
The operation of such a candle is easily understood as follows! when the electrodes 2 and 13 are clogged, button 9 is pressed and it is rotated. In this way the rod 4, the end of which and that 13 is established rigorously- @
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
ment in relation to those of the electrodes 8, s * lowers, rubs on them and cleans them.
After this operation, the button 9 is released, and the rod 4 returns to its normal position see fig.l under the valve of the spring 7.
One of the great advantages is to allow the electrodes to be broken in with the engine running without any disassembly *
If after a certain time the gap between the electrodes 13 and 2 becomes too great it suffices to remove at 16 one or more layers of mica or the like to take up the wear of the electrodes. and thus return to the normal distance; it is possible to have two or more electrodes such as 3, so as to obtain automatic centering of the conical end 13, of the central rod 4.
It goes without saying that one can envisage other details or constructive methods and that the example given in fig. 1 and 2, appears only by way of explanation and not limiting one embodiment of the object of the invention * CLAIMS
