<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
gonale 21, permettant de le faire tourner facilement et s'a- '. ratant sur un'? portée hexagonale 22 ménagée dans le corps de la vis, 3O..1 .e on le voit plus clairement fig. 6 ;
La surface extérieure du collier ou élément d'encli- quetage 28 est hexagonale et peut coulisser dans une glis- sière de même forme 32 ménagée à l'intérieur du manchon 33;
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

-, easy ion, in which the moving parts are enclosed and can be lubricated in an efficient manner.
Other objects and characteristics of the invention will be seen by referring to the description, as well as to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Fig. 1 is a view partly in elevation, partly in section, of one of the embodiments of the invention @
Fig, 2 is a partial horizontal section of a part of the device of fig. 1.
Figs. 3,4,5 are views in vertical section of the device of FIG. 2, taken along lines 3-3, 4-4, and 5-5 of the latter, and assumed to be viewed in the direction of the arrows,
Fig. 6 is a view partly in section, partly in elevation, of a variant of one of the members shown in FIG. 2.
In the device shown, the brakes are mounted so as to be operated by brake pedals of standard construction, respectively connected to the dead lever 11 and to the attack lever 12, the attack lever being actuated by a rod 13.
At the lower end of the dead lever 11 is hinged an internally threaded yoke 14, while at the lower end of the drive lever 12 is also hinged another yoke 16, these yokes 14 and 16 being connected. between them by a connection screw 17 screwed at one of the ends in the qhape 14 (see fig. 1).
The other end of the connection screw 17 engages in the yoke 16 and comprises towards its end an annular groove 18; a bolt 19 passes through the yoke 16, tangentially to the screw, and engages in the groove, so as to prevent any movement of these members in the axial direction,
On the screw 17, and at a certain distance from the cap 16, is fixed a collar 20, having a hexagonal part.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
gonale 21, allowing it to be easily rotated and sa- '. missing a '? hexagonal bearing 22 provided in the body of the screw, 3O..1 .e can be seen more clearly in fig. 6;
a pin 23 passing through the collar and the rod keeps them in an invariable position with respect to one another. Necklace
20 is: mini of a rim 24 projecting outwardly and of an annular part 25 forming a support: it has a rim 26 directed longitudinally and covering the part 25, for reasons which will appear later, A sleeve -envelope 33 is arranged so as to be able to turn on part 25 of collar 20 and on yoke 16, both of which are mounted telescopically inside said sleeve.
As seen in fig. 2, the end face of the annular portion 25 of the collar 20 is serrated like a wheel. ratchet so as to present teeth 27. The screw 17 carries a second element 28 having similar teeth which correspond in number and in size to the teeth 27 of the collar 20 and can come into engagement with the latter; a spring 29 surrounding the screw 17, and preferably mounted in grooves 30 and 31 belonging respectively to the collar 28 and to the end of the yoke 16, maintains elastically in engagement the two elements of the snap-fastening thus formed,
The outer surface of the collar or latching element 28 is hexagonal and can slide in a slide of the same shape 32 provided inside the sleeve 33;
so that the collar 28 can rotate with the sleeve on the screw 17 and can further slide so as to move towards or away from the ratchet 25. The handle 33 is provided on the outside with a sleeve 34 receiving the spherical end of one of the arms 35 with an oscillating lever 36 pivotally articulated on the axis 37 connecting the yoke 16
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
at the lower end of the drive lever 12, the other arm of the oscillating lever 36 ends near a hinge pin 38 and is provided with an adjusting finger 39 which can be moved by using a nut 40 so as to bring it closer to or away from the axis 38 on the side opposite to the arm of the lever 36.
The sleeve 33 is slightly widened at one end so as to present an annular shoulder 41 engaging with the shoulder 42 of the yoke 16, so as to avoid any longitudinal movement of the sleeve in one direction, while the stop of the sleeve with the flange 24 of the collar 20 will prevent the sleeve from moving in the opposite direction. A seal 43 is interposed between the end of the sleeve 33 and the flange 26 of the collar 20; another seal 44 is mounted in a groove provided at the other end of the sleeve 33 to ensure the sealing of the contact with the cylindrical part of the connecting piece 16. Lubricating holes 45 and 46 are provided in the yoke 14 and sleeve 33 respectively, and preferably provided with spring-loaded valves preventing the ingress of dirt or moisture.
In the variant of pin 6, the collar 20 has a part 25 a forming a support, of circular cross-section, and a hexagonal extension 25 h. The latching element 47 is formed as a separate part, internally having a hexagonal housing, force-fitted on the extension 25b and held in position by any suitable means.
When the brakes are applied by moving the rod 13 to the right, the movement of the hinge pin 38 to the right stops; the movement of the rod 13 continuing, the axis 37 qe moves towards the
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
left, taking with it the oscillating sink 36. After a given displacement, which depends on the play of the adjusting finger
39, the spherical end 35 of the rocker lever 36 moves green ;. the top, rotating the sleeve 33 and with it the click 28.
If the rotation of this element is greater than the width of one of the teeth 27, the ratchet, the collar 20 and the screw 17 will turn slightly in the opposite direction when the brakes are released; the sleeve 33, the oscillating lever 36 and the lever 12 will be brought back to the. position described freezes 1, and following the screwing of the rod 17 in the yoke 14, the connection between the pins
15 and 37 will be slightly lengthened.
It will be understood that the faces in contact of the elements of the snap-fit, the parts in contact of the movable element of the snap-fit and of its slide, and the bearing surfaces on which the sleeve rotates, as well as the surfaces of the spring support and the parts in contact with the bolt 19 and the groove 18, are all located inside the sleeve-envelope, and can be easily lubricated sufficiently. The air.si device is simple, efficient in operation and can be repaired easily.
It is understood that the present invention is not limited to: - precise details given in the embodiment described and shown, but that various modifications can be made to the latter without departing from it. of the spirit of the invention.
