     L'invention consiste à construire les pavillons de phonographes au moyen de ciment ou de béton ou de plâtre ou de matériaux pierreux analogues,coulé dans des moules et éventuellement armé L'invention sera décrite ci-dessuus avea référence aux

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

  "phonograph pavilions of cast stony material"
The present invention relates to a device intended to increase the sound of phonographs, gramophones and similar devices, by applying the fact that the efficiency of the horn and of the acoustic ducts is all the higher as the walls are less likely to vibrate in resonance. with the transmitted sounds and absorb the energy of the vibrating air. As a result of this the acoustics of the horn are improved by increasing its length and mass, so as to prevent it from vibrating. on the one hand as a result of its increase in weight and, on the other hand, as a result of its increase in rigidity.

     The invention consists in constructing the phonograph pavilions by means of cement or concrete or plaster or similar stony materials, poured in molds and possibly reinforced. The invention will be described above with reference to

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 figures of the appended drawing, which represent, by way of non-limiting example, an embodiment of the invention.

   Figure 1 is an elevational view of a pavilion according to the invention; FIG. 2: another arrangement of this same flag in its boot; FIG. 3: a section along the axis; FIG. 4: a diametral section; Figures 5 and 6 show examples of sections that can be usefully adopted.

   Referring to these figures, it can be seen that the horns can be given, for example, the shape of a spiral starting at 1 by the duct coming from the sound arm carrying the diaphragm and extending by the spiral curve 2 on the long, of which the pavilion gradually increased in section until terminating in a much embouchure. more flared 3. the pavilion is cast in cement, reinforced cement, reinforced concrete, plaster, or any mixture or similar material.

   It will be given any shape appropriate to its intended use and parts intended to receive the support of the movement and of the turntable can possibly be cast with it. The pavilion can be placed in any suitable manner in the box or the phonograph cabinet and in particular have it either with its base plane placed internally, as shown in fig.l, or with its base plane placed above, as shown in fig.2, or according to any other The pavilion will be placed in the box or cabinet by means of suitable fixing devices, possibly it will be possible to embed in the mass, at the time of pouring, blocks and wooden ties,

   or metal intended to receive the frame or the walls of the box and to

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 allow the latter to be mounted directly on the roof. the cross section of the acoustic duct can also be varied in various ways. It may be circular (fig. 5) circular and ribbed (fig. 6) as well as on the side of the mouth the shape of this channel may change
 EMI3.1
 and remain equally e3cular, oval, square, rectangulaâ .: ce, polygonal, etc.

   The execution of such a flag is carried out as follows:
We constitute an outer mold which can be completely dismantled and organized in such a way that it can be used for making an unlimited number of parts. The flared part of the mouthpiece will also be cast around a core intended to be used for an unlimited number of parts. The outer mold and the mouthpiece mold can be made of wood, metal, or even, if one wishes to give the walls of the pavilion a good polish, of glass. The contoured part 2 of the channel will be cast around it. a core of very fusible material, which can be removed after a slight heating of the solidified horn.

   As material suitable for the constitution of this core, one can particularly indicate wax, stearin, gelatin, etc. One can for example use candles or elongated wax candles as found in the trade, bent according to the profile to be given to the horns, as a core for the parsnip 2. The sound arm supporting the reproductive diaphragm, will also be made of the same material as the horn, ie constituting a massive and heavy channel. to keep the needle at normal pressure, the acoustic arm 4 is extended by a part 5, located on the other side of the universal joint or of the ball joint 6, so as to balance the arm 4.

   The arrangement of the universal joint 6 could possibly be supplemented by a hinge or an equivalent device, allowing the arm 4-5 to be turned over for the easy and rapid replacement of the needles. We can

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

 also pour the acoustic arm inside a metal casing intended to increase its strength and improve its appearance. In addition, the counterweight 5, by the fact that it almost doubles the mass of the sound arm, increases its inertia and its resistance to bouncing 1 the result is that one can obtain the same adhesion and the same reproduction fidelity of the sinuosities of the discs by reducing the pressure of the arm on the needle, thus also the wear of the plate.
