Tombereau basculant.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Tipping dumper.
The present invention relates to a dumper the contents of which can be unloaded into a railroad van by lifting the dumper body and tilting it% ', while from vagon to dumper loading can be done by lifting the dumper body. body of the dumper at the height of that of the wagon.
Tipping of the dumper body can be achieved by first lifting it by pivoting around the existing joint near the front edge of its carrier rails, and then pushing this body along its rails to that its middle protrudes a little from the rear edge of the rails; the part overflowing on the outside in front of the heavier than the other part, the body slowly bends outwards

and overturned on the vagon. The dumper body is carried by strong rollers on two U-shaped bars and can be advanced on these bars forming rails for the carrying rollers.
These rails are on one side, articulated with the frame of the tumbler and on the other side, connected by a detachable cross member which penetrates into the lower part of the frame.
The inclination of the supporting rails is produced by means of screw shafts telescoping into each other, and the movement of the body on these rails is obtained by means of cables and capstans.
To unload the dumper into a vagon, the dumper body placed near the vagon is first lifted by including its supporting rails around an axis near the front edge, until this lower edge of the body arrives a little above the upper edge of the vagon. The wedge is then pushed towards its supporting rails until its center protrudes a little from the rear edge of the rails, which causes this body to tilt slowly.
To load into a cart the contents of a wagon, the edge of which is higher than that of the cart; the U-bars which carry the dumper body are oscillated around their axis of rotation until the edges of the two vehicles are at the same height.
The tipping device constituting the invention has the advantage that one can load, without using a ramp, a wagon with very high edges, and that in addition, to unload a wagon into the dumper, one can bring to the same height of the edges of both vehicles without any loss of material occurring during unloading.
When using the new tilting device it is possible to successively load a large number of vagoons; it allows a saving of three men for the daily loading of ten vagoons of fifteen tons;
An example of the execution of the new device is shown.

figure in the attached drawing which indicates: - Fig, I, a motor vehicle and a wagon to be loaded or unloaded, the body of the truck or dumper being in its transport position; - Pig.2, the tipping device after lifting the dumper body and moving it above its supporting rails.
- Fig.3, the automobile truck of figure I seen from the rear end.
The body a of the dumper is carried by means of rollers b, c, d, by two U-shaped rails e; by rolling on its rails, the body can move on them, The rails e are on the one hand, connected by joints f with the frame g of the dumper h and they rest on the other hand, by means of a cross member i in a corresponding part k of the frame g, so that the rails e can oscillate around the joints f. In this way the end of the rails e carried by the cross member i can be lifted,
The oscillation of the rails e is produced in a known way by means of telescoping screw shafts l, m, n, which are turned by means of a crank.
On each side of the dumper there is a capstan p, the cable q of which passes over a pulley r located, on the rear edge of the rails e, and is attached to the pivot s of the body a.
The capstans p fitted with rollers and stops allow the body a to be moved along the rails e, until the central rollers o have reached the end of these rails, from which point the body cannot to be pushed further. In this final position, the rear rollers d pass through the upper openings of the rails e, in the middle of these, and the body has started to rock slowly around the rollers c, to finally come into position. tion marked by the dotted line of line 2.
After unloading the crate is brought back to it by means of the sue chains

the rails e, so that the front rollers return to the cavity of the rails, and the oaisse is found in its initial position. to pass the contents of a wagon into the tipping dump, the body is oscillated by means of the telescoping screw shafts l, m, n, until the top edge of the body reaches the height of the edge of the wagon.
The force to operate the capstan which moves the body, and to oscillate the rails which carry this body, could be provided by the motor of the motor vehicle.
In details, the apparatus is susceptible to various modifications which can be applied without affecting the principle on which the invention is based.
