<EMI ID=12.1>

incandescent electric lamps ".
<EMI ID = 2.1>
incandescent electric lamps; and it concerns more especially (because it is in their case that its
application seems to offer the most interest), but
not exclusively, among these headlamps, those whose reflectors have a surface of revolution and whose axis is
common with that of these lamps.
Its main purpose is to make these projections
in
factors such that we neither obtain, as hitherto,
light beams as condensed as possible, but well
powerful beams in the center and degraded all around,
continuously, that is to say giving, an effect of
diffusion similar to that given by frosted bulbs, that. while significantly maintaining performance
bright transparent bulbs.
It consists, mainly, in constituting
<EMI ID = 3.1> in such a way, the projectors of the kind in question, that the filament system of their electric lamps to
<EMI ID = 4.1>
not symmetrical with respect to the axis of their reflectors, and has a general direction oblique with respect to said axis.
It consists, apart from this main provision, of certain other provisions, which are preferably used at the same time and which will be discussed more explicitly below.
It relates more particularly to a certain mode of application (that in which it is applied to headlamps whose reflectors have a surface of revolution and whose axis is common with that of the lamps), as well as certain embodiments (those which will be indicated below), of said provisions; and it targets more particularly still, and this as new industrial products, the projectors of the type in question comprising application of these same provisions, the elements and special tools specific to their establishment, as well as the installations, fixed or mobile (in particular the automobiles), comprising similar headlamps.
And it can, in any event, be clearly understood with the aid of the additional description which follows, as well as the appended drawings, which supplement and drawings are, of course, given above all by way of indication.
Fig. 1 of these drawings shows, in partial axial section, a projector comprising an electric lamp.
<EMI ID = 5.1>
Solution, the axis of which is common with that of the blade, the latter comprising a usual filament.
Figs. 2 to 7 show, in the same way as
fig. 1, reduced to the filaments of their lamps, others
headlamps also comprising customary filaments.

1, a similar un.projecteur, but established in accordance with the invention.
Figs. 9 to 23 show, in the same way as FIGS. 2 to 7, reduced to the filaments of their lamps, other similar projectors established in accordance with the invention.
Fig. 24, finally, shows, in the same way as in FIG. 8, a projector also established in accordance with the invention, but the lamp of which does not have a common axis with that of the reflector.
According to the invention, and more especially according to that of its modes of application, as well as those of the embodiments of its various parts, to which preference should be given, proposing to establish a projector comprising an electric incandescent lamp and a reflector a whose reflecting surface is a surface of revolution, for example a parabolic reflector (simply started in fig. 1 and 8), whose axis is, as will be assumed all d 'first, common

hold a light beam, not condensed as hitherto, but powerful in the center and degraded, all around, in a continuous manner, so as to obtain a diffusion effect similar to that given by frosted bulbs, all
by substantially retaining the light output of transparent bulbs, the procedure is as follows, or analogously.
Concerning, on the one hand, the bulb b to make the lamp understand - except for the filament
<EMI ID = 8.1>
to connect this filament to the base of said lamp -, it is formed in the usual way, for example of spherical shape
<EMI ID = 9.1>
<EMI ID = 10.1>
8, at the focus of the reflector a.
Concerning, on the second hand, said filament, instead, as usual, of establishing it symmetrically with respect to the common axis XY of the bulb and of the reflector, as shown, among other examples, fig. 1 to 7, it is established, as shown, among other examples also, in FIGS. 8 to 23, not symmetrically with respect to said common axis and in a generally oblique direction with respect to the latter, which filament may or may not be symmetrical with respect to its point of intersection with the axis of the bulb.
In the event that the filament thus obtained in one piece would have a length such that its ends would be too far from the center of the bulb, said filament is formed by several filament elements forming a grouped assembly, with the minimum of bulk. possible, around said center. This is how we see, by way of example, in FIGS. 14 to 19, two elements of filament and, in fig. 20 to 23, three pieces of filament, if two are not enough to give the desired result, and so on if necessary.
Concerning, from a third and last part,
the means suitable for making it possible to connect the chosen filament
<EMI ID = 11.1>
suelle.
It has been assumed in the above that the electric incandescent lamp and the reflector have a common axis, but it could be otherwise, as shown among other examples in fig. 24, the result obtained in this case would be the same, provided that the filament of said lamp is inclined with respect to the axis of the-
said reflector.
<EMI ID = 12.1>
As a result, we obtain projectors, which fully meet the above-mentioned goal, projectors in which the axis of the reflector being assumed to be horizontal, the filament can be in a horizontal, vertical or oblique plane, advantageous lighting effects being, in particular for the case of the arrangements (fig. 8, 9 and 24), obtained when the respective filaments are in vertical planes.
As goes without saying, and as is moreover already apparent from the foregoing, the invention is in no way limited to that of its modes of application, nor to those of the embodiments of its various parts, having been more especially indicated; on the contrary, it embraces all the variants.
