 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

    Cette forme d'exécution comporte deux parties 10,11 @

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

  "articulated headlight holder for vehicles, in particular for motor vehicles,".

   We know that the headlights of vehicles, of motor vehicles in particular, are placed on articulated supports so that they can momentarily deflect their light beam so as not to dazzle people or the drivers of vehicles coming in. contrary.

   In known headlight carriers of this kind, the

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 different parts are held in their rest position by one or more springs. The latter have dimensions large enough so as to prevent the headlights from leaving the rest position as a result of the continual jolts to which the rehicle is exposed and so that they do not break; it is therefore not very easy to accommodate them inside the parts of the support. The size of such supports is quite large and their attachment to vehicles is not without difficulty.

   On the other hand, it is not possible to prevent the headlights from moving as a result of the own vibrations of the springs, which in the long run produces a very unpleasant noise a great deal of work on the corresponding parts of the supports and a strong wear of these. .

   Experience has also shown that the springs relax over time and that the different parts of the supports do not therefore remain stationary with respect to each other.

   These various drawbacks are avoided according to the present invention, thanks to the fact that those of the parts of the headlight holder which constitute the articulation can perform a relative oscillating movement of limited amplitude, which is directed against the action of a compressing piston. air in a cylinder arranged in one of these parts,
In order to better understand the explanations which follow, the appended drawing represents, by way of simple example, one embodiment of the headlight holder.

   Figs. 1 and 2 are side elevations in the rest position and in the working position.

   Fig. 3 is a partial longitudinal vertical section thereof.

   Fig. 4 is a small-scale detail view.

    This embodiment has two parts 10,11 @

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 having the form of split collars, the ends of which are joined by tightening screws, by means of which the headlight is held in the upper part 10 and the lower part is fixed on a support part 12 of the vehicle,
In the lateral arms of the collar 11 rests an axis 12 which passes through a hole in the collar 10 and around which the latter can perform an oscillating movement of limited amplitude in a vertical plane.

   The plain part 16 of the collar 11 has a cylindrical chamber 17, from which two channels 18 lead to an additional chamber 19 closed by a cover 20.
In the upper part of the chamber 17 is housed a ring 21, which is made of steel by. example and in which moves a piston 22 provided with a segment 23. The piston 22 has the shape of a spherical cap on its upper face and carries on its lower face a leather washer ± and a felt washer 25 held by a plate 26, as well as a screw 27. The chamber 19 is filled with a liquid, for example oil, so that only a small layer of air remains between this liquid and the piston 22.

   That of the surfaces 29, of the collar 10, which is in front of the piston 22, is slightly inclined to allow the weak oscillation indicated of this part around the axis 12, Each of the collars 10, 11 is provided with an arm 30 or 21. To the arm 30 is fixed one end of the cable of a Bowden control device 32, the envelope of which is secured to the arm 31.

   The operation of this embodiment is as follows:
When the headlight holder is at rest, the parts are in the positions of fig. 1 and the headlight is directed straight forward, If you exert traction in the direction of

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

18 arrow 33 on the device cable)! Bowden order
32 in order to incline the light beam and avoid dazzling - sow produced by the phar the collars 10, .il. come to occupy the positions of fig.2, where the surface 29 pushes into the chamber 17 the piston 22 which compresses the air cushion 18. As a result, as soon as the traction on the cable ceases, the piston 22 rises automatically and bring back the necklaces
10, 11 to their relative rest position.

   As the chambers 17, 19 are filled with oil and the latter may come into contact with the felt washer ± as a result of the jolts undergone by the vehicle, this washer is always soaked in oil, which increases the sealing of piston 22.

   The above embodiment a. been expressly given to. title of simple example. Consequently, the peculiarities, the details of construction may differ from those which have been indicated, without the headlight holder presenting them thereby departing from the scope of the invention.
