 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

Le tamis à classement 4 écarte le charbon fin qui tom be dans un classeur à, vent 16 qui lui enlève les poussières ne pouvant pas être lavées;

   - Les poussières éliminées sont accumulées aans un réservoir 17 pour, suivant¯leur caractè- re, ou être mélangées au charbon fin libéré des eaux trou- bles de lavage ou   'être   utilisées   ailleurs.-   Le charbon fin libéré dans le classeur à vent 16 des poussières impossï- ble à laver est amené par un courant d'eau à la machine à tasser le grain fin 18;

   - Le charbon fin libéré de l'eau de la vage constitue un produit uniformément sec, immédiatement utilisable dans les usines à coke qui peut être accumulé aans les soutes à réserves 20 ou être transporté aux dites usines. La boue épaissie provenant des appareils de clari-   fication   15 est le cas échéant amenée par 1 'intermédiaire d'un appareil de concentration 21 à une proportion   détermi-   née du mélange entre l'eau trouble et les corps stables   ayui s 'y trouvent et conduite ensuite dans un séparateur 22 travaillant d'après le présent procéaé.- Cet appareil sépare le charbon à coke très fin contenu dans la boue de 1 le -au trouble, 1 des particules infiniment divisées constituant les composés des cendres;

  Process for the treatment of washing materials in coal washers min., -.

   In the processes known to date, used to separate the materials from the washing water, and their subsequent drying treatment which is carried out for the most part on the water at rest in hoppers, bucket chains etc., the dissolved or conventional materials: earthy, clay, clay etc., entrained by the washing water are filtered and more or less clear water is then separated from the washing materials.
By depositing this excessively held sludge on the washing materials, their ash content is increased while preventing their perfect drying.

   It is true that an attempt is made to remedy this drawback by the action of water showers, the addition of fresh water, etc. , but we only succeeded imperfectly. - By these processes of large quantities (the

  To obtain a material (the dry washing, devoid of cenrresf it is a question of eliminating the cloudy water containing ashes so that a deposit of ash compounds. On the materials that is to say their filtering by these materials

   the ash compounds must be eliminated as much as possible with the washing water - (by the effect of rinsing) - the test must be removed by suitable means, such as the use of air which applies very well to it.- Thanks to this process it is possible to eliminate in substance the impurities held rich in ash of such

 wash;

   the installation can be arranged so that this dust is added directly to the material separated from the washing water. - In this case it is possible - because of the ash content, reduced in the washed product according to the new procedure, - to add dust with a higher ash content, without increasing it beyond (the permitted limit, so that the total yield is improved. - The separation of impure water from the washed materials is according to the invention obtained without their filtering by said materials, in a manner different from the already known processes, by expl.

   by vacuum, by compressed gases, by centrifugal force and air by vibratory movements, or finally by a combination of the aforementioned means and by an arrangement of the total installation according to local conditions. - Processing and installations are thus considerably simplified while obtaining better results; it therefore only requires reserve hoppers instead of the current filters or drain hoppers in which the ash content is greater. -
The installations required may be of various construction.

   They can include water separating hoppers, the ports or meshes of which have a corresponding size, combined with a determined circulation of materials over the meshes and subjected to the action of compressed gases or to a vacuum. Rotary hoppers of suitable construction, resembling vacuum filters, with reverse-acting blowers for cleaning the meshes etc. can also be used. Finally, it is possible to use centrifugal machines, vibration apparatus, air etc. The drawing represents the genealogical diagram of an installation working according to this process.

   The bucket chain 1 transports the raw coal with a grain less than 80 m / m to the scrubber; in the event of an irregular supply, or when the washer is stopped, etc.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

 coal can be precipitated in a reserve tank 2 from where the endless ribbon 3 brings it back to the pit of the chain 1.

  Normally the coal falls on a 4- grade sieve which separates it into coarse and fine coal. - The coarse coal is brought by a stream of water into the tamping machine 5; The coarse washed charcoal and the cloudy water are brought to a first sieve 6 which pours them onto the sieve this classification 7 which divides the different sizes and separates them (the washing water. - The sifted hazelnuts are piled into the accumulators 8 from which they are discharged with the aid of inclined planes movable in the waggons after having previously showered them with fresh water on the waste screens 9. The cloudy water withdrawn as well as the waste coal , as well as the water from the showers and the waste charcoal from the screens 9 are led into the tank 10.

   - The charcoal in waste grains is transported by the bucket belt II in a crusher 12 which crushes it; it is then, depending on its character, mixed with fine coal before or after passing it through the fine tamping machine. - Water (the cloudy wash flows from the waste grain charcoal tank 10 into the wash water tank 13 of or a pump 14 delivers it to the concentrating devices or tanks (the clarification 15 .-
The grading sieve 4 removes the fine coal which falls into a windshield 16 which removes the dust that cannot be washed;

   - The dust removed is accumulated in a tank 17 to, depending on their character, either be mixed with the fine charcoal released from the troubled washing water or 'to be used elsewhere - The fine charcoal released in the wind binder 16 dust which cannot be washed is brought by a stream of water to the fine grain tamper 18;

   The troubled water removed and the washed product flow into an apparatus 19 constituted by expl. according to the present process, by a rotary sieve with water removal by the vacuum where the carbon is separated from the @

 troubled waters. - The separation of cloudy water from the washed materials can however also be carried out so that the greater part of the cloudy washing water is first withdrawn through a desharation sieve and the remainder of the cloudy washing water is then removed by a device operating according to the aforementioned method The cloudy water withdrawn is carried into the washing water tank 13 and discharged with the washing water of the coarse grain packing machine into the concentration or clarification device 13 .

   - The fine coal liberated from the water of the vage constitutes a uniformly dry product, immediately usable in the coke factories which can be accumulated in the storage tanks 20 or be transported to the said factories. The thickened sludge from the clarification apparatus 15 is optionally supplied via a concentrating apparatus 21 to a predetermined proportion of the mixture between the cloudy water and the stable bodies present therein and. then conducted in a separator 22 working according to the present procéaé.- This apparatus separates the very fine coking carbon contained in the sludge of 1 the cloudy, 1 of the infinitely divided particles constituting the compounds of the ash;

   this charcoal recovered from the sludge can be mixed with other fine charcoals. The cloudy water and the removal impurities are led into a collector 23 and delivered by a pump 24 into the concentration apparatus, that is to say. say in the clarification tank 25. - The dust removed by the dry process, contained in the reserve tank 17, can, depending on its nature, be brought by a bucket flap 26 to an endless conveyor belt 27 / and to the By means of the supply device 28 'be mixed directly with the washing product separated from the cloudy water, or finally joined in a sludge mixer 29 with the sludge coming from (the polarification apparatus 15, to be fed to the separator 22.- Thanks to these tricks,
