Improvements to heat exchangers.
The present invention relates to improvements made to heat exchangers, making it possible to ensure in any heat exchanger in communication with a steam generator, or other similar apparatus, a circulation of the fluid when 1 '. exchanger does not work.
The invention essentially consists in connecting, by its two ends, the heat exchanger where the fluid circulates, to the steam generator. This heat exchanger is supposed not to be isothermal and to be able to either cool or heat the fluid which circulates through it.
To ensure the circulation of the fluid in this exchanger, it is then necessary that an appreciable level difference exists between the fluid intake on the generator and the exchanger itself, it being understood that the generator will be higher than the exchanger if the fluid increases in volume in the exchanger and, on the contrary, it will be at a lower level if the exchanger cools.
Under these conditions, in the case of a superheater supplied

in steam by a steam boiler, for example, the steam inlet pipe will contain saturated steam and the other pipe superheated steam. The difference in average density between the two columns of steam at different states is sufficient to ensure circulation in 1 apparatus. The greater the height of the traffic, the greater the difference in height.
The description which will follow with reference to the appended drawing, given by way of example, represents the application of the invention to a boiler provided with a superheater.
The superheater a is connected to the boiler b, the upper body of which is represented at 0 by the steam supply tube d.
The outlet tube e of the superheater leads to a pipe '! which is divided into two branches f1 f2 which lead on the one hand, to the place of use, on the other hand, to the boiler.
Two valves g1 g2 joined together so that one opens when the other closes, directing the superheated steam, either to the place of use by f1 or to the boiler by f2.
To amplify the intensity of the circulation phenomenon, it is possible to extend the tube f 2 returning the superheated steam to the boiler by a coil h immersed in the water and thus producing a suction phenomenon which will accelerate the movement of the steam. in the superheater.
By this device, it can be seen that, if it becomes impossible to use the steam leaving the superheater, the valve g1 of the use pipe is closed and g2 leading to the boiler is opened. The circulation of steam thus continues and the superheater is never endangered by the high temperature prevailing around it, -.
