 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 6>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 7>

  "AUTOMATIC FIREPLACE SYSTEM".

   The object of the invention is a hearth system which consists of a mechanical loading device which brings the coal through a loading path from the hearth hearth and; 3. 'at the same time spreads out in the lateral direction on the hearth. of the hearth, as well as movable grate bars which are located next to (that is to say on one side or on both sides) of the mechanical loading device and which are movably movable. to continue advancing the coal and fuel residues in the same direction in which the device in question

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 bring them.

   the gate bars are preferably actuated so that they are first raised, then moved forward, then lowered and finally brought back. the height of stroke at the front end and at the rear end being adjustable . Further, the stroke length of the forward movement and the backward movement of each grid bar individually is adjustable.

   The fuel is therefore brought by a feed path into the hearth by means of a discharge member or in another way, for example as in the Underfeed hearth or in the Danau hearth. Ignition and also in part the combustion of fuel occurs on the feed path. From this path, the coal is pushed onto the movable side bars where it is burnt completely. This movement in the lateral direction is caused by the lateral pressure of the delivery member or by the inclination of the lateral grid (Underfeed or Danau).

   The mobility of the side grids helps the charcoal to spread, because the frictional resistance is reduced.

   As the volume of the fuel decreases during the progress of combustion and the air blown under the grate could thus escape through craters or holes in the coal, the speed of transport or translation of the fuel on the The hearth bottom provided with movable grate bars must not be the same over the entire grate surface. According to the invention, the result can be obtained, not only that the coal is well spread, but also that the speed of translation decreases in direct proportion to the reduction in the distance between the fuel or the remains. of fuel and the slag evacuation channel.

   If care is taken that the stroke height

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 at the front end (at the front) is greater than at the rear end (near the slag ditch), the forward speed will be greater at the front than at the rear.

   The translational speeds of the fuel must be unequal also on the sideways juxtaposed paths, since the coal arriving from the feed path on the side grate bars has to make a longer or a shorter path, depending on whether The crossing point is at a greater or lesser distance from the discharge channel. This inequality in the distances between the fresh coals and the place of discharge of the slag plays an important role.

  For this reason, the cooperation of the mechanical loading apparatus of the kind described with the grate bars continuing the translation of the fuel is of essential importance.

   In general, the movable grid bar located in the immediate vicinity of the feed path must impart a lower translation speed to the coal than the gate bar located outside. Exact speeds can be achieved anywhere by proper choice of stroke lengths as well as forward and reverse stroke heights.

   The appended drawing represents the invention in an exemplary embodiment.

   Fig. 1 is a vertical longitudinal section taken along line 1-1 of FIG. 3.

   Fig. 2 is the top view of the entire hearth hearth.

   Fig. 3 shows in part a section along the line III-III of FIG. 1, and partly the rear view of a side grille.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

   The central part of the hearth floor consists of a dead grate surface b, a series of grate bars 7, a perforated grate plate 8 and two solid grate plates 9. Both delivery members 10 push the coal onto the hearth floor and transport it both sideways and forward. A wedge-shaped box 11, cooled by water, forces the partially burnt coal to deflect left and right over the grate bars. Below the grille 7 is an air box 12 into which relatively high pressure air is introduced. The air arrives through side holes 13 provided with a closure member, under the side grids on which the combustion of the coal is less intense.

   Each side grid is made up alternately of fixed united bars il -) - and movable toothed bars 15.

  The bars 15 are actuated by means of a shaft 16 and displaceable eccentrics 17, the rods 18 of which are each connected to a connecting rod 19. These connecting rods are articulated to the arms directed upwards by angled levers 20, which are rotatable around fixed axes 21 and are articulated to pressure or push bars 22. The grid bars 15 are mounted on these bars 22 by means of riveted chairs or consoles 23. Each connecting rod 19 actuates two successive grid bars 15 and it is provided on both sides of the pressure bar 22 with stop pins 24 projecting laterally and the distance of which from each other is a little greater than the width of the bar. bar 22.

   As the eccentric 17 rotates, the respective elbow levers 20 receive an angular rotary movement corresponding to the set eccentricity. The magnitude of the movement of

 <Desc / Clms Page number 5>

 the rise and fall of the corresponding grid bars 15 is also dependent on this eccentricity.

  The length ratio between the arm directed upwards and the substantially horizontal arm of the angled lever plays a decisive role here. By an exact choice of this ratio, the result can be obtained that the front end of the grid bar is raised to a greater height than the rear end. If the stroke length of the upwardly directed arm of the angled lever is greater than the play of pins 24 with respect to pressure bar 22, the gate bar also moves horizontally, in reciprocating motion with periods of rest. - As a result of this horizontal movement, the fuel is transported, while the vertical movement prevents the coal from sticking to the grate bars.

   A rod 25 passing through a gland 26 causes a certain frictional resistance, so that the grid bar 15 remains at rest in the horizontal direction at the point where a stop pin 24 has brought it. In the absence of sufficient frictional resistance, the grid bar could tip forwards or backwards, as it rests with its pressure bars 22 in unstable equilibrium on the axes of rotation of the horizontal arms of the bent levers. By adjusting the eccentrics, each pair of mobile grid bars can be given its own translation speed, while by adjusting the speed of rotation of the shaft 16, the speed of all the bars can be adapted. grate at the loading speed, ie at the production of steam.

   If desired, the device can also be produced in such a way that each grid bar 15 is separately powered by an eccentric 17. with connecting rod 19, or again so that the grid bars are actuated in larger groups by an eccentric.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 6>

   It is also possible to make all the bars of the gates s la téra le s mobile.

   The f ig. 1 indicates cament an elbow lever 20 'can be given a different arrangement from that of the other elbow levers. If this elbow lever is made to act on its grid bar in the same way as the other angled levers by means of a pressure bar 22 and stop pins 24, this grid bar reacts against too much transport. Strong fuel under 1 action of a delivery member or a conveyor screw on the other hand, the fuel spreads more in the lateral direction on the wide hearth floor.

   When the speed of transport or translation should be almost zero at the end of a grid bar, this end is preferably mounted on a roller 27, 1 axis of which is carried by a non-mobile grid bar. The roller in this case replaces the second pressure bar 22 which otherwise serves for mounting the movable grid bar.

   The mobile grid bars comprise at the front an extension 30 which is articulated therein at 28 and is mounted on a roller 29; this extension moves back and forth under a closure plate 31. The latter intercepts 1air to a sufficient extent.

   The box 11 is provided with water inlet and outlet tubes 32, which at the same time form a simple bridge under which are located the rear ends of the grid bars, so that the ash and the slag form themselves. even a sealing before they fall into the discharge channel 33. The latter is covered so that the cinders and fly ash cannot fall there.

   The eccentrics 17 can be displaced, that is to say

 <Desc / Clms Page number 7>

 adjusted separately, so that the hearth sole can have different translation speeds over its entire width.

   It is thus possible to obtain the result that over the entire width of the discharge end only ash and slag are expelled, while immediately forward the last remains of coal still burn. Under these conditions, complete combustion of the supplied coal is ensured under all operating conditions.
