à l'excentrique et suivant la position donnée aux rainures. titre de réalisation du procédé objet de l'invention il a été représenté au dessin annexé: Fig.- 1 une vue en plan d'un changement de vitesse progressif conforme à l'invention;
Fig.- 2 une élévation coupe suivant B.C. de la Fig. 1 et ;
Fig.- 3 une coupe suivant = B @N de la Fig. 1.

Method for gradually varying the speed of a driven member relative to that of a conductive member and apparatuses performing said method.
The present invention relates to a method for gradually varying the speed of a driven member relative to that of a conductive member. And naturally for zero speed, of the driven component, the device acts as a disengagement and stop of the driven machine.
It also makes it possible to gradually vary the rectilinear "course" of a driven organ.
It consists, in principle, of placing between an eccentric and its collar a part in the form of a cam moving in grooves belonging to a variable position control member, the shape of the cam being such that it moves in a straight line. and with a reciprocating movement the rod controlled by the collar between determined limits of the own excemtricity

eccentric and according to the position given to the grooves. As an embodiment of the method which is the subject of the invention, it has been shown in the appended drawing: FIG. 1 a plan view of a gradual change of speed according to the invention;
Fig. - 2 an elevation section along B.C. of Fig. 1 and;
Fig. - 3 a following section = B @N of Fig. 1.
In the drawings, 1 is an eccentric, 2 its collar and 3 a cam-shaped part which by rotation of 1/4 of a turn varies from zero to one the action of the eccentric on its collar, the position shown in Fig. 1 corresponds to action zero.
Of course between zero and the maximum stroke and depending on the position of a part 4, which by a lever 5 controls the running of the cam 3 via the four grooves 6, there is a progressive variation in speed. The collar 2, the rod of which engages here with the two free wheels 7, 8, of opposite movement, by means of two guides 9, 91, will make for each revolution of the eccentric 1 more or less turn the two free wheels . The cam 3 can only move in the grooves 6 of the part 4 by means of guides 10 integral with the cam 3. In the drawing, the freewheels are not actuated and the eccentric 1 only moves the cam 3 to inside the collar 2 that it does not activate.
As soon as by the rod 5, controlling the part 4 to the dean of the gear teeth, this part 4 will have turned by a certain angle as well as its grooves 6, the cam 3 forced to move obliquely with respect to the axis C This will begin to give the collar 2 a slight back and forth movement, which activates the freewheels 7, 8.
In the drawings, the gear change object of the invention has been applied to an automobile chassis. We can see in particular the change of gear 11 and a direct connection 12. Of course
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
ball bearings can be adapted to the different rotating parts and to regularize the movement of the eccentric, it can be balanced or even aoooupled two devices whose eccentrics are opposed, each collar 2 then controlling one of the free wheels 7, 8 The eccentric 1 can be hollowed out along the dotted line in FIG. 1 and the whole tightly closed, all the parts bathed in oil.
The ring 13 serves as a central support for the cover 14 which in turn serves as a support for the parts above the device, -
The present invention, which is obviously independent of the shapes, construction materials, and dimensions of the elements constituting it, is applicable in all cases where there is a need for a change of speed between a driving member and a driven member, for example, on machine tools: lathes, drills, etc. where it is often necessary to stop the machine and to vary the speed very gradually according to the parts to be worked, the necessary transformations of movement being variable in each particular case and belonging to current technique.
