 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 6>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 7>

  "Machine for cutting meat and the like.

   Meat cutting machines and the like usually include reciprocating elements. For example in the species of these machines most generally known and employed, a carriage supporting the substance to be cut is arranged in such a way that it can be driven by a reciprocating movement along it. one or more guides located beyond the blade, while in other species of similar machines the blade itself can be reciprocated with respect to the substance to be sliced.

   It is important in practice that the surfaces serving as guides for parts with alter movements

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 natives are lubricated effectively and automatically; the object of the present invention is to provide devices for the lubrication of these surfaces.

   In accordance with this invention, a guide along which a cutting machine element is arranged to receive reciprocating motion is surrounded, with gentle friction, by a member which plunges into an oil reservoir, the arrangement being such that the reciprocating element moving, the aforementioned member slides and rotates along and around the guide lubricating it.

   The reservoir consists of a trough arranged below the guide} it can be provided on the reciprocating element which it follows in its movements or remain stationary.

   In order that the invention may be clearly understood, we will now refer to the accompanying drawings in which various embodiments have been shown by way of examples applied to cutting machines of the well known type with reciprocating movements.

   In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a section through the machine
Figure 2 a perspective section of one side of the carriage.

   FIG. 3 is a view showing parts broken away, corresponding to FIG. 1 and indicating a variant e.

   FIG. 4 is a section showing a further variant, part of the section being drawn along the line IV-IV of FIG. 3.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

   Figure 5 is a section taken on the line V-V of Figure 4 and shown on a larger scale.

   The cutting machine shown in Figure 1 comprises a frame 1, two guide bars 2,2 support tees at their ends in known manner by supports (not shown in the drawings) on the upper part of the frame 1, a carriage 3 with reciprocating movements which can slide on the} bars 2,2 and a rotating circular blade 4. The substance to be cut is held on the table 6 which is capable of fixing it to the carriage 3 by a mechanism well known in the art. material and which, for this reason, has not been shown in the drawings. On each side, the carriage 3 is provided with two support brackets 7, 7 through which the guide bar 2 is adjusted exactly.

   The reciprocating movement of the carriage is communicated by a mechanism comprising a vertical shaft 8, a crank 9 and a connecting rod 10, the shaft being set in motion by a motor shaft 11, by hand or in any other way. .

   The rotational movement of the blade drifts via a link comprising a chain and a gear (not shown in the drawings) of the motor shaft 11.

   It is understood that the organs described do not constitute a part of the present invention since their construction and their modes of action are well known to those familiar with this subject.

   As usual the carriage is connected to flanges which are two flanks 3'b, 3b which carry the support blocks 7. As indicated in

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

 Figures 1 and 2, a trough 12 is located between the flanges 3b, 3b immediately below each pair of coaxial blocks 7,7, each of these troughs plunges under the sides adjacent to the flanges 3a. A protrusion 13 is disposed horizontally inside from each block 7. A lubricating member consisting of a metal ring 14 encircles each rod 2 and is disposed between the free ends of the protrusions 13.

   When the machine is installed, the two troughs are partially filled with a lubricating oil poured in in sufficient quantity to allow the rings to immerse therein,
While the machine is working, the rings 14 are pushed forward and backward along the guide bars by protrusions 13. When the protrusions touch the rings, the latter ask what is causing them. a slight angle derotatory movement, around the bars and their lubrication.

   The construction shown in Figure 3 essentially varies from that drawn in Figures 1 and 2 in that the troughs serving as oil reservoir are not arranged on the carriage but are on the contrary stationary,
As indicated, the troughs consist of tubes 12 through which the guide bars pass.

   Each tube has a longitudinal opening 22 through which the connection pieces 23 pass between the support blocks 24 and the carriage. Obviously, the ends of the tubes must be closed and will be adjusted exactly with the

 <Desc / Clms Page number 5>

 guide bars near the ends of these.

   The bearing blocks are provided with protrusions (not shown but similar to protrusions 13 in Figure 2) arranged to push the grease rings 25 along the bars 2.

   Alternatively, as shown in Figures 4 and 5, it is provided on each guide bar
2, a ring 31 provided with inclined fins 32, spaced apart on its periphery. When the carriage 3 comes and goes, the rings 31 are pushed forward and backward by the blocks 24 (or by the projections with which they are provided if necessary) and at the same time rotate under the influence of the inclination. of their fins, which causes lubrication of the bars.

     Obviously, the different embodiments described above and illustrated by the drawings can be applied to all the elements animated by reciprocating movements which make up the cutting machine and which are mounted and can slide on a guide. along which a lubricating member slides and turns.

   Of course, numerous modifications can obviously be made without departing from the limits of the invention; for example, the lubricating member can be an endless chain and the means used to cause its rotation, take different embodiments; several lubrication argan can be mounted on a simple guide.

  Having now specially described and determined the material of my invention as well as the way of making it, I declare to claim: 1) In a cutting machine having a guide

 <Desc / Clms Page number 6>

 along which a part of the machine is designed
 EMI6.1
 aii- 4dÀt4tu-bv to move in a reciprocating motion, Tmor ## "gane surrounding the soft floating guide and a reservoir for the lubricant in which said member can immerse, the arrangement being such that the ele- ment with reciprocating movement moving, said member slides and rotates along and around the guide lubricating it.

  2) In a cutting machine of the kind of those with a carriage driven by reciprocating movements, a member gently surrounding the usual guide or each guide of the carriage, and a lubricant reservoir in which this member can immerse, the arrangement being such that, the carriage being animated during the work of the machine by a back-and-forth movement, said member slides and rotates along and around the guide, lubricating it.

  3. A cutting machine according to claim 1 or 2 wherein the reservoir consists of a trough disposed below the guide or each guide and provided on the element with reciprocating movements which it follows the movements.

  4, A cutting machine according to claim 1 or 2 wherein the reservoir consists of a fixed trough provided on the guide or on each guide.

  .5. A cutting machine according to each of the preceding claims in which the lubricating member is disposed between protrusions of the reciprocating element which, during the operation of the machine, pushes it forward and towards the front. Rear 6. A cutting machine according to claims 1 or 2 or 4 in which the lubricating member is provided with inclined fins for rotating it.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 7>

 7. A cutting machine having one or more lubricating members as substantially described above in accordance with Figures 1 and 2 or 3, 4 and 5 of the accompanying drawings.
