INSTRUMENT ARATOIRE.

<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

ARATORY INSTRUMENT.
The object of the present invention is an agricultural instrument, intended more particularly for gardening, for example for weeding paths; the upkeep of borders and flower beds and thanks to which the so-called gardening work is facilitated,
In accordance with the invention, the body of the arterial instrument has a socket, divided at least into two parts and in which the handle is fixed. It also has a convex cutting edge in cross section.
The accompanying drawing shows an embodiment of the object of the invention. In the drawing,

The rod 6 is a section along the line 1V-1V of FIG. 1.
1 shows the socket formed from a steel tube, and on which the body a is secured by autogenous welding.
The body 2 is double, and forms on one side a cutting edge 3, on the other side a fork 4. Instead of the fork, it is possible, according to needs, to provide a hoe 4 ', as shown in the drawing. shown in phantom lines. The cutting edge 3 is lancet-shaped, cutting at the sides, and convex in cross section. The convex shape of this cutting edge gives it great strength, even for light construction, and a satisfactory "bite", even if the tool is held oblique to the ground. The lancet cutting edge 3 tapers outwards on its longitudinal sides.
The socket 1 is divided into two halves, at its lower part A fixing ring 5 is slipped on it. The conical end of the handle 6 is introduced into the socket, and it is fixed there by the transverse pin 7. The more the fixing ring 5 is lowered on the handle 6, the more the two halves of the socket are tightened, so that one achieves a satisfactory fixing. In order to remove the mandhe 6, it suffices to push the fixing ring 5 upwards, i.e. towards the body of the tool, after which the transverse spindle 7 is withdrawn.
Lanfourche and the 4 'hoe can also be replaced by another instrument, responding to the job to be accomplished; it is only important that at least one cutting edge 3 of convex cross section is used. The socket 1 can also be divided into more than two parts, for example into three or four parts.
The object of the invention is specific to gardening work of all kinds; because the cutting edge 3, due to its convexity, is very strong, this instrument can be manufactured very lightly. The "bite" is satisfactory at any position of the cutting edge, due to its convex shape in cross section, which makes it easier to work under beds, around certain plants, etc.

the tillage implement described will preferably be commercially delivered in three sizes. Two handles, one short and one long, will be used advantageously, and depending on the work to be done, one or the other will be introduced into the socket.
In the small size construction, a size of 20cm for the eye, and a length of 35-40cm were judged to be satisfactory. for the handle. The tillage implement described above is particularly suitable for women, amateurs and landscape gardeners.
