ROTARY ENGINE WITH BURNT GAS RECOVERY.

The present invention relates to a rotary motor for all applications, in which the recovery of the live force from the burnt gases can be completely ensured. This motor is essentially constituted by a rotating drum in a casing with which it forms, when the buckets with which they are provided coincide, successive working chambers, from where the burnt gases are expelled towards a turbine which they aotionnate or are directed to another equally advantageous destination.

The morne oyole thus reproduces itself with a certain shift in all the successively constituted working chambers, which makes it possible to obtain a high efficiency and a great regularity of operation, without taking into account that, owing to the absence of eddies, the speed The throttle is very high. On the other hand, the engine in question has a reduced enoombration in relation to its power.

The drawing appended to this specification shows, by way of example, an embodiment of this new engine.

Fig.I is a sectional elevation taken through A-B of Fig.3.

     Fig.2 is a cross section through C-D of Fig.I.

Fig. 3 shows a partial internal development of the envelope.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

On the shaft I of the motor is fixed a drum 2 rotating by means of ball bearings 3 on a nozzle 4. The cylindrical wall 5 of the drum has a number - six in this case - of buckets. 6 can form with buckets 7, of central direction .provided in a casing 8, in which the drum 2 rotates, working chambers 9. As shown in Fig, 2, the buckets 7 are smaller in number to the buckets 6, so as to produce a certain offset which makes it possible to distribute the explosions over the entire duration of a rotation of the drum 2. The shape of the buckets 6, 7 may vary according to requirements, for example, in cross section. versal (Fig. 2) chamber 9 will be rectangular in shape, and in longitudinal section (Fig, I)

circular. On the other hand, gaskets can be provided to ensure the tightness of the chambers thus formed.

To each bucket 7 is adjacent in the casing 8, an exhaust duct 10 connected by a pipe 10 'to the inlet of a turbine II, the blades of which, in appropriate number, are fixed on the shaft. I. In the bottom of the buckets 7 is housed a spark plug 12.

The envelope 8 is hollowed out between the buckets 7 and forms as many compartments 13 as there are buckets 7; these oompar-

Finally the wall 5 of the drum 2 is in turn pierced with an exhaust port 17 disposed a little beyond each bucket 6, and the lateral wall of the drum is pierced with holes 18, corresponding to holes 19 drilled in. envelope 8.

The turbo-compressor being started by the starter, the gas entering it is compressed and through the pipe 14 arrives in one of the compartments 16. Instead of providing as many pipes 14 as there are compartments 13, we

could just as easily use a single duct 14 leading to an annular chamber in communication with said compartments. When (Fig. 2) the drum 3, in its rotational movement uncovered, by the edge 6a d 'a bucket 6, the inlet 16 of a compartment 13,

the gas contained in the latter penetrated under pressure into the trough 6, then into the trough 7 when the ridge 6a passed the ridge 7a of the latter. But the trough 7j still containing the burnt gas remaining from the explosion above, the fresh gas expels this burnt gas through orifice 17 of drum 2.

This gas passes through the interior of the drum and escapes through hole 18, then through hole 19, from where it can be directed through a pipe 20 towards the turbine II, for example at the height of the last blade. , on which it will act.

When the port 17 is reopened by the internal wall of the casing 8, the buckets 6, 7 considered coincide exactly and thus form a chamber 9, in which the explosion caused by the spark plug 12 occurs.

With the drum continuing to rotate, the ridge 6a soon exceeds the ridge 10a of the exhaust duct 10, so that the burnt gases are discharged through this duct and are directed through the pipe 21 (Fig.I) towards the upper part of the turbine II. The gases thus strike the successive blades of the turbine and finally escape through the pipe 22, so to speak completely deprived of any live force, while the shaft I of the engine has received additional driving force. The edge 6b of the bucket 6 has reached the edge 7b of the bucket 7, the latter no longer communicates with the duct 10, but the burnt gases that it may still contain will be evacuated, prior to the next explosion, by the hunting of fresh gas, as has been said previously.

Soon the bucket 6 has also passed the duct 10 and its normal exhaust is finished. The burnt gas which is still there will be expelled like that which is still there.

re in the trough 7, by flushing out fresh gas.
 EMI4.1
1t that 1n1pratpn 10 or ganz oTû16 is sufficient to prevent or at least delay the admission of fresh gas through orifice 16; in this case it would be possible to provide before this last orifice a special exhaust for gases burnt remaining in the trough 6.

The cycle of operations being thus completed between a bucket 7 of the casing and a bucket 6 of the drum 2, this bucket in the movement of the drum, will reproduce these same operations with chaoun of augota 7, and all the buckets 6 will act in the same way. me successively with all the buckets 7.-Thus therefore in the present case where six buckets 6 are combined with five buckets 7, we will obtain thirty explosions. per revolution of the drum 3, which ensures a perfect regularity of functioning. The evacuation of the flue gases has been brought to its last limit, the explosion still takes place in a rich gas.

It is evident that the exact respective positions of the various intake and exhaust ports between themselves and with respect to the buckets 6,7 are determined so as to ensure the regularity of the operations and the tightness of the passages.

This engine can be used as the motive power for any application and function as a stationary or mobile engine. The turbo-compressor and the turbine of which it is made u- sago can be of a known construction or be specially constructed for their use. combination with the motor.

The inventor naturally reserves the right to make any improvements to the invention which may be deemed useful.
