    @

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

   Fig. 1 est une vue partielle de l'isolateur en coupe verticale suivant la ligne A-B de la Fig. 2;

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

  "Device for fixing the covers of electrical insulators.

   This invention relates to electrical insulators intended to be mounted in a "chain" or "column", which have a protuberance capped with a metal cover used to hang or rigidly fix the insulators to each other. Its object is a device for fixing this cover on the protuberance of the insulator which advantageously replaces the sealing devices or other devices used until now, on account of its simplicity, its solidity and the ease with which it can be removed when it is desired to separate the cover from the insulator.

    @

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

According to the invention, the fixing device comprises a segmental ring housed in a groove in the foot of the protuberance of the insulator and provided with outer protrusions which bayonetly engage other protrusions or grooves from the inside. of the cover, when it fits over the protuberance and then rotates it at a certain angle. Then wedging the cover on the ring by means of a pin, a completely safe assembly is obtained, although it can be easily removed if necessary.

   The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an insulator, the cover of which is fixed by this bayonet device.

   Fig. 1 is a partial view of the insulator in vertical section taken along line A-B of FIG. 2;
Fig. 2 is a cross section taken along line C-D in FIG. 1 and Figs. 3 and 4 are developed views of the interior surface of the cover and the exterior surface of the segmental ring, respectively.

   The segmental ring 1 is composed for example of three segments la, ib, lc, is shaped so as to be able to be housed in a groove or; a recess 2 at the foot of the usual protuberance 3 of the insulator 4. It has space in place on its outer periphery of the protrusions 5, of elongated shape, which are separated by intervals or grooves 6, the bottom of which is flush with the surface of the widest part of the protuberance 3.

   The cover 7 which is to be fixed to the insulator in the form of a bell with a cylindrical skirt in the bottom of which is formed a circular internal groove 8, with in place a projection 9. Between these projections 9 are formed. reserved for

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 intervals 10 wide enough to allow the projections 5 of the ring 1 to pass freely.

   To fit the insulator, the segments of the ring 1 are placed in the groove 2, then the cover 7 is fitted onto the protuberance 3 by sliding its protrusions 9 between the protrusions 5 of the ring and the cover is then rotated. of the desired angle to engage the projections 9 behind the projections 5. A wedge 11 prevents this bayonet assembly from coming apart.

   Of course, instead of the continuous groove 8 and
 EMI3.1
 :: n: U.1.i.1iI 9, we pourrab provide the onpot 7 with an aortnin number of bent or helical grooves intended to receive the corresponding lugs provided on the ring 1 and to engage with these lugs under the effect of a relative rotation of the cover and the ring. Still other modifications could be made to the device shown without departing from the scope of the present invention.
