 m Perfectionnements apportés aux lacets ou analogues "
 EMI1.1
 po

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

    @

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

 m Improvements to laces or the like "
 EMI1.1
 po
The invention relates to laces, aiguillettes, cords or the like capable of ensuring closure without it being necessary to tie the ends of the cord. Laces or the like of this kind have, at one of their ends, a part which is wider than the cord and which serves to retain this end, for example by the shoe, while the cord and the other end of the lace are maintained, by friction, by the edges of the eyelets.

   The present invention consists, mainly, of @

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 arrange said part in such a way that it cannot be detached from the cord by use and that it cannot exert pressure on the part of the human body, for example the foot, on which it is applied.

   To this end, the part is formed, which is fixed to one end of the lace or the like, by a kind of crampon or clip comprising a base plate and a top plate.

  Teeth or hooks, cut from the material constituting the base plate and which are curved upwards, are forcibly introduced into the bead and pass, according to the invention, through holes made in the top plate to be folded around the edge of the aforementioned holes, all so that the cord is strongly pinched between the two plates. To prevent, in the case of laces, that the shoe or the stocking cannot be damaged by the tips of the teeth or hooks, the part of the top plate surrounding each of the holes is given by stamping or analogous, the form of a protective annular bead.

   In the accompanying drawing, three different embodiments of the invention have been shown by way of example.

   Figs.l and 2 illustrate the ordinary way of lacing, for example, boots, a part of the boot being shown in fig.l being unlaced and in Fig.2 being laced.

   Figs.3 and 4 show, respectively, in plan and in longitudinal section (on a larger scale) a part established at one end of the lace and that in accordance with the invention.

   Figs. 5 and 6 show, similarly to FIG.

  3, respectively two other parts established in accordance with two embodiments other than that of figs. 3 and 4.

    @

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

The closure is obtained, according to figs.l and 2, from the fact that one of the ends of the lace is retained by the shoe (that is to say held in a removable manner), while the cord and the The other end of the lace are prevented, by rubbing on the edges of the eyelets, from disengaging, when the shoe or boot has been laced by simply acting by pulling on the free end of the lace. The shoe or boot is unlaced by acting on the parts of the lace located between the two eyelets established at the lower part of the shoe, which shortens the free end and the lace is continued from bottom to top. To tie the shoe or boot, you simply pull on the free end of the lace.

   As shown in figs.3 and 4, the base plate 1 and the top plate 5 are connected, forming a kind of clamp, by a fold provided on one of the short sides of the clamp. 2 denotes a tooth cut in the base plate and curved upwards, this tooth being forcibly engaged in the lace 3 and having its end engaged in a hole 4 made in the top plate 5, the point of this tooth then being folded around the edge of the opening 4 towards the top plate. The part of this last plate, which is around the hole 4, is stamped upwards so as to form an annular bead suitable for preventing the part of the shoe, the boot or the bottom coming into contact with the top plate cannot be damaged by the tip.

   With the tooth thus bent, the top plate is strongly pressed against the base plate, resulting in friction which increases the strength of the fastener. The friction is particularly strong around the hole 4, since the edge of the latter is pressed into the bead. In the fold of the pliers is mena-

 ge a recess in which is housed the end of the cord.

  Since this end is not subjected to pressure, it is wider than the part of the bead which is between the two plates 1 and 5 so that the edges of the recess help to increase the friction.

   As can be seen in fig. 4, the cord 3 rubs on the edges of the eyelet which retains the end of the lace.

  Thanks to this friction, the force tending to detach the part fixed to the end of the lace is reduced.

   In the example shown in fig.5, the fold connecting the two plates is on the longitudinal side of them.

  This is also the case for the example shown in fig. 6, the base plate being however wider than the top plate and its longitudinal edge, opposite to that where the fold is located and protruding that of the plate. from above, is beaten on the latter.
