Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

    Il Perfectionnements apportés aux moteurs à explosions à combustible lourd tel que pétrole ou semblable ".

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

   blir   on le constitue de manière telle que, lors de la mise en route du moteur, son carburateur unique soit alimenté tout   dabord   par de   1 essence   jusqu'à épuisement d'une quantité déterminée à l'avance de ce carburant, puis ensuite, aussi- tôt ladite quantité déterminée   épuisée;

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

En suite de quoi on   réalise,   dans tous les   cas;

   <Desc / Clms Page number 1>

    It Improvements to heavy fuel combustion engines such as petroleum or similar ".

   The invention relates to heavy fuel combustion engines such as petroleum or the like.

   Its main purpose is to simplify the start-up of these engines, which is generally carried out using a light fuel and mineral gasoline to ensure the operation of the engine until at least certain components of said engine have reached a temperature such that operation with heavy fuel can take place under good conditions.

   It mainly consists of arranging the engines of the genre in question in such a way? that, when they are started up, they are first supplied with light fuel until a predetermined quantity of said light fuel has been used up, then :, then :, immediately said determined quantity exhausted , by heavy fuel.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

   It consists, apart from this main provision, of certain other provisions, which are preferably used at the same time and which will be more fully discussed below.

   It relates more particularly to a certain mode of application, as well as certain embodiments, of said provisions; and it relates more particularly also, and this as new industrial products, to the engines of the type in question comprising the application of the said provisions, the special elements specific to their establishment, as well as the sets, fixed or mobile, comprising such engines.

   And it can, in any case, be clearly understood with the aid of the additional description which follows, as well as the appended drawing, which supplement and drawing are, of course, given above all by way of indication.

   The single figure in this drawing represents, in schematic vertical section, the fuel mixture supply system of an engine established in accordance with the invention.

   According to the invention, and more particularly according to that of its modes of application, as well as those of the embodiments of its various parts / to which it seems that preference should be given, proposing to To establish a heavy fuel engine, for example petroleum, comprising a single carburetor for starting and normal operation, the procedure is as follows, or similarly.

   As regards, first of all, the whole of the engine, with the exception of its fuel mixture supply system, it is set up in any suitable manner as usual therefore so as to obtain an engine capable of being started on gasoline, then when a certain temperature equilibrium is reached, to run on petroleum.

   As regards, now, the fuel mixture feed system to be included in the stage engine.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

   blir it is constituted in such a way that, when starting the engine, its single carburetor is first supplied with 1 gasoline until a predetermined quantity of this fuel is used up, then then, also - sooner said determined quantity exhausted;

  , by peroleo
For this purpose, the engine p is also provided with an oil tank a, a gasoline tank b capable of receiving the quantity of gasoline deemed necessary to ensure the operation of said engine until it is surely ready to run on petroleum, and provision is made for means such that when the engine is started it first of all depletes the aforesaid quantity of petrol and then, without transition, is supplied by the petroleum from the reservoir by means that one constitutes, advantageously, in the manner which will be indicated below.

   A container deformed to 1 atmosphere is provided below the tank at constant level ± of the carburetor, and that 1 * is connected on the one hand :) to the oil tank a by a tube e which emerges towards the lower part of the container d said tube being, preferably, provided with a shut-off valve f, and, on the other handp to the constant-level tank by a tube ± leading to the upper part of the container d.

   The gasoline tank b with the constant level tank c is read again through a tube h, for example by causing said tube h to unblock in the tube g.

   Finally, the gasoline tank b is placed at such a level, with respect to the oil tank, that, taking into account the usual densities of the fuels to be used, the static pressure due to the gasoline at the level where the tube g opens into the tank. constant level c, as long as the reservoir contains gasoline, is greater than that due to petroleum, at the same level, when the reservoir a.

   is completely filled,

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

 in other words that if H1 is the height of the minimum admissible level of petrol in the tank b, and H2 the height of the maximum level of petroleum in the tank a, heights measured from the level where the tube c opens into the tank at constant level c and if d and D are the respective densities of gasoline and oil, we have, in all cases
H1d <H2D
The operation of the device established as has just been said is as follows.

   Assuming that the engine has been stopped by closing the tap f, so that the tank has been emptied, and that we pour into the tank an appropriate quantity of gasoline (for example 250 gr. For a 5 HP engine ), part of this gasoline, passing through the tube h fills the tank c, then, lowering the oil into the container d, comes to occupy in the upper part of this container a certain volume such that equilibrium is reached in the system of communicating vessels constituted by the various tanks and pipes described above.

   Thus, for example, there is shown in the drawings the position of equilibrium of the various fluids, the level x x being corresponding to the theoretical separation of gasoline and petroleum.

   We can see that it will be easy, for example for the engine manufacturer, to indicate to the users the quantity of gasoline that needs to be poured into the tank b to allow cold starting of the engine. .

   This quantity also varies theoretically according to the ambient temperature and it will be, in certain cases, interesting to indicate to the user the quantity of gasoline which he must foresee for the starting according to the outside temperature.

   In order to avoid any trial and error and any research, the motor is preferably provided with a thermometer i and, more preferably, said thermometer is arranged in such a manner.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 5>

   meter, in relation to the reservoir b that it is sufficient;, whatever the temperature, fill the reservoir b to a level indicated by the top of the column of the thermometer's indicator liquid.
For this purpose, of course, the thermometer is placed in such a way that the top of its column of indicator liquid drops as the temperature increases:

  , this is why the thermometer rod is bent or, more simply, it is placed upside down, the tank b is given a configuration such that, when it is filled as indicated above, the quantity of gasoline poured is suitable whatever the temperature, finally, advantageously the side wall of the tank b is made transparent at least in part or else a level tube is added to it opposite the thermometer.
As a result of which one realizes, in all cases;

  , an engine fully meeting the above-mentioned goal and which has over those already existing, among other advantages, that of not requiring any monitoring or any maneuver for the switch from gasoline to oil.

   As goes without saying, and as moreover already emerges from the foregoing, the invention is in no way limited to that of its modes of application, nor to those of the embodiments of its various parts. Particularly been envisioned as it embraces :) on the contrary all the variants.
