 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

  Advance mechanism repeatedly,
The present invention relates to mechanisms; advance repeatedly, motor-driven and remotely controlled, especially for starter cylinders and regulators of electric motors.

   The invention consists in having one or more force accumulators, the energy reserve of which depends on the reciprocal position of the parts connected by the force accumulators, between the motor actuating the starter and the starter shaft. The rotation of the motor modifies the reciprocal position so as to accumulate force which, when a determined position is reached, releases a stop device and discharges automatically, the axis of the starter passing jerkily to the next position.

   As force accumulators we can use

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 for example, coil springs or leaf springs. and retort trigger devices for example
 EMI2.1
 spring clips. Depending on the various individual elc: 7ents employed, the possibilities for implementing the invention are very different.

   Fig. 1 shows, by way of example, a one-sided repeated advance mechanism. 1 designates the ratchet ring with notches or recesses 2 corresponding in number to the number of cylinder connection positions. In these notches rests a pawl 3. 4 denotes a stop spring, which presses the pawl into the notches 2. The pawl 3 is fixed on an angled lever
5 against which the stop spring 4 rests. The angled lever 5 is connected to the axis of the switch. 6 denotes a curved lever which is actuated by the cylinder control and which is connected to the elbow lever 5 by a force accumulator 7. for example a coil spring. The spring 7 is guided by a movable pin in a tubular part.

   The curve 8 of the curve lever 6 moves on the roller 9 of the pawl 3.

   When the motor operates the bend lever in the direction! Of the arrow, the spring 7 is first of all compressed., At the same time the roller 9 rolls on the bend 8. so that the pawl is released slowly. of the notch against the tension of the spring 4. When the pawl 3 is released from the notch, the spring 7 @ relaxes and turns the elbow lever 5 sharply in the direction of the arrow until that the pawl 3 jumps into the next notch. this engagement being ensured by the spring 4 which relaxes. In this way, the cylinder advances from one position to the other until the motor is disconnected or the cylinder has reached the last position.

   So that the cylinder cannot advance beyond the last position. the last notch 10 is higher in a way than the

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 ratchet cannot be lifted over it.

   On recall, the stop device is no longer effective and the pawl slides' on the various notches,
When- the cylinder must-, pass abruptly from one position 4 to the other in the backward movement. the advance mechanism has two sides.

   One such arrangement in which a leaf spring is used is shown in FIG. 2; 11 designates the ratchet ring which is provided with notches or stops 12 and 13. the notches 12 for one direction of rotation, the notches 13 for the other. 14 and 15 denote the corresponding pawls. These two pawls are mounted in the lever 1c and are connected to each other by a tension spring 17. 18 and 19 denote two curved parts on which the rollers 20 and 21 of the two are applied. ratchets. 22 and 23 denote two intermediate pieces which are connected to each other by a leaf spring 28.

   The lever 16 is connected to the axis of the switch. and the two curve pieces 18 and 19 to the switch drive motor. The operation of the device is as follows:
When the drive motor operates, for example in the direction of the arrow, the two curved pieces 18 and 19 connected to this motor, the piece 19 moves away from the intermediate piece 23. But the piece 18 comes together. - Plates by its stop 24 on the stop 25 of the intermediate piece 22 and thus drives this piece with it in the direction of rotation. On the other hand, the intermediate piece 23 is retained. because it is applied by its stop 26 against the stop 27 of the lever 16. But the pawl 14 still prevents the rotation of the lever 16.

   Consequently, the intermediate piece 23 cannot move and the spring 28 connecting the two intermediate pieces is strained. In its movement in the direction of the arrow, the curved piece 19 moves the roller 21 away from the

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

 pawl 14 which now slides out of the notch against the tension of the spring 17. As it leaves the notch, the tension of the spring 28 will turn the intermediate piece 23 sharply in the direction of the arrow and with it the lever 16. The spring 17 immediately returns the pawl, so that this pawl is applied in the next notch. The play is repeated until the motor is disconnected or the cylinder has reached its last position.

   In reverse the process is the same in the opposite direction.

   In the examples described above, the force accumulators are tensioned, but of course compression-stressed force accumulators can be employed. Helical or leaf springs are used as force accumulators. However, the invention is not limited to this use and other force accumulators can be employed, for example a piston hermetically guided in a cylinder.

  The piston is connected for example to the elbow lever and the. curved sink according to fig. 1. The reciprocal movement of the cylinder and the piston compresses the air in the cylinder and this air serves as a force accumulator.

   The accumulated force can also be adjustable, for example, because in the construction of FIG.

  2, the parts 18, 19 or 22, 23 are arranged so that they are movable with respect to one another. or that, in the construction of FIG. 1, the spring 7 is given a preliminary tension by means of interposed washers. This increase in the accumulated force increases the abruptness of the movement in the advance.

   The constructions of fig. 1 and 2 are used for control cylinders with one-sided development. In the case of bilateral development, the two notch rings are separated from each other. This construction is shown in fig. 3 which shows at the same

 <Desc / Clms Page number 5>

 time another arrangement and construction of levers and cams.

   In this fig. 3, the ring of notches with notches 32 and 33, the number of which corresponds to the degrees of connection for the two developments of the cylinder.

   Against the notches apply the pawls 34 and 35 that the springs 36 and 37 pull into the notches.

   The pawls are mounted on the lever 38 which is connected to the axis of the switch and is influenced by the force accumulating springs 39 and 40. 41 indicates the control lever which is connected to the motor and which carries the curved piece 42; depending on the direction of movement, this part lifts the pawl out of its notch.
35 or the pawl 34. The operation is the same as in the examples described above,
Multi-feed mechanisms can be used in the starter rolls for advancing, but in all cases where the operating conditions are similar.

   Fig. 4 shows the combination of an advance mechanism with motor and cylinder. 43 designates the cylinder. On this cylinder is arranged the advance mechanism 44 times, on which the drive motor 45 is fixed by flange.
