 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

  "Improvements to filters"
The invention relates to filters of the type of those using a filter material through which the liquid to be filmed is passed.

   It aims, above all, to make these filters more durable than until now.

   It consists mainly - at the same time of constituting the bottom of the tanks which include the filters of the kind, question by at least two perforated plates, and separated by a perforated fabric intended to maintain the filtering material - to arrange in such a way, the holes to make said plates understand, that the holes of two neighboring plates, instead of being superimposed when the plates are in place, are on the contrary offset with respect to each other.

   Apart from this main provision, it consists of certain other provisions which are preferably used at the same time and which will be discussed more explicitly below.

   It relates more particularly to certain modes of application, as well as certain embodiments of said arrangements; and she

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 more particularly, and this as new industrial products, is aimed at filters of the type in question comprising application of the same provisions, special elements specific to their establishment, as well as installations comprising similar filters.

   And it can, in any event, be understood with the aid of the additional description which follows, as well as the appended drawing, which supplement and drawing are, of course, given above all by way of indication. .

   FIG. 1 of this drawing shows, in partial section, a filter established in accordance with the invention.

   Figs. 2 and 3 show in horizontal projection, in two different positions, 1 one of the perforated plates that the said filter comprises.

   Fig. 4, finally, shows in partial section, on a larger scale, part of this same filter.

   According to the invention, and more particularly according to that of its modes of application, as well as those of the embodiments of its various parts, to which it seems that preference must be given, proposing, for example, to establish a filter using a filter material through which the liquid to be filtered is passed, said material being held in a tank the bottom of which is established so as to allow the filtered liquid to flow, the procedure is as follows, or similarly :

The walls of said tank are established in any suitable manner, and in any material, and the bottom of this same tank is formed using at least two plates a1, a2 which are made to rest on suitable supports and which are made to include holes b suitable for allowing passage of the filtered liquid, the filter material being retained by a cloth c, for example of metal, which is interposed between the two aforesaid plates.

   As regards the position to be given to said holes, instead, as has been done until now, of making this position such that, when the plates are placed on their supports, the holes of one of the plates are superimposed on those of the neighboring plate, a similar arrangement having the disadvantage that, during a rupture of the

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 wire mesh (by accident, corrosion, lack of weaving, etc.), the filtering material passes with the liquid and is evacuated with it, the said holes are arranged in such a way that, once the plates are in place , they are mazes in relation to each other, as well as
 EMI3.1
 shown in fig.

   - -t- J, rice a bzz For the case, in particular, -6 <Ta uval-ao rectangular, one resorts, preferably, to identical plates, which one makes include holes arranged in such a way, by with respect to the axes of symmetry of these same plates, so that it is possible, by arranging the identical plates intended to be juxtaposed in a different way, to obtain the suitable arrangement of the holes of one of the plates with respect to the holes of the plate neighbor.

   This is so, for example, that having identical plates such as those represented in fig. 3, they can be placed, either in the position indicated in this same figure, or by turning them around their axes dl , d2, in the position shown in fig. 4.

   It can easily be seen that by superimposing two plates occupying the respective positions of FIGS. 3 and 4, the desired arrangement is obtained for the holes in these plates.

   In the case where the tank has a circular section, it is also possible to use similar plates; For example, to obtain the offset of the holes, it suffices to cause the successive plates to occupy a different position, relative to their central axis.

   Finally, advantageously, the lower plate a1 of the established base, as has just been said, is given slightly smaller dimensions than that of the neighboring plate, so that one can easily provide, on the supports e of said base , gaskets which are formed, for example, by rubber gaskets f, said gaskets made it possible to avoid, in particular, that, during the blowing operations which the cleaning of filters of the type in question requires. , the blowing air cannot rise along the walls of the tank.

   Whatever the embodiment adopted, one obtains thanks to

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

 to the invention of filters having many advantages over existing devices of the type in question, in particular: that of being robust since the filtering material is not liable to be entrained by the liquid current during a canvas breaking,
 EMI4.1
 the one dflltro has: l.mpJ.pn nt fuoilon in oonmtruiro.

   As goes without saying, and as it follows moreover already from what precedes, the invention is in no way limited to that of its modes of application, nor to those of the embodiments of its various parts which have been more specifically indicated; on the contrary, it embraces all the variants thereof, in particular those where more than two plates would be used.
