Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

  Broyeur.

    @

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

    @

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 6>

  Crusher.

   The present invention, which relates to improvements to gyratory mills, aims to provide an improved form of resilient support device for the crusher cone which protects the crusher against breakage of parts when material not susceptible to collapse. being ground (hard iron for example) enters the hopper, and against an excessive force when the crusher is clogged with clay material.

   Another object of the invention is to provide a device making it possible to adjust the head of the crusher without interrupting the operation of the latter.

    @

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

Still other objects of the invention will emerge from the following description of an exemplary embodiment, given with reference to the appended drawings in which:
Fig. 1 is a median vertical section of the crusher.

   Fig. 2 is a horizontal section taken along line 2-2 of FIG. 1.

   Fig. 3 is a section through the upper end of the shaft, collar and related parts taken on line 3-3 of Fig.2.

   Fig. 4 is a detailed sectional view taken on line 4-4 of FIG. 1.

   Fig. 5 is a central vertical section of a variant of the mill.

   Fig. 6 is a section taken along line 6-6 of FIG. 5, and
Fig. 7 is a detailed sectional view taken along line 7-7 of FIG. 5.

   Fig. 8 is a detail elevational view of the spring cage and related parts.

   In these drawings, 1 designates the crusher shaft which carries a crusher cone 2 provided with a lining 2a. The gyratory shaft is suspended at its upper end, by means of a device described more fully below, from the collar 4 which, in the embodiment shown in FIG. 1, is formed integrally with the upper part 5 of the housing on the internal face of which are applied the gaskets 6 of concave section.

  This upper part 5 of the housing rests on a lower part 7 and is bolted to the latter, which contains the relief diaphragm and the eccentric bearing.

    @

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

As these latter parts as well as the device which actuates the eccentric are of a well known type, it was considered unnecessary to give a more detailed description thereof.

   The upper end of the shaft 1 carries a sleeve 8, the outer face of which has a slight taper from bottom to top to allow the gyratory movement of the shaft; this sleeve and the shaft are assembled by the usual contractile nut 9 screwed onto the upper end of reduced diameter la of the shaft, the outer surface of the nut having a certain taper from top to bottom to cooperate with the inner surface of corresponding taper of the upper end of the sleeve 8. This sleeve is surrounded by a floating ferrule 10 provided at its lower end with an inner annular shoulder or rim 10a which is placed under the lower end of the sleeve 8 and supports the latter (and therefore the rotating shaft) via the wear ring 11.

   The floating ferrule is provided at its upper end with an outer rim 10b which rests on the ends 12a of a lever (or levers) 12 articulated in a hollow part of the body 4 as clearly shown in FIG. 2. Near their ends 12a, the arms 12 are curved so as to be approximately concentric with the shaft and their ends are directed upward and provided with convex seats on which the flange 10b rests as shown in dotted lines on. Fig. 1; these staves act by sliding in the manner of cams.

  The levers 12 are articulated on pivots mounted in the walls of the collar 4, part of these pivots forming

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

 projection in the spaces between the ferrule 10 and the collar and the levers presenting at the lower part rounded recesses 12c in which these pivots are housed.

   The opposite ends of the levers 12 are connected by a bolt 14 to the eyelet of a bolt or eyelet rod 15 which passes through an opening 4a of the collar and is subjected to the action of springs which are held in place. nish the ends of the levers lowered and the rotary shaft and cone raised.

   It is preferable to use several springs which bear on two opposite seats 16, 17 pierced with openings through which the bolt 15 passes. These springs 18, two in number, are arranged on either side. - be of the bolt and are compressed between seats 16 and 17.

  The seat 16 is provided on either side of the bolt 16a in the form of wedges, which bear in corresponding housings made in ribs 19 on the underside of the collar 4, on either side of opening 4a.

   The lower end of bolt 15 is threaded to receive a nut 20 provided with a lever or control handle 21 with which it can be rotated to adjust the spring tension.

   The spring seats are preferably provided with bolts 18a passing axially through the springs and slidable through openings in the seat 17. A part 4b of the collar 4 extends between the lever arms as shown in FIG. . 2, so as to constantly guide the floating ring 10 to maintain it in the axial position.

   It is easy to understand by the description that @

 <Desc / Clms Page number 5>

 precedes that the device in question resiliently supports the shaft and the cone of the crusher, which allows them to yield under excessive force, and, moreover, that this device can be easily adjusted during operation of the crusher.

   Covers 22 and 22a preferably cover the upper end of the shaft, the sleeve assembly and the lever arms, in order to prevent access of dust, etc.

   The top of the housing 5 which is between the arms of the collar and which constitutes the feed hopper is provided with wear plates 23.

   In a crusher of the type described, as the head or cone has at its base a larger diameter than the concave seal, part 5 of the housing must necessarily be removed before the cone and the shaft can be removed by lifting, when the desire. By making the part 5 of the housing and the collar 4 in one piece, this removal is simplified and there is a saving in weight as well as a simplification and economy of manufacture.

   However, such a construction can only be suitable for small-sized crushers. For larger crushers, it is desirable to separate the upper part of the housing and the collar.

   A separate piece construction is shown in FIG. 5. The 4x collar rests in a housing or seat at the top of the 5x upper casing or casing, the spring bolt 15a passing through mating openings in the bottom of the collar and the corresponding part of its seat in the collar. crankcase.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 6>

   In these heavier types, it is preferable to employ several springs, for example groups of four springs, and to divide the springs transversely to form upper and lower groups, the adjacent ends of which are housed in the housing seats of support 24 which face each other and can slide on the bolt 15a and the guide bolts of the springs, the latter being in this case preferably situated between the springs.
