BREVET D'INVENTION.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

PATENT. "Improvements made to two-stroke internal combustion engines comprising a feed pump, in particular to those in which said pump is constituted by an annular chamber surrounding the cylinder".
The invention relates to two-stroke internal combustion engines comprising a feed pump; and it concerns more particularly (because it is in their case that its application seems to offer the most interest), but not exclusively, among these engines those comprising a feed pump constituted by an annular chamber. surrounding the piston.
Its main purpose is to improve the operation of these engines.
It mainly consists in providing, for the intake, orifices uncovered by the engine piston when the latter is in the vicinity of its bottom dead center and then placing the delivery chamber of the pump in communication with the engine cylinder, and, for the exhaust, at least one orifice disposed at the upper part of the aforesaid cylinder.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
It consists, apart from this main provision, of certain other provisions which are preferably used at the same time and which will be discussed more explicitly below.
And it relates more particularly to a certain mode of application, as well as certain embodiments, of said arrangements; and it relates more particularly still, and this as new industrial products, to the engines of the type in question comprising the application of these same provisions, the special elements specific to their establishment, as well as the installations, fixed or mobile, comprising of similar engines.
And it can, in any event, be clearly understood with the aid of the additional description which follows, as well as the appended drawing, which supplement and drawing are, of course, given above all by way of indication.
The single figure in this drawing shows, in axial section, a two-stroke engine established in accordance with the inventi on.
According to the invention, and more particularly according to that of its modes of application, as well as those of the embodiments of its various parts, to which it appears that preference should be given, proposing to establish a two-stroke internal combustion engine, comprising a feed pump consisting of an annular chamber surrounding the cylinder, the procedure is as follows or similarly.
The engine is arranged as a whole, for example, in any appropriate way, but there are provided for the intake, orifices discovered by the engine piston when the latter is in the vicinity of its bottom dead center and placing the aforesaid chamber in communication. with the lower part of the cylinder and, for the exhaust, at least one orifice arranged at
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
the upper part of the aforesaid cylinder.
For this purpose, recourse is had, for example also to that of the embodiments illustrated by the figure and according to which the procedure is as follows.
A cylinder a is established, in which the aforesaid intake ports b are provided and such that it is suitable for receiving a piston ±, articulated on a connecting rod d, itself articulated on a crank pin of the driving shaft. , the piston exposing the intake ports b when it is in the vicinity of its bottom dead center. \ ,.
A housing e is established, the upper walls of which are extended sufficiently high around the cylinder, so that it is connected to an annular chamber el, in which there is a piston which is itself annular f, which is connected to a actuation device suitable for imparting an alternate movement to it, which is why, for example, said piston f is articulated on a connecting rod g, itself articulated on a crank pin h, judiciously wedged with respect to the crank pin of the connecting rod of the engine piston (for example at 180).
A pump is thus formed for supplying the engine, the pump of which obviously the dimensions are provided so that it can ensure the desired degree of filling of the cylinder.
This pump, of course, is punished with appropriate distribution means which, for example, as regards the means for controlling the suction, are constituted by slots provided in the walls of the pump body. annular el and discovered by the annular piston f. when the latter is in the vicinity of its bottom dead center, and, as regards the means for controlling the discharge, by the inlet ports of the cylinder itself, the latter being uncovered, in due course, by the motor piston c.
However, advantageously, it is arranged so
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
such that the orifices b successively regulate the suction and the discharge of the feed pump, openings uncovered at the end of the travel being optionally provided in addition, to complete the filling.
For this purpose, the skirt of the piston ± is fitted with lights i such that they reveal the orifices b when the piston c is in the vicinity of its dead center, then placing the annular pump body e1 and the interior of the piston in communication. , which is, of course, open at its lower part.
The capacity of the crankcase, for example by a pipe j, is connected with the atmosphere, advantageously with the interposition of a purification system k, preferably that described in patent No. 298,510 filed with the same name on May 28, 1931.
To control the exhaust port, a large valve 1 is provided, itself actuated by any suitable device.
At the end of which, an internal combustion engine has been produced, the operation of which is sufficiently obvious that it is not necessary to enter, concerning it, in any further further explanation, an engine which has, among other advantages, over similar engines. already exist. to ensure, simply, a perfect evacuation of the burnt gases, which, lighter, escape from the upper part of the cylinder, while the air, admitted under pressure to the lower part of said cylinder, drives these burnt gases, leaving, so to speak, no residue in the interior of the cylinder, if the flow rate of the feed pump is sufficient to ensure a certain flushing.
As goes without saying, and as it follows moreover already from what precedes, the invention is in no way limited to that of its modes of application, nor to those of the modes of realization of its various parts, having been more specially indicated ;. it embraces, on the contrary, all the variants thereof, in particular those where one would apply to the explosion engines, the feed pump then delivering the fuel mixture.
