  "Fusil-mitrailleur. "

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

The rifle-submachine gun illustrated in figures ui ... j OJJ: 1- tes, and in accordance with the present invention, consists substantially of a barrel l.laquel presents, compared to the barrel of the rifles of ordinary warfare, the characteristic of having a greater thickness and of being profiled outside.
 EMI3.4
ment following a succession a'allettes, the purpose of which is to give the weapon greater resistance to vibrations and heating, which manifests itself in particular in prolonged shooting.

Another characteristic of the barrel resides in the ball joint guide 1A and in the fact that it included elements 10B and 10C, on which can easily be adjusted a bayonet of the ordinary type ... The ball joint guide is constituted by a substantially spherical member 1A, integral with the barrel and capable of moving in a housing 3B, the length of which is determined as a consequence of the recoil of the barrel.

On the other hand, the barrel 1 is fixed on the breech 2

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

by screwing, so that the said barrel is terminated by a
 EMI4.1
 parts 2A / exeri9urment threaded.

This arrangement therefore makes the barrel and the breech rigidly integral. These two elements, duly assembled, are cord and capable of being moved in a back and forth movement the amplitude of which is, for example, of the order of 2mm. Relative to the fixed parts of the weapon.

this mobile assembly, barrel 1 and breech 2, is carried and guided, on the one hand, by the extension 3A of the breech box 3, in which the tubular groove 3B is made parallel to the core of the barrel. forming the aforementioned housing of the ball joint 1A and on the other hand, by the guide 3C of the cylinder head oote it around which is adjusted the inner, posterior part of the cylinder head 2 and on which the latter slides.

The limitation of the movements of the group, barrel 1 - breech 2, is determined, for the recoil movement, by the fact that the lower part 3B of the breech ± meets
 EMI4.2
the bottom of the groove SD of the breech 6, and, for the movement dc, return or return, is determined by the ball guide 1A of the barrel, which comes out against the pin

Finally, the cylinder head, still carries, internally, 1, # intermediate sink 8, except that a fixing washer 9 and a spring 30, are sncore doors, externally, by the cylinder head.
 EMI5.2

The axis .fabriuè in one piece with its extension z (tig.l5) and the handle 8A, profiled so as to form the cocking crank, crosses on both sides the yoke û, which is , to ver effect, ren1'oroée to the right of the parties & Ôj% raverséeB by said axis.

A reinforcement is necessary of the milk of the particular fatigue which this part of the weapon must undergo in
 EMI5.3
due to the high pressure prevailing in the interior of the chamber.
 EMI5.4
The oscillating lever 7 (igs.l5 and 14), is supported by axis 8 and can rotate freely around it.

This lever is secured to the hurdy-gurdy .jumeler 5-5C at the intervefitiun of the journal 'la, the twin connecting rod being, to
 EMI5.5
its turn, connected by its other end, to the two dowels 41 (iig.16), located on the rear part of the cubasse block. use aarniar can, in turn, slide freely inside the cylinder head 2 on 2D guides.
 EMI5.6
As a result, the lever 1 is pushed forward together with the journal 7A because it is
 EMI5.7
biased by the return spring 1.2, via the zpnon ill of the tensioner 14.

In its forward movement, the journal z1 pushes back the twin connecting rod t) -5H, while the other end of this last pushes the breech block 4 in front of it, this movement being limited by the contact of the front part of breech block with barrel thunder 1.

At this moment, the journal 7A of the lever 7 and the rod ± are in the horizontal position and at the level of the axis of the barrel soul and of the axis 8. These organs are firmly held. in this position, a

Therefore, for a better understanding of the func-
 EMI6.2
tioanemsnt of the weapon, one can suppose, for example, that an oattouohe is brought into the chamber and that one operates the perou- ion. Because of this, the weapon is solicited by an effort which determined a movement recoil. the latter provokes the movements
 EMI6.3
 following elements of the different organs: the oanun 1 and the aulas- 4 retreating orus- cally at the instant following the deflagration;

all the closing mechanisms remain in their initial position for the time necessary for a setback of the order, for example, 14 mm, which has the consequence of keeping the chamber closed for a certain time, from where. the result is an increase in the linear velocity of the projectile.
 EMI6.4
making this first repul of -Lenssmble, ceyion I- yoke z, the return spring 15 is tensioned in coasdqtience and absorbs, therefore, a ljE) reduced (the quantity of the 1i'ort which solicits said recoiling members . u- = ttp partial absorptionij thus constitutes a relief for the shooter's shoulder and gives the weapon a more

 great stability.

After backward movement of about 14mm, the cam 1Q is launched against the roller 6 locusl is fixed and forces said cam to rise, thus determining the tumble of the end 7A by rotating the lever 7 around the axis 8 .

From this milk, the twin connecting rod b-5à, which is in constant connection with said end 7A, follows this movement towards the back.

The yoke 2 remains maintained almost to the full stroke by the pawl 35.

Therefore, under the commands of the return spring 13, the agent acts until the return to the rest position, the breech 2 and the barrel 1, advance, causing all the organs they carry.

Therefore, if the trigger 32 is pressed, this last
 EMI8.4
has aasculated the lever z3 which attacks the tail of the lever .8, which in turn forces the prominence 19A of the
 EMI8.5

 EMI8.6
return movement of the ENSE, mbls, oanon and breech, and the zone.

The revival of the weapon will be continuous and automatic until the complete exhaustion of all the cartridges in the magazine.
 EMI8.7

5However, one of the main characteristics of

 <Desc / Clms Page number 9>

the invention being that the weapon can be used both for continuous firing and for firing "shot by shot", the rifle comprises, for the latter alternative, a special part 45. When the latter is situated in the position B , indicated in fig. 18, part 4 = SA. carried by the breech 2.disengages, after the start of the blow and during the movement of
 EMI9.1
recoil, the upper part of the lever 63. elui-oi, while tilting, returns the trigger lever 32 to its original position, a movement that the shooter's finger must follow. However, the whole mechanism has operated and the firing pin remains armed.

A new cartridge is automatically fine in the chamber and it follows, accordingly, to press the trigger 32 again to cause the firing of a second projectile, and so on.

The device 4b is held in its position
 EMI9.2
Out by a spring clip 44a 'where it follows that one can shoot either "step by step", or continuously.

In addition, this fork can be removed by simple manual maneuvers, since it suffices to turn the fork to the left or to the right, approximately 18u degrees, and to withdraw it afterwards, in order to extract the ball joint 10A from its housing where it remains held in the normal position, on the one hand / by the pin
