 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 6>

   REVENDICATIONS.

  PATENT OF INVENTION II Vibrating device for tamping and sieving apparatus ".

   The present invention relates to a vibrating device for the production of vibrations in apparatus for compacting granular or heterogeneous materials such as concrete, and in apparatus for sieving and dimensioning granular products.

   Various kinds of vibrating screens of this kind are known, in which the apparatus is mounted on springs or similar elastic members and in which the vibrations are caused by means of a driving member such as for example a motor. electric vibrator mounted on the device, that is to say a motor whose rotor is provided with one or more exoentered masses, the rotation of which has the effect

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 to communicate the desired vibrations to the device.

   In other devices, the frame of the screen is fixed and the motor is connected to the screen itself, that is to say to the wire mesh of the screen. The vibrations are made possible by the relatively high elasticity of the screen itself.

   In all the known devices, the amplitudes of the vibrations are relatively small for economically acceptable driving forces.

   On the other hand, the amplitude of these vibrations depends, among other things, on the state of charge of the sieve or mold to be vibrated, that is to say that the amplitude of the vibrations vary in particular in the sieves, as the material is sieved, depending on the mass of the element to be vibrated.

   According to the present invention, provision is made to connect the elements to be made to vibrate to the motor member by means of an elastic connection such as one or more springs.

   By elements to be made to vibrate is meant either vibrating tables intended to receive the molds or containers of materials to be packed, or the fabrics of vibrating screens, or also the frames of such screens, or finally the walls of molds or formwork provided that these walls have elasticity, which is practically always the case.

   In this way, one can reach the vibrations of maximum amplitude, corresponding to a phenomenon of resonance between the natural period of the oscillations of the system and the period of the oscillations due to the motor organ, by an appropriate adjustment of the variables which are available to the manufacturer or the user. The amplitude corresponding to said resonance phenomenon is constant and independent of the variable mass of the element to be vibrated, at least between certain limits.

 sees to combine this mode of elastic connection between the motor member and the element to be made to vibrate, with the arrangement known per se and which consists in supporting the element to be made vibrate by other elastic connections.

   It is thus possible, by a suitable choice of the value of the characteristics of these new elastic links and for a determined value of the mass of the element to be made to vibrate, to achieve conditions such that the motor member is itself practically subtracted from the vibrations while the element to be vibrated is subjected to the desired vibrations.

   Other details and features of the invention will become apparent from the description of the accompanying drawings which show by way of example only various embodiments of the invention.

   FIG. 1 schematically represents a vibrating device according to the invention applied to a sieve composed of several superimposed fabrics, another
Figure 2 shows one embodiment of the invention and Figure 3 shows a variant of the arrangement of Figure 2.

   Figure 4 relates to a constructive detail.

   In Figure 1 there is shown schematically a sieve composed of several superimposed webs '2, 2', 2 "of different sizes and suitable for the sieving and dimensional classification of ores and the like.

   The frames 3, 3 ', 3 "of the fabrics are supported by a fixed frame, not shown and the fabrics are connected by a rod 4, to a driving member 5, by means of an elastic connection constituted by a spring 6 .

   The motor member 5 is an electric vibrator motor of a known type, comprising an eccentric mass 5 ', the rotation of which generates the desired vibrations.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

   This motor is mounted at the end of a pivoting lever 7 movable around a fixed point 8. 11 can also be freely suspended from the end of the spring.

   The rotation of the motor and the elastic connection 6 generate vibrations of which the maximum amplitude, corresponding to a phenomenon of resonance between the vibrations due to the motor and those due to the elastic connection, can be reached and maintained independently of variations. any of the mass of the sieves to be vibrated.

   To reach this maximum amplitude, it is possible to act on certain variables: either on the mass of the driving member 5, for example by adding additional fixed masses, or on the constant of the spring 6, for example by modifying the number of active turns, or again on the nonbre of vibrations due to the driving organs per unit of time.

   Thanks to the elastic connection between the motor member and the element to be made to vibrate, the vibrations corresponding to the resonance are maintained as the sieving progresses, that is to say independently of the variations of mass. sieves resulting from the gradual elimination of the mass of material to be treated.

   On the other hand, thanks to the resonance phenomenon, the amplitudes of the vibrations are considerably increased for the same expenditure of driving force.

   FIG. 2 shows a vibrating table 10, capable of receiving a mold or the like container containing materials to be packed.

   The table 10 is connected on the one hand to a fixed support 11-11 by means of the springs 12-12 and on the other hand to the motor member 13 by other springs 14-14.

   The motor member 13 is constituted as in the case of FIG. 2, by an electric motor, the rotor of which carries one or more eccentric masses 13 '.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 5>

   By suitably choosing the value of the mass of the motor 13, the value of the constants of the springs 12 and 14 and the speed of rotation of the motor 13, it is possible, for a given value of the mass of the table 10, for example for running at vacuum subtract the motor from vibrations while the element to be vibrated is subjected to the dedicated vibrations.

   Instead of suspending the table 10, it is provided, according to another embodiment of the invention, shown in Figure 3, to support the table 20 on four springs 21 working in compression and suspend the motor 22 below the table via four other springs 23.

   In order to allow the various desired adjustments, as regards the amplitude of the vibrations, means are in particular provided for modifying the constant of the springs, that is to say, the elasticity of the connections.

   For this purpose, provision is made, as shown in FIG. 4, to provide the ends of the springs 23 with cylinders 24 notched at their periphery along a helix whose pitch corresponds to the pitch of the turns of the spring.

   By screwing said cylinders between a greater or lesser number of turns, the number of active turns and consequently the spring constant is modified.

   In the spring shown in FIG. 4, the turns 23 ′ are made inactive and only the turns 23 ″ are used.

   In Figures 1 to 3, it has been assumed that the motor member is constituted by an electric motor comprising an eccentric mass. It is obviously possible to use other motor components such as pneumatic pistons animated by a rapid reciprocating rectilinear movement, or other devices capable of communicating to the element to be made to vibrate a certain number of vibrations per unit of time.

   The essential characteristic is in fact copied, in that this motor organ whatever it is, is connected to the ele-

 <Desc / Clms Page number 6>

 to vibrate by means of an elastic link.

   It is obvious that the invention is not exclusively limited to the embodiment shown and that many modifications can be made in the form, the arrangement and the number of the elements involved in its realization without departing for this. within the scope of this patent.
