BREVET D'INVENTION " APPAREIL DE COMMANDE DE PORTES "
EMI1.1
D'autres avantages et particularités de l'inven- tion ressortiront de la description qui va en être faite avec références aux dessins annexés, dans lesquels;
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
En décrivant le fonctionnement de l'appareil re- présenté sur la Fig. 2, on supposera, comme cela est repré- senté sur cette figure, que tout le mécanismeest dans la position où les portes sont fermées et est placé pour le fonctionnement normal. Du courant arrive du côté positif de la source de courant par le fil %, passe par l'inter- rupteur 28 (on remarquera que les pôles mobiles de cet in- terrupteur, comme cela est courant avec un interrupteur bi- polaire, ne sont pas reliés l'un à l'autre), la résistance 68, le fil 69 où il s'arrête sur l'interrupteur 70 qui est normalement fermé ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>
<Desc/Clms Page number 10>
<Desc/Clms Page number 11>
<Desc/Clms Page number 12>
<Desc/Clms Page number 13>
<Desc/Clms Page number 14>
<Desc/Clms Page number 15>
<Desc/Clms Page number 16>

PATENT OF INVENTION "DEVICE FOR CONTROLLING DOORS"
EMI1.1
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ The present invention relates to to door control devices for vehicles, such as tramways, buses, electric trains, etc ...
@ The main object of the present invention is to provide an improved and simplified type of electrically operated door mechanism for vehicles.
Other advantages and features of the invention will emerge from the description which will be given with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which;
Fig. 1 is a longitudinal cross section of the motor operating the door, according to the invention.
Fig. 2 is a wiring diagram of the apparatus according to the invention, using the motor of FIG. 1 in its application to a three-door vehicle comprising a single folding door at the rear, a double folding door in the center of the vehicle and a double folding door in front of the latter.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The motor has a suitable housing 1 with the ordinary field winding 2, shown schematically, and the ordinary armature 3, also shown schematically. The armature 3 is mounted on a shaft 4 which pivots in the bearings 5 and 6 of the housing. This shaft has a central bore extending over its entire length and the end of this bore is tapped at 7.
A shaft 8, sliding longitudinally, is threaded over an intermediate part of its length, at 9¯, to engage with the tapping of the part of the shaft. The casing 1 comprises a cap 10 at one of its ends with a threaded boss on which a tube or cylinder is fixed. This tube comprises a longitudinal internal rib 12 which engages with a groove formed on the periphery of the housing. a disc 13 which is fixed to the end of the shaft 8.
Likewise, at the threaded end of the shaft is fixed a lug 14 which pivots, by means of a connecting rod 15, on an arm 17 rigidly fixed on the shaft 18 on which the door can be mounted. or similar device to be actuated. The connecting rod 15 and the lever 17 are articulated on each other by means of a pin or bolt 16. When the engine is energized, so that the armature .2. and the shaft 4 rotate, the shaft 8 moves longitudinally to the left and does not rotate due to the engagement of the disc 13 on the rib 12. The movement of the shaft 8 causes, by means of the connections, the rotation of the shaft 18. When the motor is energized in the opposite direction, the shaft 8 returns to the position shown by rotating the shaft 18 in the opposite direction.
The engine as just described and when

that it is applied to a circuit such as that shown in FIG. 2, is made to withstand the excitement when wedged. As will become apparent from the description of the operation of the installation, the motor remains fully energized at the end of travel in any of its directions, thus maintaining the shaft 18 in any of its extreme positions up to that the motor is energized in reverse order.
The installation diagram in Fig. 2 shows the application of a motor of this type to the operation of the doors of a vehicle. The vehicle is indicated by its outline 20 and is provided with two four-leaf folding doors 21 and a two-leaf folding door 21 ', which, as shown, is the rear door of the vehicle. vehicle. The motors used to operate these doors are shown in 2A 2B, 2C, 2D and 2E.
Motor 2A opens and closes door 21 '. Motors 2B and 2C open and close the left and right leaf of the center door, respectively, while motors 2D and 2E open and close the left and right leaves of the front door, respectively. Each motor has four terminals, two for the field winding and two for the armature. One of the terminals of each armature is grounded by connection 22, 'and the other terminal of the armature is connected, in each case, by a wire 23 to the common points of the three resistors 24, 25, 26 which are provided for each engine. 27 is the connection with the positive side of the current source which, in the case of an underground railroad, for example, is the third rail carrying direct current at 600 volts, for example.
As
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
this is the case with these devices, the negative side of the current source is earthed. Link 27 goes to one of the fixed contacts of a bipolar switch 28.
The opposite contact of this switch is connected by a wire 29 to one of the resilient fingers R of the drum switch 30 which is actuated by the motor 2A. The other elastic finger R is connected by a wire 31 to the fixed left contact of the switch 28. The corresponding contact is connected by a wire 32 to the vehicle controller which controls the motors operating the vehicle. In this way, the motors which operate the vehicle are energized by the controller in the usual way, which controller in turn is energized by the R contact of the drum switch 30.
The wire 32 is connected, by a deflection, to the left contact of a single-pole two-position switch 36 and the corresponding contact is connected by a wire 33, passing through an appropriate resistor, to signals 34 which are grounded. .
When these signals are excited, in normal operation, the mechanic who is at this end of the car knows that the rear door 21 'is completely closed.
The wire 29 is connected by a wire 37 to the wire 39 which in turn is connected to the upper elastic fingers 1 and J and A and B of the drum switches 40 and 51. As shown in the drawing, the The upper elastic finger I is connected by a wire 38 to the wire 37, which is the same as if it were connected directly to the wire 39. The drum switches 40, 50, 51 and 53 are operated by hand. The wire 39 is also connected by a wire 41 to the upper elastic fingers y and N of the drum switch 50. The wire 39 is also connected by a wire 52.

The lower elastic finger N is connected by a wire 61 to the resistor 24 and to the other terminal of the field winding of the motor 2C.
At 62, 63, 64, 65, 66 and 67 and 100 are drum switches which are operated by the motors 2E, 2D, 2C, 2B and 2A respectively.
The lower contact of switch 28 is connected, by resistor 68, to wire 69 which is connected to one terminal of spring-loaded switch 70. The other terminal of this switch is connected to one of the terminals a switch

Wire 72 is connected by wire 73 to a terminal of one or more of the switches which are pedal operated, in accordance with well known practice. The other terminals of the foot switches are connected by a wire 75 to a terminal of the monopolar switch 92 with two pins. Wire 75 is connected by wire 76 to winding 78 of a grounded relay.
The plunger of this relay is provided with four contacts 79, 80, 81 and 82 which each cooperate with two fixed contacts. Contacts 80 and 82 connect the associated contacts, as shown in the drawing, when the relay is de-energized. A contact controlled by part 79 is connected to wire 83, resistor 24, and a terminal of the motor field winding 2A. A contact controlled by workpiece 80 is connected by wire 84 to resistor 25 and to the other terminal of the field winding of motor 2A The lower elastic finger S of drum switch 30 is connected by resistor 85 to the wire 75. In describing the operation of the apparatus shown in FIG. 2, it will be assumed, as shown in this figure, that the whole mechanism is in the position where the doors are closed and is placed for normal operation. Current arrives from the positive side of the current source through wire%, passes through switch 28 (note that the moving poles of this switch, as is common with a two-pole switch, are not not connected to each other), resistor 68, wire 69 where it stops on switch 70 which is normally closed;
also goes through the wire 86 to go to the upper elastic finger S which is not in circuit with the other elastic fingers, through the wire 87 to go to the sensitive edge switch 89 which is open. The current also passes through the wire 291 the elastic fingers
<Desc / Clms Page number 9>
R which are joined to each other, the wire 31, the other branch of the switch 28, the wire 32, to go to the motor controller, the rear door being thus closed, so - you that the elastic fingers R are joined to each other.
The current goes to the main controller and through it to the motors, so that the car can be operated.
The current also passes, coming from the wire 29, through the wire 38, the elastic fingers I connected together, the wire 58, the resistor 25, the wire 23, the armature of the motor 2B and then it goes to the ground, by link 22. Current also passes through the field winding of this motor and through resistor 24 to return to the common link of the resistors. The resistor 26 is connected, starting from one of the terminals of the armature winding, by the upper pair of the elastic drum switch 67 and, from there, by the wire 106 and the connected elastic fingers. one to the other, then goes to ground. As a result, the motor is excited and the armature is short-circuited by resistor 26.
As a result, the motor keeps the left half of the central door 21 closed. Current comes from wire 37, passes through wire 39, contact 80, wire 84, resistor 25 and the armature winding, through wires 23 and 22 to earth. Current also flows through resistor 24 to the other terminal of the field winding. Armature wire 23 is connected by resistor 26 and the upper pair of resilient fingers of switch 100 as well as wire 108 and contact 82 to ground. As a result, the motor 2A is energized with a reduced current, so as to keep the door closed. The current also passes, coming from the wire 39, through the wire 41, the
<Desc / Clms Page number 10>
elastic fingers M, wire 60, resistor 25, wire 23, the armature winding of the motor 2C and, from there, goes to ground by 22.
Current also comes through wire 60 to one of the terminals of the field winding, the other terminal of which is connected through resistor 24 to resistor 25.
The resistor 26 is connected by the two upper elastic fingers of the switch 65, the wire 104 and the elastic fingers connected to each other 0 of the switch 50 to ground. Likewise, wire 39 supplies current through drum switches 51 and 53 and 63 and 62 to motors 2D and 2E respectively. It can be seen that, the parts being in the position shown in the figure, all the doors are closed and remain closed by the motors which are excited and whose armatures are grounded by the resistance.
Further, current is supplied to the main controller and the light signals 34 are energized by switch 36 and wire 33 to indicate that the door is properly closed.
When the vehicle stops, the mechanic can open the doors 21 in the following way: He turns the drum of the switch 51 so that the contacts of the latter join the fingers and the fingers D.
The current then comes from wire 39 (which is still energized when switch 28 is closed), it passes through elastic fingers, wire 56, a 2D motor field terminal and also through resistor 24 to go to the armature of the 2D motor and, from there, to the mass. Current also flows through resistor 25 to the other terminal of the winding. The 2D motor is then excited in the opposite direction and as soon as it
<Desc / Clms Page number 11>
starts to rotate, it activates the drum switch 63, so that the connection between the two upper elastic fingers of this one is broken a second time, this circuit having already been cut when the switch A was activated from the position shown in the figure.
As a result, the 2D motor continues to open the door until near the end of its stroke, at which time the two lower resilient arms of the drum switch 63 are energized, thus switching on the resistance. 26 in the armature circuit, slowing the motor and supplying it with sufficient current to hold the door open without overheating the motor. It is hardly necessary to indicate the circuits for energizing the motor 2E in order to open the corresponding half of the front door when the switch 53 is set to connect the elastic fingers F and the elastic fingers H .
The mechanic at the same station or another operator at another station, as may be desirable, can, in the same way, reverse energize the motors 2B and C by means of the switches 40 and 50 respectively, so as to connect the pairs of elastic fingers J, L, N and P.
When the central doors open, the drum switches 64, 65, 66 and 67 are likewise actuated to connect the elastic fingers thereof in an obvious manner. As will be understood, each half of the front or central doors can be opened independently of the other. The operation of one of the two halves of the central door causes the operation of the corresponding drum switch 64 or 66, which makes
<Desc / Clms Page number 12>
that wire 96 is connected to wire 72, thus closing the circuit controlled by push button switch 71.
The current then passes from the current source through wire 69, switch 70 (which is normally closed and which, when open, prevents subsequent operations, including opening of the door. rear), wire 96, one or the other of the two drum switches 64 or 66 or both, it returns through the connection to wire 72, to wire 73 to go to the foot switches 74. If a traveler is is holding on the rear door pedal with the intention of exiting the vehicle, either of these switches is closed, causing current to flow through wire 75, wire 76 and winding 78 to go to ground.
The energization of the winding 78 moves the plunger so that the parts 79 and 81 join their contacts and the parts 80 and 82 move away from their contacts. Coming from the normally excited wire 39, the current passes through the part 79, the wire 83, the field winding of the motor 2A and the wire 84 on which are connected the resistors 24 and 25 whose common terminals are grounded via wire 23, the armature of the motor 2A and wire 22. The part 82, by freeing itself from its contacts, interrupts the short-circuit of the induction passing through resistor 26.
When the door approaches its fully open position, the drum switch 100 is actuated so as to unite its lower resilient fingers together, again shorting the armature by the armature. resistance 26 and slowing down the movement of the part until it stops.
Likewise, the operation of the motor 2A actuates the drum switch 30, cutting the connection
<Desc / Clms Page number 13>
between the elastic fingers R and cutting off the main controller of the car from the power supply, so that the car cannot be turned on, and also cutting off the circuit to the signal lamps 34, which indicates that the door is open. The operation of the drum switch 30 also unites all the elastic fingers S.
As a result, current can then flow, coming from resistor 68, through wire 86, the two upper resilient fingers S, to go to foot switch 74 thus providing a different circuit for these inlets. - switches, in the event that the central doors are closed, cutting the circuit going to them by one or the other of the switches 64 or 66, or by both. Current may also flow from wire 86 to the sensitive gate edge switch 89. Current flows from the lower resilient finger S through retaining resistor 85, wire 75, wire 76, and 1. Winding 78 to ground, holding the relay switch in the position it was pulled into.
The circuit coming from the switch 89 continues through the wire 88, the two lower elastic fingers T and the wire 90 to go to the wire 75. However, as soon as the door 21 'is fully open, the two lower elastic fingers are disconnected, which occurs when the circuit passing through the two lower elastic fingers 1 is established by the switch 89. As a result, the retaining circuit for the winding 88, which passes through resistance 85, is cut.
If you have stopped acting on the pedal, so that the switches 74 are open, the door then starts to close, since the winding 78 is de-energized and
<Desc / Clms Page number 14>
the contact parts 79, 80, 81 and 82 return to the positions shown in the drawing. The door continues to close until its complete closure interrupts all the connections between the elastic fingers S and T and establishes the connections by the elastic fingers R, so as to ignite the signals 34 and restore the current to the main controller.
However, if the closing door were to encounter an obstacle, such as a person, so that the switch 89 closes, current flows through wire 86, wire 87, switch 89, wire 88. and the two lower elastic fingers T which remain together until the door is substantially closed or at a point where no one can be caught in it, by the wire 90, the wire 75, the wire 76 and the winding 78 to go to ground.
Energizing wire 78 again re-establishes circuits causing the door to open, as previously described. The door continues to open until it comes to the fully open position because the elastic fingers S are connected to each other and the connection between the two lower elastic fingers is not connected. broken only when the door has been fully opened. When the door has been fully opened, with the pedal released and the obstacle removed, so that the switch 89 is opened, the door returns again to its closed position, the hold circuit passing through 85 having been cut when the door has reached its fully open position.
The door continues to close until it comes to its fully closed position, unless it encounters another obstacle. When the door has been com-
<Desc / Clms Page number 15>
fully closed and an object is caught in the door, switch 89 is closed and the upper contacts of drum switch T are united, passing current through wire 91, switch 92, wire 93 and the signaling device to go to earth, signaling to the operator that something is caught in the door and that he must not start the vehicle.
The rear door 21 'can likewise be opened independently of the operation of the central doors 21.
This is done by means of switch 71. When this switch is closed by the operator, the current from switch 70 passes through wire 72 and goes to pedal 74, so that if there is any one on the pedal and if the switches 74 are closed then the door opens and the regular cycle of operations proceeds as previously indicated.
The operator can also open the rear door if there is no one on the pedal, simply by moving the switch 92 to connect the wire 95 directly to the wire 75, thus energizing the winding. 78. At this moment, the bell 94 is switched off mainly because its electrical characteristics are such that it would directly short-circuit the winding 78, interfering with the operation of the latter.
However, this switch is not necessary at this time, since the operator is constantly operating the rear door. Obviously, by opening switch 28 all the equipment controlling the door is put out of action. At this time, current can be supplied to the main switch through wire 35 and switch 36.
<Desc / Clms Page number 16>
which is placed in its other position and, from there, it goes to the main controller. Likewise, by opening the switch 70 normally closed, the rear door is disabled.
From the foregoing it will be seen that the invention resides in numerous principles of construction and operation which may, in some cases, be carried out in other ways without departing from the spirit of the invention. - vention. Consequently, this is not strictly limited to the device described by way of explanation, but it can include many variations or modifications.
