BREVET D" nN1"lIl"TIOE FERMETURE AUTOMATIQUE POUR TUBES DESTINES EN
EMI1.2
PARTICULIER AUX PRODUITS PtlïR24C'UiIqj,U'ES,
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
La fig. 10 est une variante de la fig. 9.
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>
<Desc/Clms Page number 10>

EMI1.1
PATENT D "nN1" lIl "TIOE AUTOMATIC CLOSURE FOR TUBES DESTINED IN
EMI1.2
SPECIFIC TO PtlïR24C'UiIqj, U'ES,
Instead of the screw closures usually employed for tubes, attempts have already been made frequently to provide the tubes with automatic closures, that is to say with Turkish closures which open by pressure exerted on the contents of the tube. tube and close after the pressure has ceased.
The automatic closures for tubes, proposed heretofore, however, could not receive any practical application, for example for the reason that they required manufacture. tubes deviating from the usual manufacture of the latter, namely, in general, a manufacture which was hardly feasible, or did not function reliably or even caused alteration of the contents of the tube. In particular, all tube closures, in which the locking springs required in each case were liable to come into contact with the contents of the tube, have also been shown to be unusable.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The object of the present invention is the creation of an automatic closure for tubes which avoids all the drawbacks of the automatic closures known hitherto, which does not in any way make the manufacture of the tubes difficult and whose cost price is not at all high, which would make it impossible to manufacture a high volume article of this kind.
A tube closure according to the invention belongs to the type of automatic closures in which a closure piece, held by a spring in the closed position, surrounds by a central opening made at its upper end, a pin fixed central.
An automatic tube closure according to the invention differs from known automatic tube closures of this kind in that both the fixed central tenon of the closure and the movable closure part have a stepped section at the bottom. differentiated piston shape, and that the closure part surrounds in a sealed manner, by its tubular part directed downward from the horizontal annular surface, and having a diameter greater than the diameter of the upper tubular part, the hollow extension, dipped downwards, of the central tenon.
Further, it is essential for an automatic closure according to the invention that the closure spring is disposed between the outer upper surface of the annular part of the closure part and the inner wall of a cap surrounding the closure. and connected to the tube in any rigid manner. The central tenon of the automatic closure may form part of the tube itself, the neck of the tube being suitably shaped for this purpose, or the entire closure may be so established that, in its fully closed state, it can be screwed, tightened or fixed from another
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
manner on the tube connection conformed in the usual manner.
In this case, the fixed central tenon of the closure forms a separate part and has a thickened lower end by which it is rigidly fixed in the outer closure cap, while the cap itself extends downwards. over the central tenon and that this lower end of the cap, provided where appropriate with an internal thread, serves to fix the closure to the neck of the tube.
By an embodiment of the tube closure according to the invention, the result is obtained that the manufacture of the tube itself remains, in each case, the usual manufacture, since the neck of the tube does not have annular parts and, of on the other hand, the closing spring is completely protected against the access of the contents of the tabe, to the interior of the closure, since the lower extension of the closure body engages in the same way. 'a socket or sleeve on the corresponding extension of the central tonon, so that this extension acts as a labyrinth seal.
Finally, a special advantage of an automatic tube closure according to the invention is that the appearance of the. tube remains essentially the same as up to now, ie its appearance is not adversely affected by the automatic closing; moreover, the outer dimensions of the tube remain the same as hitherto for a determined content.
The new closure also has the advantage of easy handling of the tube in the usual way, since a weak spring is sufficient to push the closure body back.
Instead of the spring, another elastic material can also be employed, for example Para rubber or other suitable rubber.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
Where appropriate, the lower edge of the movable closure piece can be lined with a cork washer, so that a triple seal of the contents of the tube with respect to the outside air is thus ensured.
Due to the simple construction, the closure can be made of any metal desired; in particular, the movable closure body can also be made of or coated with a thinner metal, in order to make it impossible to influence the contents of the tube, for example in the case of medicinal or pharmaceutical products which must remain in a state of absolute purity.
For the manufacture of the closure, it is also possible to employ any molding materials, such as resins of all kinds. In particular, a galalith-like material, such as kerrite, has been shown to be suitable. The closure can be made entirely or partially of this material; it is in particular advantageous to manufacture the outer protective cap in a material of this type.
In a particularly advantageous embodiment of an automatic tube closure according to the invention, the narrower upper part of the fixed central tenon of the closure has a conical shape, and the part of the closure piece, which is conical. extending upwards from the annular step has a conical perforation of suitable size, so that in the closed position of the closure body the upper part of the latter rests tightly on the central tenon surrounding it, therefore, in a waterproof manner. In one embodiment of this type of closure, therefore, a large closure surface is obtained which guarantees the tightness of the closed tube closure.
It has also been found that the upper tier, both
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
of the fixed central tenon that of the closure piece surrounding this tenon, can have much smaller dimensions. As a result, the manufacturing costs of the closure are further reduced considerably. In this case, the closure spring can be disposed, no longer on the horizontal annular surface of the closure part, but rather externally to the lower tubular part of the closure part, in such a way that it s 'bears on the one hand against a stop presented at the bottom by this tubular part and, on the other hand, internally, against the upper side of the cap surrounding the closure and firmly assembled with the tube.
The accompanying drawing shows different embodiments of automatic closures for tubes according to the invention, and this on an enlarged scale.
FIG. 1 shows in section, in the closed state, a tube closure constituting an independent device and adapted by threaded connection to a tube of usual execution.
Fig. 2 is a section on II-II of FIG, 1.
Fig. 3 is a section corresponding to FIG. 1 with the tube closure open.
Fig. 4 shows a variant in which part of the closure is in one piece with the tube itself.
Fig. 5 is a variant of an execution according to f ig. 4.
Fig. 6 shows another variant with a central tenon which is partly conical.
Fig. 7 is a section corresponding to FIG. 6, the closure being open.
Fig. 8 finally shows a variant of the tube closure corresponding to FIG. 6, in section, in the open state.
Fig. 9 shows a variant in which the spring cuts into a low position.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
Fig. 10 is a variant of FIG. 9.
In all the figures, the tube itself is designated by 1. In the embodiment of the closure according to the figs. 1 to 3, tube 1 has regular threaded connection 2.
Instead of being used for screwing on the ordinary tube closure cap, this threaded connection 2 is used to adapt the automatic tube closure shown in the figs. 1 to 3. This closure comprises a central body or tenon which has a stepped section or in the form of a differential piston and consists of the solid and narrow upper part 3 and the hollow tubular lower part 4. Daps the annular face of The two crescent-shaped passage openings 5.5 are provided for connection between the two parts 3 and 4 of the central tenon of the closure, which can also be replaced by several holes.
The thick lower end 6 of the central tenon 3, 4 is provided with an external screw thread and is screwed into the closing cap 7 provided with an internal thread at its lower end. The tenon is surrounded by the closure body 8, 9, also in the form of a step, the horizontal annular part 10 of which covers, in the closed position, the passage openings 5 for the contents of the tube. The tubular part 9 surrounds the part 4 of the tenon in a sealed manner, while an annular passage channel remains open between the tubular part 8 of the closure part and the part. '3 of the central tenon.
The upper end of part 3 of the tenon: is slightly chamfered, and against this part of the tenon 3 applies the front part 11, curved inwards, of the closing body 8, 9, part provided a central opening 12. A coil spring 13 disposed between the front wall of the closure cap 7 and the annular face 10 tends to hold the closure body 8, 9 in a permanent manner.
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
nente in the closed position shown in fig. 1.
The entire closure is screwed onto the threaded connection-2 of the tube 1 through the lower end of the cap 7, extending beyond part 6 of the central tenon.
In the closed state of the closure, the product contained in the tube fills the interior space of the hollow part 4 of the. tenon, but it cannot penetrate any further, because part 3 of the central tenon is solid. The contents 14 of the tube, however, have no possibility of accessing around the relatively extension. long 9 of the closure body in the internal capacity of the cap 7 and thus come into contact with the spring 13.
When, in the position of the parts shown in fig.1, pressure is exerted on the contents of the tube 1, the product discharged through the perforations 5 lifts, as shown in fig. 3, the closure body 8, 9 by reacting against the spring 13, and the product leaves the tube through the perforation 12 made in the front wall 11 of the closure body. When the pressure on the contents of the tube ceases, the spring 13 returns the parts of the device to the position shown in fig. 1, the aorta that the tube is closed automatically.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 3, the tenon or central body 3, 4 is not screwed but tightened into the closure cap 7. In this embodiment of the closure, care must in any case be made that the tenon central is rigidly connected to the cap 7.
The embodiment shown in fig. 4 differs from that which has just been described in that the central tenon 3 ', 4' forms a part, that is to say the eyelash of the tube 1 itself. In this embodiment, the lower end 6 'of this tenon 3', 4 'has an external thread onto which the cap 7 of the closure is screwed. In other respects,
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
the execution and operation of the closure are the same as in the example of FIGS. 1 and 2.
The embodiment of the tube closure, shown in fig 5, differs from that shown in fig 4 only in that the cap 7 'is shorter than the cap 7, and the part 6 "of the neck of the tube or of the fixed central tenon does not have this external thread. In this form of execution, the cap 7 'is therefore clamped, welded or fixed in another way on the part 6".
Fig 6 shows an embodiment of the tube closure which does not differ from that shown in figs. 4 and 5 that by the fact that the upper end 3 "of the central tenon 3", 4 "has a conical shape and that, in a corresponding manner, the upper tubular part 8 'of the body this closure 8', 9 ' has a corresponding conical perforation. In this embodiment, the conical surfaces applied one on the other of part 3 "to the tenon and part 8" of the closure body therefore form the closure properly said tube in the position of the parts shown freezes 6.
Fig 7 shows the position of the parts of a closure from Fig 5 during the discharge out of the contents of the tube, and this figure allows to recognize that when the closure body 8 ', 9' is pushed upwards, an annular channel is formed around the central part 3 "of the post for the exit to the contents.
It is obvious that, in this embodiment, the assembly of the closing cap 7 'with the neck of the tube can be carried out in any way, either for example as in fig 4, or as in FIG. 5.
Likewise, it is possible to establish a tube closure forming an independent device and corresponding to this-
<Desc / Clms Page number 9>
him figs. 1 to 3, in a manner according to that shown in figs. 6 and 7, that is to say with a conical conformation of the central part 3 of the tenon.
Figure 8 shows such a conformation of the tube closure. compared to the executions of figs.
6 and 7, the closure shown in fig. 8 also has the particularity that a cylindrical part 15 is connected to the conical part 3tt of the central tenon. Correspondingly, the conical part 8 'of the closure body 8', 9 'is further provided with an extension 16 with a cylindrical perforation.
In the closed state of the tube, the parts 8 ', 3 "and 15, 16 fit tightly to each other, while in the open state shown in Fig 8, the annular part 16 of the tube body. closure is beyond the central part 8 'of the tenon. A conformation of this kind of the tube closure still has the advantage that, when closing, the inner wall of the annular part 16 slips off. along the outer surface of the upper part 15 and thus pushes down the material which may surround the outer surface of the upper part 15 so that, in the closed state, the seal is still tight.
It is understood that the tube closure shown in fig 8: as an independent device can also be established in a manner corresponding to that shown in figs. 4 to 7, that is to say that the central tenon 15, 3 ", 4", 6 ", forms part of the neck of the tube.
In the embodiment shown in fig. 9, the tube 1 carries the ordinary threaded fitting 2 which tapers in steps upwards. The solid upper part 3 of this closing pin is however as low as possible and widens downwards into a hollow tubular part 4. In the annular connecting surface between parts 3 and 4 are formed

the passage openings 5.5 days the contents of the tube. The lower end of the tenon 2 which, as has been mentioned above, is provided with an external thread, is used for screwing on the cap 7. The fixed central tenon 3, 4 is surrounded by the body closure 8, the horizontal annular part 10 of which covers, in. the closed position, the passage openings 5 for the contents of the tube.
The tubular part 8 surrounds the part 4 of the central tenon in a sealed manner.
The upper seal between part 3 of the tenon and the annular surface 10 is ensured in a manner analogous to that of the device of FIG. 1.
On the outer side of the tubular part 3 of the closing piece is arranged a coil spring 13, which is applied at the bottom against a stop 9 presented by the tabular part 8 and at the top against the inner rim of the cap 7. This spring tends to keep the closure constantly in the closed position shown in the drawing.
The embodiment shown in fig. 10 corresponds on the whole to that of fig. 9, with the difference that the cap 7 is not screwed onto the fitting 2, but that the wall of the tube 1 is in one piece with the cap 7.
The fixed central part 2, 3, 4 of the tenon is engaged in a sealed manner from below in the head of the tube. The conformation of the closure part 8, 9,10 and the mounting of the spring 13 are the same as in fig. 9. The friction between the wall 1 of the tube and the lower part 2 of the central tenon is usually sufficient for the hold. Nothing stands in the way of screwing, welding, riveting this part.
The new embodiment not only has the advantage of easier and more economical manufacture, but also guarantees the complete tightness of the space in which the spring is located against the penetration of the spring. contents of the tube.
