Humidificateur d'air.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Air humidifier.
The present invention relates to an apparatus for humidifying the air, by spraying into a stream of air, water or other liquids, in the form of a mist, with the main aim of maintaining the air in the room at the desired humidity. handling rooms, weaving workshops, spinning, etc.
Essentially, the invention comprises a chamber open at both ends, and in which is mounted an electric motor, the through shaft of which carries, at one end, a fan propeller and at the other end a series of discs which plunge. more or less in a liquid maintained at the desired level, depending on the humidification to be produced, in the bottom of said chamber.
These discs are surrounded, over the greater part of their periphery, by louvers on which the drops of liquid, projected by the discs, break and pulverize, to be carried outside the chamber, by the current of air produced by the fan.
The object of the invention is shown schematically in
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
accompanying drawing, in which: fig 1 is a longitudinal section of the apparatus and fig.2 is a cross section along a-b of fig.1.
The apparatus consists of a chamber 1, cylindrical, open at both ends and the bottom of which is made into a bowl 2 by walls 3-3 '. In this chamber is mounted an electric motor whose shaft, extended on either side of the motor, carries at one end the ventilation propeller .5¯, located in the axis of the inlet opening. of the chamber, narrowed for this purpose by the wall 6. At the other end, the shaft carries a series of solid discs 7, which almost reach the bottom of the bowl 2 ,. These discs are housed in an enclosure formed by louvers which embrace almost the entire periphery of the discs.
As shown in the drawing, the discs have approximately the same diameter as the propeller, and the air flow, forced back by the propeller, is forced to bend to pass between the wall of the chamber and the louvers 8.
The liquid is brought through a pipe 9, provided with an adjustment device, not shown (valve or the like). This liquid, received in the bowl 2, is taken up by the discs 7 rotating at high speed and projected with violence on the louvers. The greater part of this liquid is entrained by the air current, while the heavier particles, not entrained, fall back into the bowl 2. For a given engine speed, the quantity of humidity contained in the outgoing air - depends on the liquid level in the bowl 2,; in this direction, therefore, the adjustment member of the duct 9 will be acted upon. The maximum will be reached when the liquid flows through the overflow11 provided in the bowl.
Generally, the liquid used is water; any other liquid (disinfectant, deodorant, etc.) can, however, be mixed therein either by a connection to the pipe 9, or by a small dropper container 10 carried by the wall of the
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
chamber 1, and directly supplying the cuvette? or allow liquid to slowly flow over the louvers 8.
It should be noted that the liquid supplied to the bowl 2 is completely vaporized in the air stream; therefore there is no loss. In addition, the louvers or grids 8 being fixed, and the discs 7 being driven at the same speed as the propeller 5, the proportion of liquid mixed with the air stream remains constant for a constant liquid level in the bowl 2; absolutely constant humidification can therefore be maintained by adjusting the flow rate at 9 or by adjusting the height of the overflow 11 such that this overflow operates constantly.
CLAIMS.
1. Air humidifier, characterized in that the liquid to be sprayed in a current of air is brought in adjustable quantities into a chamber from where it is taken up for spraying, the level of the liquid in this chamber - which depends on the feed rate and is limited by the overflow - determining the proportion of mist in the air stream.
