<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
glissement.
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

PATENT
EMI1.1
The most effective lubrication of a plain bearing is achieved by supplying the oil to the sliding surface through channels of the rotating part, so that the oil is conducted to said part at a point which is , closer to the axis of the shaft than the sliding surface.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
slip. This is very conveniently obtained by introducing the oil through a hole made in the center of the shaft, from where. it can then pass to the outside through appropriate channels.
In most cases, however, this method is not practical because you cannot access the end of the shaft to connect a conduit.
In plain bearings intended to be mounted on a solid shaft and comprising an internal bearing ring and an external bearing ring, the oil introduced must be supplied to a part of the internal ring which is located closer to the axis. shaft than the sliding surface.
One way that could be proposed to achieve this result is to provide the inner ring with a rim that would be immersed in an oil bath so that the oil is transferred to the internal surface of the rim, or. it could then be projected outwards through channels and thus reach the sliding surface. However, it has been observed in practice that the part of the oil which is adjacent to the rim is moved so rapidly that the flow of oil towards the rim is sufficient to bring more than the end of said rim. in contact with oil.
During the rotation of the bearing, the oil cannot reach the internal surface of the flange at the usual speeds of the bearings, so that it cannot reach the sliding surface through the channels.
The object of this invention is to obviate this fundamental drawback. It can be applied to bearings lubricated by an oil bath and of the kind comprising two bearing members or rings, one rotating, the other non-rotating, provided with complementary sliding surfaces,
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
and is essentially characterized by a rim extending parallel to the axis, integral with the rotating ring @, the internal surface of which, facing the shaft, has a radius smaller than the sliding surface,
a lubricating channel going from the aforementioned internal surface to the sliding face and an annular member integral with the non-rotating ring and embracing the end part of the rim so as to prevent this part from transmitting a rotational movement to the bath of 'oil.
By virtue of this arrangement, the oil is found in the oil bath by the internal surface of the rim, and not by its end part, and is then projected towards the exterior. through the channels to the sliding surface.
The invention is shown in the accompanying drawing
Fig. 1 is a section through an axial plane of a radial bearing established according to one of the embodiments of the invention,
Fig. 2 is a side view of the same landing,
Fig. 3 is a section through an axial plane of a thrust bearing established according to another embodiment of the invention.
In Fig. 1, 1 designates the inner ring, mounted on a shaft. This ring rests by a cylindrical sliding surface on the outer ring 3, housed in the bearing casing 2. The inner ring 1 has an I-section whose two outer flanges 4 constitute the sliding surface of the ring. internal. The internal surfaces 5 of the internal ring are inclined, their smallest diameter being located at the edges 6 of the wings. Annular plates 7
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
are provided on the outer ring 3 and receive a volume as they embrace the wings and prevent their edges from transmitting their rotation to the oil bath, In this example, the -, annular plates 7 embrace the edges of the wings and part, : of their internal surface.
The oil from the oil bath 8 enters through the openings 9, from where it passes directly over the inner surface 5 of the wings. As a result of the conical or narrowing cross-sectional shape of the wings, the oil is driven by centrifugal force towards the central plane of the bearing and thus arrives at the channel 10 which communicates the internal surfaces 5 with the sliding surface.
As soon as the oil comes into contact with the internal ring 1, it is entrained in the rotational movement but, outside the plates 7, the oil bath remains stationary. This is essential to prevent foaming in the oil bath and to prevent oil from splashing all over the bearing shell and leaking through the seals.
The oil which has passed over the sliding surfaces is then free to return to the oil bath through relatively narrow openings 11.
In the exemplary embodiment of FIG. 3, a bearing ring 13 and a flange 14 extending downwardly parallel to the axis are mounted on the shaft 12, The inner surface of the flange is tapered or inclined to such an extent that the oil is stressed. upwards along said flange during rotation of the shaft.
The bearing ring 13 rests by a flat sliding surface on the non-rotating ring 15, which is itself housed in the casing 16 of the pallet @. The flange 14 is embraced by a
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
an annular part 17 formed in the casing. The eight) which stands at level 18 on the outside of the bearing is received and gripped by the inner surface 20 of the flange 14, at the edge 19 of the annular piece 17, and is forced to go all the way up. following the surface 20 until it passes over the sliding surface through the channel 21.
The invention can however be implemented in other ways. This is how the annular base can cover one end edge of the rim against which it is applied in advance without considerable play.
