" Robinet "

<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

"Tap"
In the taps known heretofore, the lifting of the valve is caused by the displacement of a screw. As a result of common use, this screw wears out and the valve lacks tightness.
The object of the present invention is to remedy this drawback while at the same time causing the valve to move rapidly.
For this purpose, the valve according to the invention comprises an oame operable from the outside which, when it is moved, presses on a valve so as to move the latter away from its seat on which / is normally pressed by the pressure. of the fluid whose passage it controls.
The aforesaid cam is preferably moved by a pivot.

advantageously feels in the form of a spiral.
According to an advantageous feature of the invention, the cam has a profile such that it can be put out of contact with the valve when the latter rests on its seat.
Other features and details of the invention will become apparent from the description of the drawing appended hereto and which schematically represents, and by way of example only, one embodiment of a valve according to the invention.
EMI2.1
This drawing is a perspective view after longitudinal section of a valve according to the invention comprising a cam 2 wedged on a rod 3 which can be rotated by acting from the outside on a Handle 4s made integral with this rod, for example. by a screw 5.
The valve 6, cpi is normally applied to its seat 7 under 114atiion of the pressure of the liquid the flow of which it controls and under the action of a spring 8s can be moved away from its seat when the cam 2 is rotated in the direction of the arrow X. This cam is preferably arranged As shown in the drawing so that the stem 6a of the valve 6 is not in contact with it when the valve is resting on its seat. This particular arrangement has the advantage of allowing a certain compression or wear of the seat without the etanoheity of the SOupape being removed. The cam 2 can, in principle, have a pror'il queloonque and could for example be produced in the form of a circular disc wedged eccentrically on the rod 3.
But, OOlmle experiment 1 ia, shown, it is to use tu-je ow: # having a profile in the form of a spiral, the, active part of this cam extending over an angle greater than 1800. This avoids automatic closing of the tap when you stop acting on the T7ni r, v,: ¯

closure which / occurs quite easily when using an eccentric coma cam disc.
The rotation of the oame 2 is limited by projections such as 2a which can abut on either side of the rod 6a of the valve 6.
The valve shown also comprises a rubber disc 9 held pressed against the body of the valve under the action of a spring 10 in order to ensure the sealing of the valve around the rod 3. It also has a device such as 11 intended to break the water jet. Finally, it may be provided with a removable nozzle 12 serving to adapt to the tap a flexible pipe such as a canut-ohouc pipe.
The valve according to the invention therefore has the advantage of effecting rapid lifting without giving rise to strong wear of the moving parts and while easily ensuring suitable sealing, whatever the position of the valve.
This valve can / be, in practice, placed in any position by the fact that the valve 6 is guided by the passage of its rod 6a in a part 13 and by the fact that the spring 8 is sufficient to push the. valve 6 in its seat regardless of the orientation of this valve, of course, provided that the cam 2 is not in a position causing the valve to lift.
It is obvious that the invention is not exclusively limited to the embodiment shown and that many modifications could be made in the form, the arrangement and the constitution of the elements involved in its realization without departing from the scope of the present patent.
Thus, it goes without saying that instead of using a cam 2 acting during the pivoting of the rod 3, one could use
