<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>

Device for drawing lotteries and for other games of chance Société Anonyme des Etablissements RYO-CATTEAU
The present invention relates to an apparatus for drawing lotteries and for other games of chance, characterized by the stirring of the objects used for the drawing in a double drum, each of the parts of which turns in the opposite direction of 11.9, these two drums which can move apart to allow an object to exit while the device is in operation.
The accompanying drawings show schematically, by way of nonlimiting examples, an embodiment and control of the various devices as well as some construction variants.

Another known drawing-iode consisted in throwing a ball in such a way that it fell into a cell corresponding to an if; ne or ± a number.
These various devices had their drawbacks

The present invention relates to an apparatus intended to overcome these various drawbacks and to allow an accelerated printing and the formation of a number by drawing several digits with a single command at the same time that it gives absolute security against any influence. operator.
As can be seen in the accompanying drawing, on a shaft I, preferably terminated at one of its ends by a stirrup 2
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
and mounted on bearings or ball bearings 3 and 4, there is wedged a basket forming a drum 5, and this basket can be constituted, as shown in FIG. 5, by a hub 6 and by a crown 7, between which are find an indeterminate number of shelves 8 arranged so as to allow perfect visibility inside this basket. the crown 7 will carry bars 9 coming together on a circular crown 10 so as to constitute a drum.
Certain bars, such as the one shown in II, may be curved so as to constitute obstacles at each encounter with the objects to be stirred.
A second drum formed in a similar manner will be mounted on a hub 12 rotating in the opposite direction to the shaft I, thanks to a set of reversing gears indicated at 13, 14 and 15.
This hub may have a lateral displacement, so as to allow the separation of the two drums, by bringing the 'drum 16 to the position indicated in phantom at 17, and this displacement, along the shaft I, may have take place under the action of a toothed sector 18 acting on circular teeth 19 of the hub 12.
The two drums can be wrapped in a housing 20, also made in the form of a slatted basket, as shown in Figure 5, and which will have an opening 21 allowing the exit of an object when the drum 16 has moved away. in order to discover this opening.
In this opening, a drum 22 will be arranged allowing the object to be taken up in a cavity 23 and its subsequent descent into a gutter indicated at 24.
For this purpose, this rotating drum around an axis 25 can be connected to the device for controlling the opening as indicated in FIG.
For example, a disc 26 will be held in position by inserting the finger 27 of a lever 28 into a notch of this disc and when this lever is released the disc will be
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
called upon to turn under the notion one counterweight 29 by driving, by a connecting rod 30, the toothed sector 18 and consequently carrying it apart from the two tanbours.
Retort the movement of this disc will be linked by a chain 31, or by any other known means, to the rotational movement of the. drum gripping an object, at the time or. the opening by spacing will occur by uncovering the passage 21, the hollow 23 of the drum will be located opposite this passage 21.
The size of the counterweight 29 can be adjusted in such a way that this counterweight is only used for balancing the moving masses and one thus obtains, after release of the lever 28, no longer an opening immediately by spacing the baskets, but a temporary stabilization of the closed position.
It is under the action of shocks caused by moving objects inside the cage formed by the two stirring drums that the opening occurs without the action of the operator on the control lever being able to intervene in any way since the duration: e the opening is independent of its will.
When an object has fallen into this hollow 23, it will suffice to act on the control lever 33 of the disc 26 to bring this disc back into position by bringing the stirring drums closer and bringing the drum for taking the object into position. the position of Figure I; at this moment, the finger 27 of the lever 28 will fall back into the notch of the disc keeping all the parts in the position of the stirring.
When an indeterminate number of devices of this set will be successively arranged, it is possible to act on each of the levers 28 simultaneously to obtain an opening of all the devices at the same time.
To this end, an action carried out on a control lever

by a shaft, with or without cardan joint, to a longitudinal rod 34 carrying a number of parts 35 corresponding to the number of devices, so that these parts 35 drive a finger or a lever 36 which simultaneously raises all the levers 28 of each of the devices, thus achieving simultaneous opening thereof.
In the event that only one device will be used, a variant of the control device can be produced as provided in FIG. 2.
By acting on the lever 28, the disc is allowed, in the same way, to rotate under the action of the counterweight 29 while pulling the sector 18 as has been said.
At this time, the two stirring drums are moved apart while the drum for picking up an object remained in the position of figure I.
: acting on an auxiliary crank 37 linked to the drum by a chain 38 for example, it will be brought to the position of FIG. 2, and it will be hooked in this position by a hook 39 whose position is deter - undermined by that of disk 26 to which it is linked. i
At this moment, the object will fall into the notch 23 and when the disc 26 is brought back in place, by acting on the lever 32, the drum for picking up an object will be allowed to return to the position of FIG. simply under the action of its weight if a booster mass 40 has been provided for this purpose.
In this way, at the position of separation of the stirring drums, the drum for picking up an object can have two positions: that of figure I or that of figure 2, which will make it possible to reintroduce, either through a hole side indicated at 41, in FIG. 5, or by a central hole 42 indicated in FIG. I, the object which has just been removed without thereby stopping the operation of the device which can be driven by a motor auxiliary not shown, linked to shaft I.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
This central hole may be provided with a safety lock preventing the exit of an object during the draw.
This auxiliary motor will preferably act on the shaft I by means of a speed reducer and it may be provided in this speed reducer or at any point of the transmission a ratchet device, allowing drive by the stirring drums and also making it possible, in the event the engine is stopped, to perform this rotation operation by a crank or a hand wheel.
For the reintroduction of the objects, a gutter or a tube 43 in which the objects are placed µ may be provided opposite the hole 42. by hand or brought by any known mechanical device.
The objects used can be the closed cases, preferably lined with damping material such as rubber and, in these cases, a sheet can be placed containing a given number or sign or a token, and it is even possible to write this if ¯; not permanently inside the case.
However, the balls such as those shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, and which are made of rubber, weighted or not with a metallic level 44, and on the surface of which an incision in the form of number 45, incision in which has been arranged rubber colored differently from that which was used to constitute the body of the ball.
An apparatus is obtained in which, for example, ten balls can be arranged and which allows one of the balls to exit from the stirring apparatus without it being necessary to stop the latter.
The operation can be made completely automatic by adopting a device similar to that shown in Figure 5.
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
If the control device is made as shown in Figure I, it is possible to place, on one side of the object pick-up drum 22, a corresponding light source 46 with a photoelectric cell 47 disposed on the other side of this. drum for picking up objects.
With the drum open, that is to say in the position of figure 2, as long as no ball has descended into this drum, the laminator r yon will pass freely by acting on the photocell and maintaining a lock 48 which prevents the fall of a lever 49 suspended from the disc 26 in the field of passage of a crank pin 50 carried by a turntable 51 whose movement is linked to that of the brewing drums.
When a ball or any object has descended. in the cavity 23, the light ray will be intercepted and, thanks to an assembly known for the use of photoelectric cells, the latch 48 will slip out, dropping the lever 49 in the position indicated in phantom lines in 52, that is to say that the hook 53 which ends this lever will be located on the passage of the crank pin 50 which will drive it up to the position 54 also indicated in phantom, by rotating the disc 26, oe which has the effect of closing the opening 21 and causing the pick-up drum of an object to pass into the position of FIG. 1, the object consequently flowing into the gutter 24.
If this operation is linked, as has been said, to that of the closing of the stirring drums, the movement of the lever 49 will simultaneously perform these two operations.
It will suffice to take the object and reintroduce it, without any additional maneuver, through the hole 42, either directly or indirectly by the action of a known mechanism, to be able to continue the pulling, only one action being necessary: celled 'opening on lever 28, the additional action lever 32 can be transported
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
at any distance and can moreover be replaced by an electric button closing a circuit on an electromagnet (not shown) itself acting on the lever 28.
The device cannot therefore be influenced in any way and nothing can correct the accident.
A series of an indeterminate number of similar devices may be arranged so as to simultaneously draw a number of objects which may each correspond to a number or to a serial letter forming a number for the rapid drawing of the lotteries, the communie the all devices preferably being unique.
These devices can also be used separately or in groups in casinos, to replace pétanque or small horse games, allowing greater speed of the game at the same time as giving; greater security for players.
The number of balls or objects allowing the draw is not necessarily limited to ten, and there may be several series of number marls in an apparatus as well as a large number of objects corresponding to each of the numbers. so as to correspond, for example, to the numbers worn by the roulette de Monaco.
It goes without saying that the shapes, details of execution and assembly, the raw materials used for the realization of the various elements of the apparatus, the devices for feeding balls or objects to the outlet of the pick-up drum or used for their reintroduction into the revolving baskets, the control modes, which can be placed at a distance and act mechanically or by means of electrical devices, can vary without departing from the scope of the present invention.
