Description

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

    "Fitting, for piping".

   The present invention relates to a connection device making it possible to effect a strictly sealed connection between two piping and valve elements.

   The object of the invention is to produce a seal making it possible to ensure perfect sealing and sufficient mechanical strength, whatever the nature and size of the connected conduits, as well as the pressure of the fluid passing through these tubes.

   In addition, the seal is produced by a mechanical combination allowing the seal to be quickly and easily disassembled without damaging the adjacent ends. Etanoheity is obtained by a suitable pressure exerted on a ring of material

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 elastic or plastic, while the mechanical resistance results from a real hooping by an internally knurled metal ring, with the aim of causing a judiciously distributed seizure.

   The seal according to the invention can obviously be produced in various forms, while, in general, it will comprise the elements schematized in the figure oi-joihte and described below in detail.

   In these examples, the joint intended for example to firmly join the two pipe ends, comprises a central sleeve 1, into which two adjacent pipe ends engage. This sleeve 1 is threaded at both ends, so as to allow the engagement of nuts 3 of suitable shape. The bottom of these ears is conical, as is the inner edge of sleeve 1.

  The nuts 3 are internally threaded but over only part of their length, so that a smooth part is reserved between the thread and the aforesaid conical bottom.

  In order to obtain respectively the tightness and the sufficient mechanical resistance, a plastic ring 5 is placed in the hole 3, so that it is stressed between the latter and the conical part of the central mabhon 1. Between this plastic ring 5 and the bottom of the nut 3 is also placed a clamping ring made of brass, for example, having an angled face placed against the conical bottom of the nut. This ring is split and therefore has sufficient elasticity during tightening.

   It is understandable that by aiming the nut on the corresponding part of the central sleeve 1, the two rings 4 and 5 will be firmly pressed against the end of the corresponding pipe 2, in such a way that a perfect seal results, in particular by the existence of the plastic ring. The

 generally profiled so as to present roughness which makes it possible to cause seizure on the corresponding part of the pipe 2. This arrangement provides very high mechanical resistance to this end of the pipe and in particular prevents any slipping of the latter in the joint, as a result, for example, of an increase in fluid pressure inside the conduits.

   The left part of the attached figure shows the finished seal, while the right part of this drawing shows the different elements before the seal is effeotuation.

   It will be noted that the plastic ring 5 is cylindrical beforehand and that it deforms under the tightening action of the nut 3. On the other hand, for reasons of mechanical quality, the brass ring 4 is slit obliquely.

   Numerous constructional changes can obviously result from changes in the shape and relative dimensions of the various elements, or even in the position of these in the joint. The invention naturally extends to all applications of such a seal.

   The advantages which result from the application of the object of the invention are numerous and can be summarized by the following considerations:
The junction between two tubes, even in soft material, such as copper for example, can be made without deformation or fatigue of any of the tubes. The joint can always be removed without any difficulty, given the absence of any deformation. tubes. The perfect tightness of the joint is ensured by the presence of the plastic material, which is firmly clamped against the conical faces of the sleeve and the ring respectively. Finally, any longitudinal movement tending to occur under the pressure of the fluid is prevented by the seizing of the split and knurled ring on the pipes.
