"OUTIL POUR MARTEAU PIQUEUR PNEUMATIQUE AVEC DISPOSITIF
AMORTISSEUR'ET AVEC Ou SANS COIN ECLATEUR"
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

"TOOL FOR PNEUMATIC BREAKING HAMMER WITH DEVICE
SHOCK ABSORBER 'AND WITH OR WITHOUT SPLIT CORNER "
The present patent relates to a tool for a pneumatic jackhammer with a damping device and with or without a splitting wedge in which the nozzle 'in which the tool itself slides present in its upper part housed in the lower part of the body of the hammer. a cylindrical shoulder of great length which can slide on the internal periphery of the retaining sleeve and of which the annular radial face of its upper end can come into contact with the end of the cylinder of the hammer, while the radial face lower annular is in contact with a suitable elastic material or body constituting the shock absorber,
arranged in the annular recess formed by the retaining sleeve, and the cylindrical part of the nozzle sliding in the end of the preceding retaining sleeve in the event that a spark gap is used, the outer conical part constituting the spark gap.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
In this way, when the head of the tool strikes on the inner shoulder of the nozzle, whether or not it has a splitting wedge, the elastic material or body considerably dampens the reactions which can be transmitted to the body of the hammer and of there, to the operator of the machine.
The guiding in the retaining sleeve of the upper part of the nozzle by means of a large contact surface makes it possible to maintain good operation of the machine even after long services.
In order to bring out the above description more clearly, the accompanying drawings represent.
Fig. I a sectional elevation in the lower part of a jackhammer with splitting wedge executed in accordance with the object of the invention.
Fig. 2 is a sectional elevation in the lower part of the same hammer when the splitting wedge starts to come into action, by the shocks received from the head of the tool.
Fig. 3 a section similar to fig.I the hammer not being provided with a splitting wedge.
Fig.4 a partial section similar to Fig.2, the hammer striking empty and not being provided with a splitting wedge.
Referring to figures I and 2 above, 1 represents the body of the cylinder of the hammer in which the piston 6 intended to strike on the head 2 of the tool 7, held by the sleeve 3 screwed on the cylinder 1, moves. .
The rod 7 of the tool can slide in the nozzle 8 comprising in the case of fig.I and 2 the lower -oartie 11 of conical shape acting as a spark gap, the cylindrical part sliding internally on the tool 1 and externally in the the end of the retaining sleeve 3, finally a shoulder 9 following which extends the upper cylindrical part 10 sliding outwardly on the inner periphery of the retaining sleeve 3.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
14. the shocks transmitted by the corresponding face 4 of part 5 of the head 2 of the tool 7.
In the annular recess or chamber 13 located between the inner end of the retaining sleeve 3 and the shoulder 9 of the nozzle .8; There is disposed an elastic body or material 12 such for example rubber constituting the device for damping the reactions when the tool 7 strikes, through its part 4, the face 14 of the nozzle which then acts as a splitting wedge.
With regard to the description above, it is easily understood that the pneumatic device being in the position shown in FIG. I, that the piston 6 acts only on the head 2 of the tool, never that, when as this is shown in fig.2, the tool 7 is inserted and the end 11 of the nozzle. 8 meets the ground, the shoulder ± of the head of the tool simultaneously communicates the shocks which it receives from the piston 6, to the nozzle 8 which, through its part 11, penetrates correspondingly with the tool 7 into the ground to finally to determine the bursting of the ground in which the pneumatic tool is working.
In FIGS. 3 and 4, the same hammer has been shown, the tool 7 of which is not provided with a splitting wedge, but only with the damping device provided as explained above. Under these conditions, the conical part 11 of the nozzle 8 of FIGS.
I and 2 is Non-existent.
We can obviously provide other construction details according to the execution forms to be considered depending on the nature of the ground in which the tool must work. Thus we can vary the conicity of part 11 of the nozzle 8 and possibly spare on this last of the longitudinal ridges or protrusions facilitating or widening the bursting zone.
The body or elastic material 12 constituted in the example shown by rubber may be made of another suitable material, such as fragments of small springs.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
coil springs entangled in each other, or a complete coil spring or a series of coil springs arranged longitudinally *
One of the characteristics of the object of the invention as indicated above resides in that the nozzle 8 is provided in its upper part with a large guiding surface 10, which, even after use , always ensures normal and regular operation of the machine.
