<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>

-adjustment, parts of fabric without loops and automatically resume production of looped fabric without any irregularities -
The appended drawings represent very schematically, by way of nonlimiting example, the application of the investie] to an articulated connecting rod loom: FIG. 1 a schematic mode of forming a looped fabric and FIG. 2 represents a mode of realization of. binding device of the. distributor roller with take-off cylinder.
FIG. 3 shows an embodiment and the arrangement of the members allowing the automatic adjustment of the opening which is the subject of the invention.
To facilitate reading of the drawing, each of the axes fixed to the frame of the machine has been indicated by a black point.
It is recalled that in the weaving of terry or similar loop fabrics, a method or a process consists in weaving, for example in the pitch of 3, two picks 1 and 2 of Figure 1 separated by a certain space of the pick 4 previously inserted , then a third pick 3 which will be brought together at the same time as picks 1 and 2 against the already made weave.
In doing so, these three picks, in which the threads of the chain of loops 5 are intertwined and to a certain extent maintained, will slide on the bottom chain which is well taut, dragging with them the looser threads of loops which will form according to their crisscrossing the loops right side up or inside out. tissue
We call "opening" this space that we temporarily leave between the fabric already made and picks I and 2, and we easily understand that o is the main factor which will act on the length of the loops; but its not the only tension of the chain of loops also has an influence im. load-bearing.
For the same opening, the greater this tension, the shorter the curls will be, because there will be a
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
greater shrinkage slip on the picks that hold them. This slippage cannot be suppressed by decreasing the tension of the chain of bouoles because it avoids the buttons on the reverse side of the bouales, but it cannot become too big because it is then done irregularly and the loops become irregular, although their average length can be that desired.
We can therefore see the great importance of a suitable and constant tension of chain of loops to obtain a beautiful loopy fabric. From what is explained of the action of the tension of the chain of loops, we can say that the length of the bungs is relatively inversely proportional to the tension of its chain, and relatively proportional to the size of the opening.
A third factor also intervenes: the tension of the bottom line, because the greater it is, the more it will retain the threads of the loops by increasing the force of the interlacing of this with the picks which carry them *
This tension therefore also has a relatively proportional influence and its variations resulting from the decrease in the diameter of the wound chain or from braking imperfections, would change the length of the loops, even in the case of a chain of loops at constant tension *
In addition, the opening which can, from the mechanical point of view, be obtained constant, is not so from the point of view of efficiency with respect to the formation of sludges, for the following reasons:
It is known that in the fabric which is sufficiently supplied with threads and particularly with weft threads, these weft threads or picks are not packed in their final place at the first stroke of the clapper which inserts them. There occurs a certain return of the fabric towards the rear of the loom which we call n pushback "or" repression ", so that the next flapping strokes still have an action of
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
tamping on the picks already inserted until equilibrium with the advance of the fabric driven by the take-up cylinder; this does not prevent this backtracking from occurring at each stroke of the clapper in the solid fabrics and obviously comes as a deduction from the mechanically obtained opening.
So any variation of the. discharge will cause an effective opening variation and consequently the length of the loops * However, if this discharge depends on. number of picks, it also depends on the size of the latter and on the ease of insertion resulting for example from their surface roughness, which roughness may vary with the various treatments required by bleaching, dyeing, or other operations.
So all of these weft properties will also influence the size of the effective aperture.
In order to have a regular loss in spite of everything, we are obliged to use unwinders giving a determined length of the chain of bouoles. The tension of this chain then results from the difference between the size of the effective opening and the length delivered which is necessarily smaller in order to obtain a tension.
In this case, it will be understood that the inevitable variations of effective opening will cause a corresponding variation in the tension of the chain of loops which will not then have the constancy and the suitable value of which we have previously shown the importance. The problem has therefore been considered, according to the invention, in another way and, since = perfect looped fabric requires both a determined flow of loop warp and an easily adjustable constant tension of this warp, it was thought to act on the causes of these variations in tension, that is to say mainly on the variations of the effective opening which determines a more or less great traction of chain of loops.
The devices which characterize the present invention
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
aim to eliminate all causes of irregularity by creating an automatic adjustment of the loss of loops combined with the tension of the loop warp, the tension of the ground warp, the ease of insertion of the weft by acting automatically on the size of the opening.
In the particular case where it is desired to make a certain length of fabric, without bungs, a special device automatically intervenes on the flow of the chain of loops.
They consist of: a) a device controlling and limiting the flow of the loop chain. b) a regulating device acting on the size of the opening so that it is always in relation to the length of chain of loops delivered, the tension applied to. this chain and even, to a certain extent, the tension of the bottom chain.
The bung chain unwinder comprises a beam 6, slightly braked, on which this chain is wound and a debtor roller 7 covered with felt or any other adherent material so that there is no slippage.
The roller does not drive, it is in% grooved by the tension applied to the chain of loops, without however being able to exceed a determined rotation ratio.
For this, this roller is in special mechanical connection with the fabric take-up cylinder shown at 8, in a proportion which can be adjusted by changing the pinion 9, so that a determined fabric winding corresponds to a determined quantity loop chain issue. The number of teeth of the. sprocket 9 can be determined according to the length of the chain of bungs delivered, relative to the length of the bottom chain, and that is to say to the loss of chain of bungs.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
of the transmission gears is free to rotate in one direction, that is to say that if there was no call from the chain of bungs there would be no rotation of the roller. 7, as shown in figure 2.
The rotation only exists by the tension applied to the chain of bouales by the wallet 10 which is itself supported by a lever II balanced by one or more weights 12 adjustable in position so as to adjust the tension '(the chain of bouoles and to have, after adjustment, a constant tension on this chain *
A particular embodiment consists in carrying out this oscillation around the drive axis of the roller 7.
The opening regulator is controlled by the movement of the roll holder 10 and, consequently, of the lever 11 which is linked to a part 13 forming a sliding drawer and carrying a groove 14 in which moves, with a certain clearance, a catch 15 hinged on a lever 16.
The position of this cleat varies the inclination of the lever and this inclination is transmitted by rods 17 to a lever 18, articulated around a point 19, thus modifying the position of a hook 80 which is intended to hook. the journal 21 by modifying as well, as it already is. known., the action length of a connecting rod 22 by the bending of this connecting rod into two parts 22 and 23.
The hook 20, by means of the rod 38 and the lever 37, receives from the appropriate cam 36 the movement which will cause its hooking on the journal ± the In the step of three for example, this cam 36 wedged on the shaft 35 effecting one turn for three of the loom, the hook will take for two turns and drop off on the third; therefore the clapper will insert two picks with opening and at the third one will push them all three against the fabric already, thus forming puddles.
The variation in size of the opening is therefore obtained
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
by the advance and the rectum of the shaft 31 carrying the hook 20.
In addition, when the hook 20 takes the pin SI, the force required for the bending of the connecting rod returned by the spring 29 exerts a traction sar this hook which, by construction, is stronger than the antagonistic action of the spring 30 recalling lever 18 and shaft 31 towards the rear of the loom. When hooking, the latch 16 therefore moves in the slideway of the drawer, resting on the other wall, and when unhooking, the spring 30 returns the latch to its original position.
We see in between that the attachment of the journal 21 wants to reduce the opening since it pulls the hook forward and that the release wants to increase it since the spring 30 returns it back *
These two contrary tendencies are controlled by the position of the spool which is the position of the wallet 10 without effort or reaction, because the play of the latch in the slot 14 allows at each hooking and unhooking, a movement back and forth from this. stopper, which momentarily releases the drawer.
If, for example, the opening becomes too large, the consumption of the chain of loops will become greater than its flow rate, the wallet and the drawer will descend and the opening will decrease until equilibrium between consumption and the chain flow.
If the tension of the chain of loops was increased, there would also be an enlargement of the opening to compensate for the greater slippage which would occur when forming the loops.
Likewise, if we decreased the tension of the ground chain, and if we changed the picking for the same difference in length between the chain of loops and the ground chain, there would be a different number of loops, therefore changing their length and automatic correction
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
As in the manufacture of terrycloth fabrics, for example, we must make parts of woven fabric, without loops by means for example of Jacquard or weave mechanics, we make take, by the hook 40 the journal 39 of the lever 37 at the time where it is in the drawing position '
At this time, the hook 20 no longer taking, the action of the spring 30 is no longer counterbalanced by that of the return spring 29 of the connecting rods as shown in the drawing,
and the latch 15 no longer periodically releases the drawer 13 which is immobilized between its guides 33.
As there is no further formation of loops as a result of the removal of the opening, the wallet begins to move upwards; but the drawer 13 can not follow it, especially since the adhesion of the cleat 15 in the slide 14 is increased by a fine toothing made in the walls of the groove and on the sides of the cleat, and this results in a traction energetic on the rod 25 which, by the lever 26 articulated at 27 on the lever II, actuates the brake 28.
At this moment, the free pinion of the connection with the take-off cylinder comes into action and allows the braked roller 7 to deliver only the length of chain necessary for weaving the part without loops *
When the looped fabric is picked up, the drawer is again blocked each time the hook 20 is hooked on the journal 21, and the thread holder 10 is thus released.
The brake is released and the roller 7 resumes its normal course for the release of the chain of loops.
The successive weaving of parts of fabric with and without loops does not require a take-up coupling of the pinion 34, since the length of chain of loops consumed less in the fabric without loops is not fed by the roller 7 which is then braked. , and that this under-consumption should not be transferred to the fabric with loops
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
because the loss is calculated in relation to the tissue, with bungs and not in relation to all the parts with and without loops *
The outer part of the freewheel, shown in Figure 2, receives the impulse from.
roller 7, while the inner part receives a determined drive from the roll 8 of tissue take-up. '
We see by the arrangement of the oliquets that the outside of the freewheel small turns less quickly than the inside when the roller. 7 is braked, and at the same speed when this roller is not braked, but never faster.
An absolutely automatic adjustment of the opening and release of the loop chain is thus obtained and, consequently, absolutely regular work without it being necessary to adjust the opening by trial and error in relation to the tension of the various chains. , even in the event of modification of the dueding or. of the raw materials used.
It goes without saying that the shapes, details of embodiment and arrangements may vary without departing from the scope of the present invention which also applies to other systems also known in the weaving industry and which make it possible to obtain the necessary opening. in the manufacture of crowded fabrics, such as frames or mobile burps * The invention also provides for the replacement of the sliding drawer by a corresponding cam, with rectilinear or rotary displacement.
