<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

The invention relates to a centrifugal regulator for ignition devices, provided with centrifugal weights extending in a plane perpendicular to the axis of the regulator, which attack the part of the regulator to which an advance is to be imparted. A prior patent of the applicant describes a regulator, the driven part of which is blocked relative to the driving part up to a determined speed of rotation of the regulator. The object of the present invention is to improve the operation of the regulator and to reduce the noises which have a particular intensity in Centrifugal regulator for engine ignition devices.

devices where the regulator gives an advance to the rotating part of a magnetic igniter (driving regulator).
According to the invention, to achieve this goal, an additional flyweight is rotatably mounted on the main weight of the regulator which engages via a nose, under the tension of a spring, in a stop notch of the regulator part. at which the advance is to be printed.
The accompanying drawings show an exemplary embodiment of the invention.

Fig. 5 shows the elements of the regulator in perspective.
The drawings show a driving regulator for a magnetic igniter, which is interposed between the driving shaft of the magnetic igniter and the rotating part thereof, namely the armature or the magnetic system. 1 is the drive shaft of the magnetic igniter: On this shaft is fixed a plate 2 carrying two pivots 3 on which can turn two centrifugal weights 4. These centrifugal mass-burts act on arms 5 fixedly mounted on the shaft 6 bearing the rotating part of the igniter.
The centrifugal weights consist of a main weight 7 and an additional weight 8.
The main flyweight comprises an arm 9 which cooperates with the arm 5 of the igniter shaft. On the inner flank of @

the main weight is fitted with a leaf spring 10 which bears against the arm 5 and which ensures that the arm 9 always remains in contact with the arm 5. To absorb the shock resulting from the folding of the weight, the free end of the weight is lined with a piece of felt 11. The additional weight is pivotally mounted on the main weight, on a pivot 12 fixed in the main weight. The additional flyweight comprises on the inside a nose 13 which can engage in a stopper 14 of a part mounted fixed on the igniter shaft together with the arms 5.
By 15 is denoted a spring of the additional weight which presses against a stud 16 of the main weight and which tends to move the additional weight inwards. 17 is a stud of the main weight, which passes through a slot 18 of the additional weight and which serves to guide this weight.
On the piece with detent notches are provided guide surfaces 19 on which can bend helical springs 20, one end of which is attached to studs 21 of the arms 5 and the other end of which is hooked to a tab 23 folded in. the housing 22 of the regulator. Pivot 12 and stud 16 can be moved by means of eccentric adjusters 27 and 28 (Fig. 3) to adjust the position of the additional weight and the tension of the spring 15.
The housing 22 rotating with the plate 2 of the regulator is cylindrical. On it rubs a carbon 24 which is housed in the fixed housing 25 acting as a bearing for the drive shaft and which is pressed by a spring 26 against the rotating casing.

To understand the operation of the regulator, it should be noted that at low rotational speeds the resistive torque is variable, since the magnetic system alternately accelerates and decelerates the rotation of the rotating part of the igniter, so that at at low speeds the rotating part of the igniter occasionally moves ahead of the regulator drive member, ie its resistive torque even becomes negative. In a non-blocking governor, the centrifugal weights already extend slightly at a very low rotational speed when the resistive torque from the igniter is negative, and are released into the rest position when the resistive torque reaches its maximum. .
The weights thus rejected strike and cause a strongly perceptible noise. In the regulator according to the invention, the driving member, that is to say the centrifugal weights, is blocked relative to the driven member, that is to say relative to the shaft. 6 of the igniter with the part with detent notches, until the moment when the additional weight is deployed against the action of the spring 15 sufficiently far so that the nose 13 is released from the stop 14. the additional flyweight comes in this position, the main flyweight then released can begin to deploy.
It is aided there by the force accumulated in the spring 15 during the initial movement of the additional flyweight, so that at the beginning it deploys jerkily and the adjustment or advance curve rises very quickly at the start of the operation. adjustment movement. At the speed at which the regulator is released, the moment of inertia of the rotating parts of the igniter is already so great that the variations in the resistive torque of the igniter can no longer appreciably act on the regulator and the latter cannot make no noise. Springs 10 n
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
ensure that the arms of the centrifugal weights remain in constant contact with the arms 5 and therefore cannot strike against each other. The brake adapted to the casing 22 reduces the noise due to the play of the control gears, inherent in the manufacture of the latter.
