<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

Device for drawing off beers and other similar liquids.
The present invention relates to the drawing off of beers and other liquids.
As is known, the fillers in use today comprise a cylinder provided with take-off valves, in which there is a float.
This float is sometimes replaced by a safety valve, especially in large funnels.
The presence of this cylinder offers multiple drawbacks which consist in particular in that the beer and the air come into contact over a relatively large surface.
When the pressure required at the entrance of the beer is reduced, a vortex occurs which causes carbonic acid to be carried away and the beer to decarbonize.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Furthermore, as the return of the air contained in the keg returns to the filler cylinder, either directly or indirectly, via a foam tank, the smell thereof as well as the bacteria. and its oxygen that it can contain, enter the cylinder of the filler.
In addition, since the filler is connected directly to the keg, the smell of the latter infects the beer and, moreover, impurities can enter the withdrawing cylinder. Finally, the beer has a tendency to heat up in this cylinder, and in this way lose part of its carbonic acid.
In addition, the flow speed of the beer in the keg, and hence the efficiency of the machine, is quite low, because this flow is only made by the pressure resulting from the difference in level existing between the tank and the keg or the bottle, which corresponds to 50 cm. at 1 m.
The object of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks and to allow withdrawal without the use of a withdrawal cylinder.
With a view to achieving this aim, the drawing-off device, object of the invention, is characterized essentially by the use of a valve which is connected, on the one hand, with the supply pipe of the pressure agent to the barrel, bottle or other container, and on the other hand, with the fry, bottle, etc., and which is regulated so that, at the start of filling, it prevails in the pipe connecting the valve to the barrel, to the ball, etc. .. a pressure (Pa) lower than the pressure? pressure agent.
The accompanying drawings show schematically how the invention can be carried out in practice.
In these drawings (fig. 1, 2 and 3), T designates the barrel which must be filled, to which three pipes 1, 2, 3. The pipes 1, 2 are provided with valves 4,5.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The pipe 1 is used to bring the pressure agent into the barrel while the pipe 2 is traversed by the beer brought to the barrel T.
A pipe 1 is connected to a pipe 6 which ends in a valve 7 constituted by a cylinder in which can move a piston 8 which is subjected to the action of a spring 9, the tension of which can be adjusted to the using a screw 10.
The two faces of the piston 8 can be put into communication by a duct 11 to which is connected a pipe 12 which ends in a foam tank 13, to which is connected another pipe part 3 yes comprises on its route a valve to ball 14.
The valve 7 is further provided with an exhaust pipe 15 which is located at a level lower than the orifice of the pipe 11.
If we first consider the phase of pressurization in which the valves 4 and 5 are in the positions shown in Figure 1, that is to say in those where the pressure agent enters the barrel T, it can be seen that this pressure agent also acts on the lower part of the piston 8 thanks to the pipe 6.
The piston then rises under the action of the pressure agent and discovers the lower orifice 16 of the pipe 11.
Therefore, the pressure agent acts through the pipe 11 in the space B above the piston 8 and on the other hand, through the pipe 12 in the foam collector 13 and the pipe 3.
If we denote by P the initial pressure of the pressure agent, this pressure comes to reign in space B and is added to that R of the spring 9 so that the piston goes down under the action of the pressure P + R.
This descent of the piston has the effect, first of all, of definitively closing the orifice 16 of the pipe 11; then the piston uncovers the orifice of the exhaust pipe 15.
As a result of this opening, part of the pressure
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
dreaming in B escapes through pipe 15; this exhaust lasts as long as the pressure under the piston (at A) remains lower than that prevailing at B plus the tension of the spring 9; when this pressure is higher, the piston remodels and covers the orifice of the pipe 15. It will be understood that the pressure which prevails at this moment above the piston is less than P by a certain quantity which can be designated by a so that the pressure in the pipes 12 and 3 as well as in the reservoir 13 is established at P - a.
For filling, put the taps 4 and 5 in the: - positions shown in figure 2, i.e. that the arrival of pressure through pipe 1 is stopped and that the flow of beer from pipe 2 into the barrel roll is possible.
At the start of filling (fig. 2), the pressure in the pipes 3 and 12 is therefore Pa lower than the pressure P in the pipe 2, so as to allow the flow of the beer, the tank of beer to be drawn off being at pressure P.
On the other hand, under the influence of the pressure P prevailing in the barrel, the ball 14 rose before the closing of the valve 4 and the opening of the valve 5.
From this moment, the beer entering the keg T drives out the pressure through the path :: - pipe 3, valve 14 (in which the ball floats, as shown in figure 2), tank 13, pipes 12 and 15.
When the keg is almost full, the small portion of foam that still covers the beer follows the same path, but stops at 13; when the keg is full (figure 3) the beer passes through the pipe 3 and arrives at the ball of the valve 14 which by floating on the beer clogs the upper opening and prevents the beer from passing into the tank 13. As it no longer pressurizes, piston 8 re-
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
mounts and closes the orifice of the pipe 15. The valve 5 is then closed and the barrel is removed. The ball then descends and returns to the position shown in figure 1, thus blocking the orifice of the first part 31 of the pipe 3. This ball therefore maintains in the tank 13 the back pressure which would otherwise escape. through pipe 3. The operations then start again.
Figure 4 shows a variant in which the valve 7 is placed directly on the reservoir 13. The tube 8 is only used at the start of operations to put the first pressure by opening a valve 17. The valve 7 which becomes a simple safety valve is set to allow any pressure greater than P - a to pass.
The operation is the same in the case where instead of filling barrels, bottles have to be filled.
Figures 5, 6 and 7 show the various stages of filling; in this case, these figures correspond to the point of view of the position of the elements, respectively to figures 1, 2 and 3.
