<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

IMPROVEMENTS TO TELEPHONE SYSTEMS.
The invention relates to telephone systems for annexed private offices, or satellite offices, of the automatic type, comprising local connection circuits in which there are line finder switches and digital switches, separate line finder switches, also being provided, which are each individual at a trunk line to the main central office. In such systems, it is customary to establish a communication, in response to a call from the attached private office, or the satellite office, and destined for the central office, by means of a local connection circuit which receives the calls. numeric pulses designating a subscriber in said central office.
However, it may happen that all the local connection circuits are busy while one or more trunk lines going to
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
the central office are free.
In order to allow a substation to send a call to the central office in such circumstances, a so-called auxiliary connection circuit has already been provided which was adapted to connect to the circuit of the calling subscriber when all the circuits of connection premises were busy. This auxiliary circuit transmitted to the calling subscriber an auditory signal of busyness, and if this subscriber desired it, he could mark on his disc a single digit reserved for outgoing calls. In response to this digit the control circuit - auxiliary nexion extended the connection to the central office.
The object of the present invention is to provide improved means for establishing emergency connections to the outside when all the local connection circuits of the private office, or of the satellite office, are occupied. To this end, we introduce into the common starting circuit associated with the circuits of the lines of the subscribers of the office, a busy relay for / all the connection circuits, the operation of this relay causing the transmission of a signal. to the calling subscriber and also connecting, from this signal, to the calling line, a device which, in response to another signal from the station which initiated the call, sets in motion a free searcher for trunk, so as to connect the calling line to an outgoing trunk line.
In offices of the kind to which the invention is applicable, it is customary to transfer an outgoing call which has been established through a local connecting circuit to the line finder of the junction which has been chosen, the call circuit. local connection then being released so that it can be used for other connections. In such arrangements the transfer is controlled by a test circuit through the fourth brushes of the switches used. When the invention is applied to such arrangements, it has been proposed to transfer the test circuit from the fourth wire to the brush normally used to maintain the local line in a busy condition, so that the line of the fourth wire. The calling subscriber can be directly tried.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The invention is better understood from the following description of one of its embodiments shown in the drawing oi-joi nt.
Therein, there is shown schematically a sufficient part of a line circuit, a local connection circuit, a circuit for a junction line finder, and the common starting circuit, so that the invention is fully understood.
When a call is made, and a connection circuit is free, the LP relay of the common starting circuit CSC energizes, causing the operation of the S relays in all free local connection circuits. The LF line seekers of these circuits then search for the calling line. The LP relay is actuated in series with the combined cut-off and line relay L of the calling subscriber, this relay L functioning in part to close its normally open contacts, without now opening its normally closed contacts.
When a researcher has found the calling line, a ground is connected directly to the third Ifo brush, and the line relay L is fully actuated, so that it opens its normally closed contacts. The LP relay, as well as the other free connection circuits are released. The pulses, due to the digits marked on its disk by the calling subscriber, are received by the local connection circuit and if the call is an outgoing call, an outgoing trunk line is chosen by the CON selector.
The JLF finder of the chosen junction line then operates in the well-known way, and a test circuit is closed from the JT relay through the working contact of the start relay ST, the closed contact of the SO relay, the fourth brushes jIfd and cond, to the test potential in the local connection circuit. When the calling line has been found by the JLF finder, the local connection circuit is released, and the connection is extended through JLF.
If all local connection circuits are occupied, a TP relay, in the common starting circuit CSC, is operated via an air-

-Chain firing, which disconnects the LP relay and connects the a-conductor of the calling subscriber to the BTL conductor for auditory busy signal, which is also connected in parallel to the SO relay in the starter circuit for lines of JSC junction. When a call occurs under these conditions, the busy signal is transmitted from the BTL conductor to the circuit of the calling subscriber. If the latter wishes to communicate with the outside, it lowers an oil which directly links the earth to the conductor a saline, as is shown in the drawing.
This earthing causes the SO relay to function in the starting circuit for trunk lines. By its operation, the SO relay inverts the connection of the test relay JT of the connection line oheroheur, and connects this relay to the third jIfo brush or blocking brush instead of being connected to the fourth jIfd brush. At the same time, the ST start relay of the trunk line finder is energized, and this finder searches for the calling line. The L relay of this line has been partially actuated, and when JLF finds the line, the JT relay energizes via the jIfo brush in series with the windings of the L relay.
The switching relay SC of the junction circuit is now actuated in the well-known manner and by means not shown, which directly connects the earth to the jIfo brush in order to fully actuate the relay L. The connection is now extended to the jIfo brush. central office, and the communication ends in the well-known ordinary manner.
