Fig.l est la vue d'ensemble de l'appareil sans son câble;
Fig.2 est une coupe AB de Fig. 5 montrant les rapports de la vis sans fin et du pignon, le tube servant à guider le câble, et la cage de l'appareil;
Fig. 3 est une vue suivant CD de cette cage ;
Fig. 4 est une coupe EF de l'extrémité libre du tube;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

PATENT OF INVENTION embryotomies
EMI1.1
# -. ## -.-.
International Convention ': patent application filed in France on June 3, 1935.
We currently know chain embryotomes, using. which veterinarians carry out their operations, in large animals. This chain system requires a determined position; that which consists in necessarily placing the chain in the extension of the apparatus to operate a section.
The object of the invention is a crusher for combined embryotomies to use, instead of a chain, a large diameter cable with high resistance, 5 to 6 millimeters, specially wired, tensioned by a clamping means. Powerful composed of a pinion and a worm, allowing easy sectioning of the largest fetuses.
The clamping means by a two-branch crank has a

extremely important because, even in the great efforts, the apparatus always remains well balanced and cannot injure the parturient.
The apparatus of the invention constitutes a real advance over chain apparatus because the cable can work in all; shots, both in the plane of the camera and perpendicularly, or obliquely or even, using a special technique, from front to back. This is extremely important in the removal of limbs, the main operation at the cutter of an embryotomy and until then particularly difficult. This operation becomes extremely simple with the cable apparatus, in the opinion even of the veterinarians who use it.
Fig.l is the overall view of the device without its cable;
Fig.2 is a section AB of Fig. 5 showing the ratios of the worm and the pinion, the tube used to guide the cable, and the cage of the apparatus;
Fig. 3 is a view along CD of this cage;
Fig. 4 is an EF section of the free end of the tube;
Fig. 5 is an elevation of the whole apparatus.
According to the exemplary embodiment shown, the crusher comprises a twisted cable T (Fig. 5) whose breaking strength is approximately 1500 kg. This cable passes through a guide 12, then in a steel tume 11, one end of the cable is fixed on the eyebolt 13 of the drum 4, the other end is fixed on the eyebolt 6 of the cage 8 (the fixation is reelized by a simple half-knot). The drum 4 is integral with the pinion 5, these two parts rotate around a removable axle 10, the simple loosening of the screw 7 allows the axle 10 to be removed, facilitating the dismantling of the cable wound around the drum 4 after an operation. The pinion 5 is driven by a worm 3; 9 of the worm 3 ends in a square which fits into a ** removable two-arm crank 1.
A removable pin 2 passes through two holes reserved in the ears 2 'of the cage and makes it possible to support the device and to resist the twisting force which @ Sexerce when turning the crank 1.
The operation of the device is as follows: the operator
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
places the cable around the part to be cut and then slides the two ends of the cable T into the tube 11, the device is pushed along the cable, until it comes to rest by its end 12 on the fetus. The operator fixes one end of the cable on the drum 4 by means of the eyebolt 13 using a half-knot and fixes the other end on the eyebolt 6 of the cage 8, also by a half-knot. The device being held by an aid which maintains the pin 2, it suffices to turn the crank 1.
Thanks to the resistance of the cable, to the shape of the cantilever 12 or guide and to the strong traction operated by the worm 3, the operator, by the progressive shortening of the cable, obtains the desired section without the slightest danger for the bat that must be delivered and with the minimum of effort.
Another utility of the device is to correct certain positions of the fetus or to remedy certain twists of the matrix In this case the device is fixed by its cable on a member of the fostus and we exercise from the outside, at the using the support pin 2, a twisting movement that allows the fetus to turn on itself.
