<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

Device intended to prevent the theft of bicycles and other similar devices.
The present invention relates to a device for preventing the theft of bicycles and other similar devices.
There are already devices intended to fulfill the same purpose. However, the cyclist must carry certain parts of a certain weight, such as a chain, for example.
The object of the present invention is to remedy this drawback and to obtain a robust device which does not constitute any inconvenience or hindrance for the cyclist.
In order to achieve this aim, the device is characterized essentially by a blade or other equivalent locking member which is carried by the bicycle, which can be inserted between the spokes of one of the wheels of the bicycle so as to prevent the rotation of the wheel and
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
which can be brought into a position where it does not prevent the movement of the bicycle.
The accompanying drawings show an exemplary embodiment of the invention in the case where the device is applied to the rear fork of a bicycle.
Fig. 1 is an elevational view showing the blade in the locked position.
Figs. 2 and 3 are detail views.
Fig. 4 aims to show the cooperation of the device with the spokes of the wheel.
Fig. 5 shows a bicycle provided with the device, object of the invention.
In the attached drawings, 1, 2 and 3 denote three calipers which are fixed, the calipers 1 and 3 on one of the branches (branch 4) of the rear fork of the bicycle, and the caliper 2 on the other branch (branch 5) of this fork.
Each of the brackets I, 2 and 3 comprises legs 6 which are connected by small bolts 7, for example made of steel, the head 8 of which is rounded. At the end opposite the head 8, the bolts 7 are fitted with double nuts 9 so that they can only be removed by means of a small wrench.
The actual protection device comprises a blade 10, for example made of steel, which can oscillate around a rod or pivot II provided with a head 12 and fixed to the bracket 1.
When the bicycle is at rest and theft is to be prevented, the blade IO is in the position shown in figure 1, that is to say that it passes through spokes 13 of the rear area (figure 4) and that it is fixed by a small padlock 14 to a tab 15 of the bracket 2. This padlock passes through holes formed in the tab 15 and in the blade 10.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
When the bicycle is running, the blade 10 occupies a position parallel to the branch 4 (position 101 fig. 4) after having oscillated around the rod II and is maintanue thanks to a button 16 with which the bracket 3 and s 'engaging in the hole provided at. The end of the blade 10 and also serving to receive the ring of the padlock.
On the other hand, the caliper I carries a spring I? which acts on the blade 10 in the running position, so as to keep it engaged in the button 16 and to prevent this blade from being able, by moving, to enter the spokes and cause the bicycle to stop or cause a accident.
The device is completed by a washer 18, for example made of copper with which the blade 10 is fitted and which aims to keep the blade 10 at a certain distance from the caliper I and to prevent it from being scratched and damaged. when rotating the blade 10.
The padlock 14 will preferably be very robust and will preferably also have a small ring 141 so that it takes only the blades 10 and 15 and that no pliers or tools can be introduced for the purpose of removing it. This padlock may, when the bicycle is rolling, remain on the blade 15.
The button 16 may optionally be provided with a small lateral hole receiving a machine screw for fixing a red light.
It is also possible to provide in the button 16 a notch 161 intended to receive the blade 10.
It goes without saying that the device described can be applied anywhere in the frame. In the example described, it is shown applied to the rear fork F (fig. 5) but it could just as well be applied to the branches (F1) of the crankset or to the fork F2w of the front zone.
The main advantages of the device lie in its robustness and in the fact that the cyclist does not have to
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
wear any organ like for example a cat does. He just needs to have the little key to the padlock with him.
R e v e n d i c let's go.
