Selon l'invention, le bras indicateur de l'appareil est constitué d'une pièce de matière élastique, qui est étendu quand le mécanisme n'est pas tendu : après avoir été tendue à laposition opérante, cette partie de l'appareil en est re- tirée et en même temps que le mécanisme donne la. tension;

<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
La fig. 3 montre un bras indicateur qui est ponstitué par la réunion de deux de ces bandes: toutes deux sont, à une ex- trémité, tenues à l'écart par la pièce garde-distance 3, tandis qu'à l'extrémité du bas, elles se rejoignent directement( le cas échéant avec: isolation électrique);

Running direction indicator Running direction indicator; '-1
The present invention relates to an indicator of the direction of travel for velocypeds, motorcycles and automobiles of all kinds, which indicator differs from devices already known, by a simple, inexpensive and reliable construction, at the same time that it is easy to loosen and offers a serious guarantee against the risks of fracture and blockage,
According to the invention, the indicator arm of the device consists of a piece of elastic material, which is extended when the mechanism is not stretched: after having been stretched to the operative position, this part of the device is extended. withdrawn and at the same time as the mechanism gives the. voltage;
the state in which the mechanism causes the tension is blocked by a stop arrangement and, when this arrangement is released, it must resume its extended position, corresponding to

Some embodiments of the invention are given by way of nonlimiting examples by the appended schematic drawings, it is understandable that this is not limited to the possibilities of shaping the direction indicator executed as a single model.

<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Figs. 1 and 2 show an embodiment of the indicator arm which is particularly advantageous: in particular, a steel strip such as we have seen used, for example, for meters wound on a reel, application where they are are very well behaved elsewhere.
Fig. 3 shows an indicator arm which is formed by the union of two of these bands: both are, at one end, kept apart by the distance guard part 3, while at the bottom end, they meet directly (where applicable with: electrical insulation);
a second guard-distance piece 4 has the function of giving the bands, on the path 3-4 (where the bending forces act), a spacing such as the moment of resistance to. the bending is increased * In this arrangement, it is also possible, if necessary, to take one of the bands 1-2 or both, in a non-convex material, and have a flat part although the arched shape has the advantage of preventing cracking, particularly that of the bottom band which undergoes pushes or pressures. The extension can be done at the left end or at the right end.
From the point of view of resistance a bandage at the right end is advantageous, since then it is at the location of the maximum bending moment that the greatest moment of resistance is obtained. When the indicator arm is attached to the left end, there is a possibility, for the arm to retrocede elastically, for example, for the purpose of producing a movement with emission of a sign as well as the possibility of folding them together or rewinding them. two bands of the indicator arm to remove it so that there is little space.
Fig. 4 shows yet another embodiment of the indicator arm or of one of its bearing bands, consisting of resilient material 0 such as rubber or the like, optionally with an outer metal lining, in the case. the purpose of reducing friction and of the wire traps 6 and 7 in order to increase the strength and, if necessary, for a current supply.

<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
There is placed a pulley 24 with a lever arm 25 which is connected by a shaft 26 to an actuating lever 27 placed externally to the housing. Between the two steel bars 14 and 15, the casing is equipped with an insulating insert 28. The top steel strip 14, when the indicator is out, joins, thanks to the contact 29, to a contact. oU, which is fixed to the housing and is connected to a current source, the other pole of which is attached to the drum, ar 13.
Said current source, which has not been shown here, may simply be the one serving the lighting. of the vehicle, or else be a special battery, then suitably mounted in the casing 8: for example, it could be introduced into a box 31 attached to the casing, the shape being that of a bar battery 32 .
If necessary, a small magneto-electric dynamo could also be installed in the interior of the drum 13, which would also be rotated by the rotation of this drum; thanks to the moment of inertia acquired by this action of the steering wheel, its rotation will continue while the warning arm would already have its external position, so that, without having to use a battery strictly speaking, we would have, at least for a sufficient short lapse of time, the illumination of the lamp serving this arm.
The operating mode of the device is as follows:
To produce the winding again, on the drum 13, of the warning arm when it is out, the lever 27 is lowered: at the same time the lever 25 also goes down and, by the action of the pulley 24, the cable 22 is pushed to its position drawn in dotted lines. Due to the easy elongation imposed on the cable 22, the latter, which was wound by one or more turns on the cable pulley 21, unwinds, and in doing so it prints the drum rotation in the direction of watch hands. The warning arm is then wound up again, which thus disappears in the housing 8.
However, the order of the device was conceived with the addition of a stop arrangement (not shown) which at the winding position operates the blocking of the drum; consequently, as soon as we let go of the

In the embodiment which is shown in Figs. 6 to 9 there is a housing 33 which is fixed to the handlebars or to the steering rod 36 by means of a tubular keep 34 tightened by screws 35. L ' Ordinance of the device has been adequately designed so that the housing 33 and the axis constituted by the screws 35 can be rotated 360 degrees.

<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
crankcase by means of the button it '? and it stops automatically in the pushed position, thanks to the spring-loaded pawl 49 which can be tilted around 48 and which engages with a notch 500 The external path of the rack is limited by the fact that a projection 51 of the rack 40 comes into contact with the journal 48 of the stop pawl 49.
At their outer end, the bands 42 and 43 (as shown in particular in FIG. 9) are bent at right angles and joined to one another under the interposition of an insulating part 52 which at the same time serves for fixing. of the lamp base 53 which is electrically connected to these two bands 42 and 43 and supports a lamp 54. Above this lamp b4 is passed a transparent cover, for example with red and yellow light, which is held by means two lugs 56 behind the ends of the bands 42 and 43 and reigns externally on these bands.
, The operating mode of this device is as follows
If the button 47 is pushed, the drum 37 will complete one or more turns; the bands 42 and 43 will wrap around it and the signaling arm will be brought to the position shown in figo7, in which the contact 45 no longer makes contact with the strip 43, consequently the lamp goes out when the rolled up position of the band, the pawl 49 enters the notch 50; the drum is therefore. maintained the state of tension. If the lever is pushed to emit a signal, the pawl will be released and the warning arm will be thrown out by virtue of its own tension force, while the rack will also assume its outward position.
At the same time the band 43 will come back to apply against the contact; t 45 and the lamp b4 will light up,
In the execution according to figs 10 and 11, the pinion 39 is actuated by a toothed segment 57 which can be tilted around a touril.lon 58, with the help of the thrust surface b9 which, preferably will be executed by spring and come out of the housing through a corresponding opening 60 thereof. When the tension is in the direction of the arrow (fig.ll) the lever b9 will enter the notch 61 by pressing lightly
