 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

 EMI5.1
 terre, batterie, relais Hl, contùats-14mtl, roll, 9010, bali/7

 <Desc/Clms Page number 6>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 7>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 8>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 9>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 10>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 11>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 12>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 13>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 14>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 15>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 16>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 17>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 18>

 trois impulsions.

 <Desc/Clms Page number 19>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 20>

 relais J3 (fig.

 <Desc/Clms Page number 21>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 22>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 23>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 24>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 25>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 26>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 27>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 28>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 29>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 30>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 31>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 32>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 33>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 34>

  Improvements to telephone systems
The invention relates to telephone systems and more particularly relates to systems in which subscribers belonging to different groups have access to the same arteries through which communications are established.

   . Subscriber groups may differ, for example, in that the combinations of calling subscribers differ, (i.e. with or without counting of calls) or in that the arrangements for supplying subscribers from the battery may differ. (local battery or central battery supply) or by the operating mode (fully or semi-automatic) which may be different or by groups which may belong to different offices.

   If for example the difference lies in that a group

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 contains subscribers with counting of calls, while the other contains subscribers not having these possibilities, it can happen that when the traffic will be intense for the subscribers with the possibility of counting calls, the arteries which become free from time to time. other are immediately seized by other subscribers having the possibility of counting calls.

   As a result of the latter, subscribers without the possibility of counting calls always find the routes busy as long as there is a counted call in attendance, unless they get access to the desired route just during the short time. period of time between its release after the previous communication and the new seizure by a counted call. The same difficulty will arise for the operator whose function is to route subscriber communications when she wishes to get in touch with communications in another direction, for example.

   In order to avoid difficulties of this kind, the arrangement according to the invention is such that the routes are placed exclusively at the disposal of a calling subscriber of a group only after a switching maneuver has been executed by the network. operator serving subscribers or after the expiration of a determined period of time counted from the moment of release of a previous call so that if desired an outgoing call from a subscriber of the other group can be routed before an outgoing call from a subscriber in the first group.

   The invention will be better understood from the following description with reference to the accompanying drawings comprising FIGS. 1 to 12 and which represent two realizations.

   In detail, fig. 1 to 10 show the circuit arrangements of semi-automatic auxiliary offices whose communications are established by means of communication devices.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 mutation shown in fig. 9-10 placed in the operator position of the main HA office. Full automatic service subscribers also have access to the semi-automatic network.

  The general arrangement of the system as a whole is shown in fig. 11. It will be described first.

   It can be seen from this figure that the auxiliary offices U1 to U4 are connected in series and have access to a main office HA in which the establishment of communications between the individual subscribers connected to these auxiliary offices or to other offices. The layout is a semi-automatic system. A complete system-. automatically is also linked to the main HA office. the subscribers of which automatically establish their internal communications and also their communications with auxiliary offices by means of the operation of switches without making use of the office operator.

   The circuit arrangements of the individual sub-offices are such that in office Ul 'a circuit is provided comprising a call finder and a final selector.

  This office is connected via a trunk line to office U2 in which there is also a call finder and final selector circuit. Between office U2 and the next office U3 there is another junction line but in office U3 there are two pager and final selector circuits which are connected to office U4 by two lines of corresponding junction. Both the U4 desk and the U3 desk have two finder and selector circuits. Two lines, only one of which is shown with a repeater, go from this office to the main HA office.

   The number of junction lines and of circuits with seeker can naturally be chosen differently depending on the traffic to be handled. If desired secondary switches

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

 can be provided between office circuits and junction lines.

   The establishment of any communication requested by a subscriber of the semi-automatic system is carried out as has already been said through the operator of the main office HA, the trunk lines entered by the calling subscriber provided that 'they are in the correct direction of the traffic being used by the operator to establish the requested communication when the call concerns a subscriber of the same auxiliary office or of the group of offices.

  Lines that are not needed after the call is established are released to be available for further call setup.

   If the subscriber h1 for example of the office U1 makes a call, this is routed by the individual trunk lines connecting the auxiliary offices to the operator of the main office. If the operator wishes to route the call immediately, she executes a switching maneuver after having plugged into the AK jack which causes the stop of the call seeker of the individual offices on this junction line through which the call signal goes from office to office as well as to the operator. by this arrangement it is possible not to have a connection circuit through the aforementioned offices to the operator who is no longer available as soon as a subscriber makes a call.

   In this way, the operator, if she wishes to establish herself a communication in the semi-automatic system, is not prevented from doing so by any call that could be received. Likewise, the subscribers of the fully automatic system can form the number by means of their disk of a subscriber of the semi-automatic system while the calls from subscribers of the semi-automatic system are present as long as the operator has not left. not occupied.

   These two possibilities

 <Desc / Clms Page number 5>

 Features are of special advantage in semi-automatic systems in which the counting of subscriber calls takes place since after releasing a previous call other counted calls will not immediately enter the connection circuit to the office. main so that the operator or subscribers of the fully automatic system can directly dial the number of subscribers of the semi-automatic system.

   The details of these operations will be appreciated from the following description.

     . Established sow, daytime communication in the semi-automatic system.

   The establishment of a communication between subscribers Tn1 and Tn2 of the sub office U1 will be described first.

  Without picking up his receiver, the subscriber Tnl actuates his magneto and thereby actuates relay A by the winding, I of the subscriber's loop. By closing the contacts the relay A is blocked by its winding II and following, the circuit; earth, battery, contacts la and 2c, winding II of relay A, resistor Wi2, relay An and earth. If '' the junction line between offices U1 and U2 is free, the following circuit is established after the relay An has drawn due to the blocking of relay A: earth, battery, relay Mt1 contacts 12h1, 10pl, 1c10, brush 1w5 in its rest position, contact 7an and earth.

   By this circuit the relay Mtl attracts' and therefore applies a negative potential through the contact 42mtl to the al contact of the junction line leading to the office U2. consequently the following circuit is established: earth, battery, contacts 40c10, 42mtl, conductor al, contacts 101d2 and 10202, fig. 3 and 4, winding 1 of relay A2 and earth. The following circuit is then established in the office Ul (fig. 1 and 2):
 EMI5.1
 earth, battery, Hl relay, contùats-14mtl, roll, 9010, bali / 7

 <Desc / Clms Page number 6>

 lw5 of the LW1 final selector in its rest position, contact 7an and earth. Relay H1 is blocked by contacts 8hl and 13h1.

   The Mtl relay is de-energized by the opening of the 12h1 contact and consequently the circuit of the A2 relay via the al conductor is opened at the 42mtl contact. Relay A2 (fig. 3 and 4) however remains attracted by the following blocking circuit: earth, battery, winding II of relay A2, contacts 104a2, 105c2, 106d2 and earth.

   If the junction circuit with U2 office finder is free, the following circuit is established when relay A2 attracts: earth, battery, relay Mt2, contacts 107h2, 115p2, 113c20, brush 1w5 of final selector LW2 in its rest position, contact 112a2 and earth. The relay Mt2 attracts by this circuit and closes the following circuit by the contact 143mt2: earth, battery, contacts 141c20, 143mt2, conductor a2 from the junction line to the office U3 (fig. 5 and 6) contacts 201d3, 202c3, coils - ment 1 of relay A3, battery and earth. Relay A3 attracts through this circuit.

   During this time the following circuit is established at the U2 office (fig. 3 and 4) by closing the 109mt2 contacts: earth, battery, H2 relay, 109mt2, 115p2, 113c20 contacts, 1w5 brush of the LW2 final selector in its rest position , contact l12a2 and earth. The H2 relay attracts by this circuit and is blocked by the contacts 108h2 and 114h2. Relay Mt2 is de-energized by contact 107h2 so that the circuit of relay A3 is broken by contact 143mt2. Relay A3, however, remains attracted by the following blocking circuit: (fig. 5 and 6), earth, battery, winding II of relay A3, contacts 204a3, 20503, 206d3 and earth.

   If one of the U3 office finder junction circuits is free and includes, for example, call finder AS3 and final selector LW3, the following circuit is established:

 <Desc / Clms Page number 7>

 earth, battery, relay H3, contact 217p3, brush ew7 of switch EW3 in its rest position, contacts 213c30, 210a3 and earth. Relay H3 attracts through this circuit and establishes the following circuit through contact S43h3: earth, battery, contacts 243h3, 245h4, conductor a3 from the junction line to the U4 office (Fig, 7 and s), contacts 3old4, 30204, winding 1 of relay A4, battery and earth. Link A4 attracts by this circuit.

   During this time, relay H4 has been attracted to office U3 by contact 220h3 and maintains relay H3 attracted by contact 211h4. The circuit of relay A4 (Fig. 7 and 8) is broken by opening contact 254h4 but this relay remains attracted by the following blocking circuit: earth, battery, winding II of relay A4, contacts 304a4, 305c4 , 306d4 and earth.

   If one of the circuits of the office U4 comprising for example the call searcher AS4 and the final selector LW4 'is free, the following circuit is established: earth, battery, relay H5, contact 316p4, brush ew7, of switch EW4 in its rest position, contacts 313040, 310a4 and earth.

  Relay H5 attracts through this circuit and establishes the following circuit through contact 339h5: earth, battery, contacts 339h5, 342h6, conductor a4 to main office HA (Fig. 9 and la), contacts 40505 and 407050, winding I of the relay A5 and the earth. Relay A5 attracts by this circuit: During this time, relay H6 has drawn into office U4 (Fig. 7 and 8) by contact 319h5 and then maintains relay H5 attracted by contact 314h6. The excitation circuit of relay A5 is broken by opening contact 342h6, but this relay is kept attracted by the following blocking circuit: earth, battery, winding II of relay A5, contacts 414a5 and 416r7 and earth.

   In addition, closing contact 415a5 turns on the call lamp AL in the operator position.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 8>

   From the above description it will be deduced that the call coming from a subscriber Tn1 is put on hold in the individual offices U1 to U4 and is indicated by the illumination of a lamp at the main office HA without the searchers of call AS1 to AS4 of the individual offices spient switched on, Thus the junction lines between the auxiliary offices are not occupied so that they can be used for example for the establishment of an incoming call by the operator or by subscribers of the fully automatic system passing through the main HA office. This case will be described in detail later.

   If the Ul office junction circuit had been in service when the Tnl subscriber made his call, the Mtl relay would not have attracted since then the brush 1w5 of the final selector LWl would have left its normal position and the contacts 9c10 and lOpl would be open. The call would only be recorded by the relay A remaining attracted by its winding II in series with the relay An so that the relay Mt1 would have attracted by the contact 7an when the junction circuit becomes free and then causes the relay to attract. A2 in the next office U2 and so the call will be routed in the manner already described.

   If the junction circuit of the U2 office (Figs. 3 and 4) had been occupied, the relay Mt2 would not have attracted after the attraction of the relay A2 since the brush 1w5 of the final selector LW2 would not have been in. its normal position and that contacts 113c20 and 115p2 would be open. The call from the Ul office will however be recorded by the continuous excitation of the A2 relay. It will be routed to the next office U3 as soon as the trunk circuit becomes free. If in this last office the junction circuit comprising the call finder AS3 and the final selector LW3 is occupied, the chain of the starting circuit is switched to the next junction circuit by closing the contact 212c30. The impulse of the start of a call

 <Desc / Clms Page number 9>

 takes place on this junction circuit via contact h4.

   If this trunk is also busy, the call is not routed any further. The call, however, remains recorded by the continuous excitation of relay A3 so that it becomes effective as soon as a junction circuit becomes free and the call is then routed to the next office U4.

   Corresponding operations take place at office U4 where the call is likewise transferred to the second trunk circuit in the case where the first shown comprising the call search AS4 and the final selector LW4 is busy, and is registered (the relay A4 remaining attracted), If the second trunk circuit is busy so that the call can be routed to the main HA office when a trunk circuit becomes free. The call is therefore not lost.

   If then the operator wishes to take care of this call, she inserts her ASt answer card in the AK jack The C50 relay is consequently attracted by: earth, battery, relay 050, spring from the jack, plug, resistor Wi14 'and earth, Contact 425c50 is activated and the following circuit is closed: earth, battery, resistance Wi13, contact 425c50, coil of relay H7 and earth, Relay H7 attracts and contact 416h7 opens the blocking circuit of the winding II of relay A5 and also turns off call light AL. The opening of contact 429h7 prevents the repeater Ue from being seized by a group selector GW 'forming part of the fully automatic system.

   During this time the following circuit has been established by the attraction of relay 050: earth, battery, shock coil Dr9, contacts 40415 and 402c50, conductor a4 from the junction line to the office U4 (fig. 7 and 8) contact 341h6, relay J4 and earth.

   Relay J4 attracts through this circuit and by closing contact 349i4 and opening contact 35314, relay 040 attracts through the following circuit: earth, battery, relay C40,

 <Desc / Clms Page number 10>

 contact 34914 and land. Relay C40 is blocked by contact 351c40.

   In order to stop the U4 office call seeker, the attendant then opens the answer key (Abl and Ab2) and the call key R and the following circuit is then closed: earth, battery, call key R , response key Abl, plug and jack, contact 412c5, relay B5, contact 413s5 and earth.

  Relay B5 attracts through this circuit and through contact 409b5 closes the following circuit: earth, battery, shock coil Dr10, contact 409b5, conductor b4 from the junction line to the office U4 (fig. 7 and 8), contact 344y4 , winding of relay E4 and earth. Relay E4 attracts through this circuit and through contact 317e4 it establishes the following circuit: earth, battery, DAS4 rotation electromagnet of AS4 call seeker, 320r4 contact, 318das4 contact of DAS4 rotation electromagnet, contacts 317e4, 316p4, brush ew7 of the EV switch in its rest position, contacts 314h6, 510a4 and earth.

   The rotation solenoid DAS4 of the call finder AS4 attracts through this circuit and opens the contact 318das4 of the excitation circuit of the solenoid DAS4 from where it follows that the relay R4 is attracted. Relay R4 opens the DAS4 rotation electromagnet excitation circuit through contact 320r4 so that the electro de-energizes and closes its 318das4 contact again. Relay R4 is therefore short-circuited and drops. The rotation solenoid DAS4 and the relay R therefore react to each other until the call seeker AS4 reaches the pin marked by the call and given by contact 324a4 . The following circuit is then established: earth, battery, relay c4, contact 324a4, brush as3 of call finder AS4, windings I and II of relay P4, contact 327h5 and earth.

   By this circuit the relays P4 and C4 attract and by the contact 316p4 the circuit

 <Desc / Clms Page number 11>

 of the call finder is open to prevent it from moving forward and the conversation conductors are extended by contacts 328p4 and 329p4 while the junction line is kept by the short-circuit of winding II of relay P4 by contact 326p4.

   Relay H5 de-energizes when its circuit is opened by contacts 316p4 and in turn opens the circuit of relay H6 by contact 519h5. When relay 04 attracts by the test circuit, the blocking circuit of winding II of relay A4 is opened by opening contact 305c4 and winding I of relay A4 is also de-energized by contact 302c4. Finally, opening contact 309c4 removes the short-circuit of winding 1 of relay D4. During this time after the call seeker AS4 has stopped and the relay P4 has drawn,., The following circuit is established: earth, battery, relay Q4, broom as4 of the call seeker AS4, broom ew3 of the switchEW4 in its rest position, contact, 321p4 and earth.

   Through this circuit, relay Q4 attracts so that the following circuit is established: earth, battery, DLW4 rotation electromagnet of final selector LW4, contact sector of bank cw6 of final selector LW4, contacts 357q4, 356h40, 355p40 and Earth. The final selector takes a step forward. The brush cw6 of the final selector LW4 therefore passes on the contact sector of the bench. Relay H40 is attracted by contact 363 / w4 as a result of the attraction of the DLW4 rotation solenoid and by contact 356h40 opens the rotation solenoid drive circuit.

  Relay H40 continues to react on the DLW4 rotation electromagnet until the cw5 brush reaches pin 1 which is marked by contact 325q4 and the a.s5 brush of the AS4 call finder. As soon as this occurs, relay H40 is kept attracted by: earth, battery, winding of relay H40, brush cw5 of final selector LW4, contact 1, brush as5,.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 12>

 of call seeker AS4, contact 325q4 and earth. Any new step of the LW4 final selector is prevented by the opening of contact 356h40.

   During this time the following circuit closed by. the attraction of relay P4: earth, battery, Dr7 shock coil, contacts 337c40, 336k4, 381u4, 328p4, AS4 broom of caller AS4, conductor a3 from the junction line to the U3 office (fig. 5 and 6) 244h4 contact, J3 relay and earth.

   After the talk leads have been extended, the following circuit is also established (fig. 7 and 8): earth, battery, resistance Wi15, contacts 577e4, 334k4, 382u4, 329p4, brush as2 of the call seeker AS4, driver b3 from the junction line to the U3 office (fig. 5 and 6), contact 247y3, relay E3 and earth.

   Relay J3 closes a circuit for relay C30 via contact 25413 under the action of opening contact 25715. Relay C30 attracts and blocks via contact 255c50.

   The following circuit is closed by the attraction of relay E3 and by conductor b3: earth, battery, the rotation electromagnet DAS3 of the call searcher AS3, contacts 216r3, 219das3 of the rotation electromagnet DAS3 , contacts 218e3 and 217p5, brush ew7 of switch EW3 in its rest position, contacts 211h4 and 210a3 and earth. The DAS3 rotating electromagnet attracts through this circuit and the call seeker takes a step forward. The opening of contact 219das3 attracts relay R3 which, via contact 216r3, opens the excitation circuit of the rotation electromagnet DAS3. The interaction between relay R3 and the rotating electromagnet continues until the trunk line entered by the subscriber is found.

   When the call finder reaches the junction line marked, the following circuit is established: earth, battery, relay C3, contact 223a3, broom as3 of the call seeker AS3,

 <Desc / Clms Page number 13>

 winding 1 and II of relay P3, contact 230h3 and earth.

  Relays 03 and P3 attract by this circuit and the opening of contact 217p3 prevents any further operation of the DAS3 rotation electromagnet. In addition, relay H3 is released by the same contact from which it follows that relay H4 also releases by opening contact 220h3. The conversation leads are extended by contacts 226p3 and 227p3.

   The blocking circuit of winding II of relay A3 is opened by contact 205c3 due to the attraction of relay 03 and by contact 207c3 the short-circuit of winding 1 of relay D3 is removed.

   During this time the following operations took place due to the attraction of relay P3: by contact 232p3 winding II of relay P5 is short-circuited in order to keep the circuits, by contact 221p3 relay Q3 is attracted by: earth, battery, winding of relay Q3, brush as4 of call seeker AS3, brush ew3 of switch EW3 in its rest position, contact 221p3 and earth so that closing contact 249q3 establishes the following circuit: earth, battery, DLW3 rotation electromagnet of final selector LW3, contacts 249q3, 251h50, 250p30 and earth. The final selector LW3 moves forward one step. When contact 271dlw3 of final selector LW3 closes, relay H30 is drawn and breaks the excitation circuit of the rotation electromagnet at contact 251h30.

   The DLW3 rotation electromagnet and the H30 relay react to each other to advance the final selector step by step until the 1w5 brush of the LW3 final selector reaches pin 1 marked by the contact 225q3 via the brush as5 of the call finder AS3. The relay H30 is then kept attracted by this circuit so that any additional step of the final selector LW3 is prevented.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 14>

 by opening the 251h50 contact.

   During this time the following circuit is established by the conductor a2 and the closing of the contact 226p3: earth, battery, shock coil Dr5, contacts 237u3, 236c30, 235k3, 228u3, 226p3, asl brush of the call seeker AS3, conductor a2 from the junction line to the office U2 (fig. 3 and 4) contact 142mt2, relay J2 and earth. In addition, after closing contact 227p3, the following circuit is established by conductor b2: earth, battery, resistance Wi16, contacts 279e3, 238k3, 229u3 and 227p3, brush as2 of call searcher AS3, conductor b2 of the junction line to the U2 office (fig. 3 and 4) contact 154y2, relay E2 and earth.

   Relay J2 attracts by conductor a2 from where it follows that relays 02 and 020 are attracted by contact 16012.

   The attraction of relay E2 by conductor b2 causes contact 127e2 to close so that the following circuit is established: earth, battery, relay H20, contacts 129h2, 127e2 and earth. The H20 relay attracts and is blocked by the 128h20 contact. The following circuit is established by closing the 110h20 contact: earth, battery, the DAS2 rotation electromagnet of the call finder, contact 116r2, llldas2 contact of the DAS2 rotation electromagnet, contacts 110h20, 115p2, 114h2, broom 1w5 of the final researcher LW2., Contact 112a2 and earth.

  The rotation electromagnet DAS2 attracts through this circuit so that the call seeker AS2 takes a step forward. The contact llldas2 therefore opens and the relay R2 attracts through the above circuit and by opening the contact 116r2 opens the circuit of the rotation electromagnet DAS2. The interaction between relay R2 and the rotation electromagnet DAS2 causes the step-by-step advance of the call seeker AS2 until it reaches the line entered by the calling subscriber.

  The following circuit is then established: earth, battery, relay C2,

 <Desc / Clms Page number 15>

 contact 120a2, brush AS3 of the AS2 call finder, winding I and II of relay P2, contacts 124h2, 125h20, 126p2, contact 121e2 or 122c20 or brush 1w6 of the final selector LW2 in the rest and earth position. The 02 and P2 relays attract by this circuit and by the opening of the 115p2 contact the further advancement of the call seeker AS2 is prevented. The conversation conductors are extended by contacts 150p2 and 131p2 while the high resistance winding II of relay P2 is short-circuited by the closing of contact 125p2. The H2 relay is de-energized by opening contact 115p2 in order to de-energize the H20 relay by contact 129h2.

   By pulling relay 02, winding II of relay A2 is disconnected by opening contact 105c2 and winding I of relay À2 is disconnected by opening contact 102c2.

   During this time by the closing of the 130p2 contact, the following circuit is established: earth, battery, relay X2, contacts 137c20,, 181b2, 186u2 and 130p2, brush asl of the call seeker AS2, conductor al of the junction line to the Ul office (fig. 1 and 2) 41mtl contact, Jl relay winding and earth.

   In addition, by closing the 131p2 contact, the following circuit is established: earth, battery, resistance Wi4, contacts
152h20 or 150e2 and 151h20, 145w2, 135k2, 134b2, 187u2, 131p2, broom as2 of the call searcher AS2, conductor bl from the junction line to the Ul office (fig. 1 and 2), contact 52yl, relay El and Earth.

   Consequently by the closing of the circuit by the conductor al the relay Jl (fig. 1 and 2) of the office Ul and the relay X2 (fig, 3 and 4) of the office U2 attract 'In the office Ul therefore the contact 56i1 is closed and consequently the relays C1 and 010 attract. The relay El is attracted by the

 <Desc / Clms Page number 16>

 circuit established by the conductor bl from which it follows that the relay H10 is attracted by the contact 18el. The following circuit is then established by closing the 11:10 contact: earth, battery, the DSA1 rotation electromagnet of the ASl call finder, contacts 16rl and 15das1 of the DAS1 rotation electromagnet, 11:10 contacts, 10p1, and 8hl, lw5 brush of the LWl final selector in the rest position, contact 7an and earth.

   The rotating electromagnet attracts through this circuit and moves the switch forward one step. The relay R1 attracts and by its interaction with the rotating electromagnet the call seeker AS1 advances until it reaches the line of the calling subscriber. The following circuit is then established: earth, battery, relay C, contact 5a, brush as3 of the call finder ASl, windings I and II of relay Pl, contacts 25hl, 24hl0 and 23plO., Contacts 20el or 21c10 or the brush lw6 of final selector LW1 in its rest and earth position. Relays C and Pl attract via this circuit and by opening contact 2c the blocking circuit of winding II of relay A and the excitation circuit of relay An are interrupted.

   When the relay Pl attracts any additional step of the final selector AS1 is prevented by the opening of contact 10p1. In addition, relay El de-energizes and by opening contact 19hl de-energizes relay H10. The conversation conductors are extended by contacts 26pl and 27pl and the high resistance winding II of relay P1 is short-circuited by the closing of contact 22pl.

   If the call key R is operated again by the operator of the main office HA, the potential of the battery is applied to the driver b from office to office so that the corresponding relays E are attracted again. The relay El draws into the office Ul and can establish the following circuit if the calling subscriber has not remained at his station: earth, battery,

 <Desc / Clms Page number 17>

 resistance Wi1, relay% il, contact 74el and earth. Relay W1 attracts and through contact 14wl applies ringing current to the calling line.

   As soon as the caller answers and after the call key has been released and all the relays E of the auxiliary offices are released, among them the relay El of the office Ul establishes the following circuit: earth, battery,
 EMI17.1
 XI relay, 30elO contacts. 29bl and 27pl, asti broom, subscribed
Tnl, brush as2, contacts 26pl, 34bl, 35k1, 43w1, relay Yl and earth, By contact 53y1 and the shock coil Drl the potential of the battery is applied to the conductor b1 and causes the Y2 relay of the auxiliary unit U2 to attract. then applies the battery to the conductor b2 via the contact 153y2 and the shock coil Dr4. This draws the relay Y3 in the office U3 which applies the battery to the conductor b3 through the contact 246y3 and the shock coil Dr6.

   Relay Y4 therefore draws into office U4 and extends the battery through conductor b4 to the main office HA through contact 345y4 and shock coil Dr8. Since the main office relay B5 released after the call key has been reset, the winding I of the S5 relay is energized by the contact 408b5. When contact 419s5 is closed, the SL signaling lamp lights up indicating to the attendant that the subscriber has answered. The operator can then make her request for information.

   If the Tnl subscriber wishes to call the Tn2 subscriber from his own auxiliary office Ul, the operator will then use his disk to form the characteristic digits of the junction lines leading to the auxiliary offices, The nsi contact consequently follows the Impulses given by the disk of the operator while the nos contact remains open for the duration of each pulse train.

   Suppose the first pulse train includes

 <Desc / Clms Page number 18>

 three pulses. Relay J5 is therefore drawn three times by the nsi contact (fig. 9 and 10). During this time the relay V5, which is delayed on release, is kept attracted by the intermittent closing of contact 42015. Due to the attraction of relay J5, contact 40415 is opened three times so that the attraction circuit of the relay J4 (fig. 7 and 8) which passes through the conductor a4 of the junction line of the office U4 is interrupted three times, In the office U4 (fig. 7 and 8) the relay V4 is drawn when the relay J4 is released for the first time by the contacts 35014 and 348c40 and being delayed-release remains attracted throughout the duration of the pulse train.

   In addition, the following circuit is closed and opened in synchronism with the impulses transmitted by the operator: earth, battery, the DEW4 rotation electromagnet of the EW4 switch, contacts 562c40, 55814, 355p40 and earth. The DEW4 rotation solenoid is actuated three times and therefore advances the EW4 switch three steps.

   Consequently, its ewl brush stops on the pad already reached by the lw4 brush of the LW4 final selector so that since the Q4 relay which is kept attracted by the 322v4 contact during the launching of the pulses, releases with a delay after the pulses and therefore keeps its armature attracted for some time afterwards, the following circuit being established:

   battery, coil I and II of relay D4, brush lw3 of final selector LW4, coils 1 and II of relay P40, contact 368v4 (relay V4 is de-energized after transmission of the impulses) contact 336q4 and in parallel with this the earth , battery, winding III of relay P40, resistance Will - brush lw4 of final selector LW4, brush ewl of switch EW4, contact 370c40 and earth. By this circuit the relays D4 and P40 attract so that the following circuit is also established before the release

 <Desc / Clms Page number 19>

 slow relay Q4: earth, battery, relay U4, contacts 373q4, 371p40 and 370c40 and earth.

   Relay U4 is then maintained by contact 372u4 while relay P40 is blocked by its winding III and contact 565p40.

   Note that relay K4 being attracted by contact 352dew4 when the rotation electromagnet DE% 4 of switch EW4 attracted and was blocked by contacts 547k4 and 546y4 of relay Y4 (de-energized by opening contact 334k4) and the brush ew5 of the switch EW4 which has moved from its rest position.

   Office U3 relay J3 is kept pulled by closed contact 335k4 and after relay P40 has pulled and the talk leads have been extended by contacts 574p40 and 375p40 the blocking circuit for this relay goes through: earth , battery, relay X4, contacts 331i4 and 574p40, lwl brush of the final selector LW4, conductor a3 to the auxiliary unit U3 (fig. 5 and 6) contacts 245h4, '242h5, relay J3 and earth.

   Relay Y4 which was previously attracted-when the caller answered and released after opening contact 334k4 is drawn to the following circuit after final selector LW4 has stopped: (the conductors of conversation in the call finder AS4 being open to contacts 381u4 and 382u4): earth, battery, shock coil Dr6 (fig. 5 and 6) contacts 246y3, conductor b3 from the junction line to the U4 office (fig. 7 and 8) lw2 brush of the LW4 final selector, contact 575p40 and 576e4, relay Y4 and earth. At contact 346y4, the blocking circuit of relay K4 is interrupted.

   Thanks to the second train of pulses which can thus comprise three pulses the relay J5 of the main office HA and the relay J4 of the auxiliary office U4 are again attracted in a similar way so that by the intermittent interruption of the contact 331i4 (fig. 7 and 8) the circuit of

 <Desc / Clms Page number 20>

 relay J3 (fig. 5 and 6) passing through conductor a3 from the junction line to office U3 is therefore interrupted in a corresponding manner. In the office U3, the relay V3 attracts by the contact 253i3 when the relay J3 is released for the first time and remains attracted thanks to its delay on release throughout the duration of the pulse train.

  In addition, the following circuit is established: earth, battery, DEW3 rotation electromagnet of switch EW3, contacts 262c30, 26113 and 250p30 and earth. Switch EW3 moves forward three steps. Relays P30 and U3 are subject to the influence of relay Q3 in the same way as it happened in the case of office U4. In addition, relay K3 was attracted by contact 256dew5 when the first impulse took place and was blocked by contact 260k3 and contact 259y3 of relay Y3 which de-energizes by opening contact 238k3.

  After relays P30 and U3 have drawn the following circuit from relay J2 in office U2 (fig. 3 and 4) is established: earth, battery, relay X5, contacts 239i3 and 277p30, lwl brush of final selector LW3, conductor a2 of the auxiliary office U2 (fig. 3 and 4) contact 142mt2, relay J2 and earth. The Y3 relay of the U3 office which was de-energized by the K3 relay at the first impulse because of the opening of the 238k3 contact attracts again through the 278p30 contact. After the conversation conductors have been extended, relay K3 releases due to the opening of contact 259y3.

   The following pulse train which can also consist of three pulses acts in an analogous way on the relay J2 of the office U2 (fig. 3 and 4) through the pulse contact 239i3 and in addition to the attraction of release delay relay V2 and V20 via contact 15912 causes the DLW2 rotation electromagnet of the LW2 final selector to be intermittently attracted by: earth, battery, the DLW2 rotation electromagnet of the LW2 final selector, contacts 175c2,

 <Desc / Clms Page number 21>

   17612 and 183p20 and earth. The final selector LW2 advances one step.

   Relay K2 is attracted by the attraction of relay V20 by the following circuit: earth, battery, relay K2, contacts 165v20 and 163c2 and earth, so that when relays V2 and V20 release at the end of the pulse train during when contact 15912 opens, the following test circuit is closed: earth, battery, winding 1 of relay D2, contacts 118sp2 and 117d2, brush 1w3 of final selector LW2, winding 1 of relay P20, contacts 185e2, 167k2, 166v20 and 163c2 and earth. The relays D2 and P20 attract by this circuit.

   The D2 relay is used to keep the junction line while the P20 relay which is blocked by its winding III after the K2 relay has released at the end of the pulse train extends ¯ the conversation conductors through the 178p20 and 179p20 contacts. In establishing these connections it will be noted that when the relay K2 attracts during the emission of pulses by the disk, the relay B2 is connected to the conductor bl of the junction line by the contact 133k2 and is attracted by the contact 53yl1 and the shock coil Drl of the office Ul so that the blocking circuit by winding III of relay P20 goes first through: earth, battery, winding III of relay P20, contacts 180p20, 168b2 and 163c2 and Earth.

  The blocking circuit of relay B2 goes through contact 134b2 after relay K2 has released at the end of the pulse train - However, since after the attraction of relay P20, relay U2 attracts by: earth, battery, winding of relay U2, contacts 190p20 and 189p2, brush as4 of call finder AS2, brush lw4 of final selector LW2, contact 188c2 and earth, relay B2 is then de-energized by opening contact 187u2
Relay P20 is then maintained by its winding III and contact 191u. After the conversation leads have been extended the blocking circuit of relay Jl

 <Desc / Clms Page number 22>

 of the Ul office is as follows:

   earth, battery, relay X2, contacts 139i2 and 178p20, brush lwl of final selector LW2, driver al leading to the auxiliary office U1 (fig, 1 and 2) contacts 4lmtl, relay Jl and earth. Relay Y2 which is de-energized by opening contact 155k2 when relay K2 attracts, is then attracted at the end of the pulse train and after the conversation conductors have been extended by: (fig. 1 and 2) earth , battery, shock coil Drl, contact 53y1, conductor bl, brush lw2 (fig. 3 and 4) of the final selector LW2, contacts 179p20, 145w2, 151h20 and 149e2, relay Y2 and earth.

   The next pulse train transmitted by the office attendant can also consist of three pulses and serve to bring the final selector LW1 of the office U1 to the line of the called subscriber. The pulse train is transmitted by the individual auxiliary offices in the same way as the previous pulse trains and in the office Ul causes the relay Jl to attract in the same way as described for the other offices so that when the relay Jl releases a first time, an excitation circuit for relays Vl and V10 is established by contact 57il. These relays being delayed on release remain attracted throughout the duration of the pulse train. The DLW1 rotation solenoid of the final selector LW1 is attracted by the contact 71il.

   In addition, on the first pulse, the relay Kl is attracted by: battery, relay Kl, contacts 77vlO and 58cl and earth. The relay B1 is connected to the lower conversation conductor by the closing of the contact 32k1 and is attracted by the loop of the calling subscriber Tnl, contacts 29bl and 30c10, relay Xl and battery. Since then the Yl relay is disconnected from the subscriber's loop by opening the 55kl contact, it releases and disconnecting the potential

 <Desc / Clms Page number 23>

 of the battery given through the shock coil Drl on contact
53y1 it de-energizes relay Y2 of office U2. Likewise, the relays, Y of all the other auxiliary offices de-energize so that the signal lamp SL in the main office goes out.

   By opening contact 29bl, the relay
X1 who was kept attracted by the loop of the calling subscriber releases.

   If the called subscriber Tn2 is free, the following circuit is established after relay V10 is de-energized at the end of the pulse train and before relay Kl is de-energized: ,, // earth, battery, Co relay, brush 1w3 of final selector LW1, winding I of relay P10, contacts 79el, 78kl, 76vlO and
58cl and earth. Relay P10 attracts and blocks via its winding III and the following circuit: earth, battery, winding III of relay P10, contacts 62p10, 63b1 and 58cl and earth.

   By operating the call key R, the attendant causes the successive attraction of the relays E in the individual office, this operation being completed by the attraction of the relay El in the auxiliary office Ul so that the relay Wl attracts by the contact 74el and that the inrush current is transmitted to the requested subscriber Tn2 by the closed contact 44wl. Inrush current transfer can / however be combined so that it takes place automatically. In this case the attraction of the relay El is not necessary but in its place, a "5 seconds" switch is set in motion.

   When the called subscriber Tn2 answers the relays
Xl and Yl attract by the loop during a pause interval during the call so that then by applying the potential of the battery to the conductor b through the various contacts of the relays Y the signal lamp SL lights up at the HA main office in the same manner as that described above and relating to the response of the calling subscriber. The subscribers can then converse together.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 24>

   Since the junction circuits of the auxiliary offices U2, U3 and U4 are not necessary for the conversation between the subscribers Tnl and Tn2, they are then released by the operator as soon as she withdraws her card. The main office relay 050 releases first and through contact 425c50 opens the circuit of relay H7 which de-energizes and applies the corresponding potential to "free" through contact 429h7 to allow the repeaterUe to be seized if desired by the group selectors of the automatic part of the system. When opening contact 402c50 the beet potential is disconnected from conductor a4 of the junction line to office U4 so that relay J4 of office U4 (fig. 7 and 8) de-energizes.

   By closing contact 353i4, relay C40 is short-circuited so that it releases and because of releasing of relays J4 and C40 the circuits of auxiliary office U4 then return to their normal conditions as will be described below. after this, the final selector LW4 returning first to its normal position and then the switch EW4 so that after the brush ew7 returns to its normal position the junction circuit can be re-entered.

   Since, due to the opening of contact 331i4, the battery potential is removed from conductor a3, relay J3 of office U3 releases, resulting in de-energization of relay C30 through the closing of the contact. 25715. Consequently, all the circuits of the U3 office thus returned to their normal conditions. Similar switching operations take place in office U2 due to the de-energization of relay J2 (fig. 3 and 4). Relay V2 is first attracted by contact 15912 so as to short relay 02 by contact 162v2 so that this relay releases and is followed by releasing of relay C20.

  The trunk circuit of office U2 is then released. In the office Ul the relay Jl de-energizes by disconnecting the driver's battery from the junction line (fig. 2)

 <Desc / Clms Page number 25>

 contact 139i2), However since in this office the relay
Bl is attracted by the loop of the calling subscriber Tnl the following circuit for attracting relay Sl is closed: earth, battery, relay S1, contacts 65bl, 64kl, 62p10, 63b1 and 58cl and earth. By closing contact 5711 when relay Jl releases, relay Vl attracts since relay C1 is not short-circuited by contact 60vl, contact 59s1 being open.

   Consequently, the trunk circuit of the office U1 remains maintained so that the established communication remains.

   In order to keep the junction circuit against any seizure, for example by conductors al and bl, the following circuit closes: earth, battery, shock coil Drl, contact 55yl, conductor bl from the junction line to the office U2 (fig. 3 and 4) Sp2 relay, contacts 105a2, 105c2 and 106d2 and earth., The Sp2 relay attracts by this circuit and while it removes the short-circuit of the winding II of the D2 relay by the contact 118sp2, it keeps the trunk line going to the U1 office and thereby also keeps the trunk circuit in the UI office from seizure.

   When the conversation between the two Tnl subscribers and
Tn2 is terminated, relays Bl, Xl- and Yl de-energize when the receiver is on-hook so that when contacts 63b1 and 65bl open, relays S1 and P10 de-energize.

   When relay C1 is short-circuited through contacts 59s1 and 60vl, relay 01 releases and following the opening of contact 58c1, relay 010 de-energizes. The sequence of operations according to which the release takes place is not of particular interest and will not be described.
Calls between subscribers of different auxiliary offices of the semi-automatic network can now be established in a similar manner. In this case also the parts of the communication establishment circuits which

 <Desc / Clms Page number 26>

 are not used for the conversation between the two subscribers are released by the operator as soon as she removes the card.

   Establishing an incoming call.

   If, contrary to the operations described above, the operator wishes to set up an incoming call and not deal with a call which is received from the main office and coming from a Tnl subscriber, she plugs in the answer form. ASt in the jack and activates its information switch but does not perform the operation of the call key which is necessary in another case.

   The relay C50 is attracted again and by closing its contact 406c50 it applies the potential of the battery to the conductor a4 so that the relay J4 of the office U4 is attracted as indicated above. The AS4 call seeker does not advance however since the E4 relay is not attracted. The closing of contact 349i4 causes the attraction of relay C40 which is blocked by contact 351c40.

   The attendant then transmits two impulses by means of her disc and the relay J4 is de-energized in an intermittent way via the relay J5 as described above. The DEW4 rotation electromagnet of the EW4 switch is actuated by contacts 562c40 and 55814. In addition, relay V4 is attracted during pulse trains. When this relay releases after the pulse train a circuit is closed for the DLW4 rotation electromagnet of the LW4 final selector as follows: earth, battery, DLW4 rotation electromagnet, contacts 359x4, 560v4, ew4 brush of switch EW4, brush lw6 of final selector LW4, contacts 356h40 and 355p40 and earth.

   Relay @ 40 is actuated by contact 363dlw4 and opens the rotation electromagnet circuit via contact 356h40. Relay H40 reacts on the rotation electromagnet as described previously until

 <Desc / Clms Page number 27>

 that the final selector LW4 reaches the contact (contact 2) marked by the ewl brush of the EW4 switch, the following circuit being closed: earth, contact 370c40, ewl brush of the EW4 switch, contact 2, lw4 brush of the final selector, contact 367q4, winding I of relay P40, brush 1w3 of final selector LW4. and by the circuit of the called subscriber, not shown, to the battery and the earth. If the subscriber is free, the P40 relay attracts in the known manner.

   The final selector LW4 remains in position by opening contact 355p40, the conversation conductors are extended and the inrush current is transmitted and stopped as soon as the called subscriber responds in the same way as described and relating to at the office U1 so that the call to the called subscriber is established.

   A call signal transmitted by the subscriber Tnl of the office Ul which, as has been described, acts on the relay A4 and which has the effect of activating the relays H5 and H6, is rendered inoperative by opening the contact 313c40 in concerning the AS4 / LW4 junction circuit when an incoming call is established by means of this circuit by the operator. After de-energizing relays H5 and H6, however, the signal acts on the second junction circuit AS4 '/ LW4' (fig. 11). The recording of the call is therefore effective in the office U4.

   This would have happened differently if the final selector LW4 had not been placed by the operator on the plots of a subscriber of the U4 office but on the junction line a3 / b3 of the U3 office. In this case the blocking circuit of winding II of relay A4 would have been disconnected by the attraction of relay D4 so that the recording of the communication at office U4 would have been canceled.

   In office U3 the relay J3 would have been drawn again after the trunk line had been extended and would have actuated the relay C30 so that the call impulse of the subscriber Tnl would have been made in-

 <Desc / Clms Page number 28>

 operative relative to the AS3 / LW3 junction circuit by opening contact 213c30. The recording of the call pulse would however be maintained by the permanent attraction of the relay A3 in the event that the final selector LW3 is placed on a subscriber line. As a variant, for example, if the final selector LW3 is placed on the junction line a2 / b2 to the office U2 the relay D3 attracted by the test circuit would have - broken the blocking circuit of the relay A3 by the contact 206d3.

   In this case the recording of the communication in the office U2 would have been maintained by the winding II of the relay A2. If besides that the operator placed the final selector LW2 on the junction line al / bl towards the office U1, the relay D2 attracted by the test circuit would have completed the registration in the office U2 and the call would not have not only recorded in the office Ul, The call of the Tnl subscriber remains recorded as long as it is not taken care of,
It can therefore be seen that the subscriber's call remains recorded as far as the auxiliary office in which the final selector is not placed by the operator on a trunk line to the previous auxiliary office for the purpose of make an incoming call,

In the other offices the call becomes operative immediately after the trunk line has been released without any further maneuver on the part of the subscriber in the sense that if for example an incoming call has been established by the operator to a subscriber of the office U1, the sub office call signal is transmitted from the sub office / to the main office as soon as the call is released as established in the previous paragraph.

   When the operator removes the plug all the parts are returned to their resting position in a manner which does not

 <Desc / Clms Page number 29>

   -will not be described here in detail. Since in the office U1 the relay A is kept attracted, the relay An is also attracted so that the relay Mtl attracts through the contact 7an of the office Ul and transiently applies the potential of the beet to the driver al by closing its 42mtl contact so that relay A2 is attracted by its winding 1 in the auxiliary desk U2 and is blocked by its winding II.

  By closing the contact 112a2 the relay Mt2 is drawn into the auxiliary office U2 so that the battery is transiently connected to the conductor a2 by the contact 143mt2.

   Therefore the relay A3 attracts in the office U3 and is blocked by its winding II so that after the relay H3 has been attracted, the potential of the battery is transiently applied to the conductor a3 by the contact 243h3 with the aim to actuate relay A4 of office U4. Ce.relais also attracts and is blocked by its winding II. The relay H5 is attracted by the closing of the contact 510a4 and by then applying the potential of the battery transiently to the driver a4 by its contact 339h5 it actuates the relay A5 of the main office. This is blocked by its winding II and lights the call lamp A1.

   A corresponding repetition of the initial call pulse will occur if the pulse recording has been maintained up to each of offices U2, U3 or U4. All the operations described for setting up this communication take place not only in the case of a call originating from the U1 office but also in the case of calls originating from other auxiliary offices. So after releasing an incoming call and regardless of which auxiliary office received the deferred call recording and regardless of the particular auxiliary office from which the call originated, the initial call pulse is repeated. without any action from

 <Desc / Clms Page number 30>

 from the calling subscriber.

   Establishment of a communication by a fully automatic subscriber and via the group selector #W,
If a subscriber forming part of the fully automatic system uses his disk to dial a number of a semi-automatic / system subscriber while an initial call impulse is recorded, he first sets the group selector GW ' to the Ue repeater.

   The repeater Ue itself is not picked up by a recorded call so that when the group selector tests through the driver c the relay C5 attracts. By opening contact 426c5, relay C60 attracts. Relay H7 attracts through contact 424c5 and opens the blocking circuit of relay A5 through contact 416h7 and disconnects call lamp AL.

  During this time the potential of the battery was applied to the driver a4 towards the auxiliary office U4 by the contact 402c60 so that in this office the relay J4 attracts and causes the same switching operations as those which were carried out when the operator cares.

   The calling subscriber can then establish a communication in the same way as the operator of the office since, because it is of the fully automatic type, it is equipped with a disc. It forms the number in the semi-automatic system by attracting relay J5 and places the individual final selectors of the auxiliary offices on the lines leading to the called subscriber in the same way as the operator. The recording of the call in the individual offices is neutralized in the same way as that described when the attendant establishes an incoming call.

   It can therefore be seen that the subscribers forming part of the fully automatic system can directly dial the number in the semi-automatic system even if calls have been recorded provided that the operator does not take care of them.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 31>

   When the communication between a subscriber of the fully automatic system and a subscriber of the semi-automatic system is released, this happens in the same way as if the operator withdraws her card, the initial call impulse is repeated at the position of. operator exactly as happens after releasing an incoming call made by the attendant.

   Fig. 12 represents another embodiment and indicates a variation of the circuit of the call seeker AS4 provided in the office, auxiliary U4, and it is called in this case AS6.

  Only the parts relating to the call finder are shown in this figure, the other parts corresponding to the circuits' are shown in figs. 7 and 8.

   From this figure it can be seen that when the initial call impulse is sent from the previous office U3 by the conductor a3, the relay A6 attracts and is blocked by its winding II by the contact 504a6. If the junction circuit comprising the call finder and the final selector is free, the following circuit is established: earth, battery, relay H8, contacts 511p6, brush ew7 of the switch, thermo-contact 525thl, contact 110a6 and earth. Via this circuit, relay H8 attracts and closes the following circuit via contact 512h8: earth, battery, resistance Wi17, contact 514das6 of the rotation electromagnet DAS6 of the call seeker AS6, contacts 512h8, 511p6, brush ew7 of the switch, thermo-contact 525thl, contact 510a6 and earth.

  In parallel with the resistance Wi17 is connected the rotation electromagnet DAS6 of the call searcher AS6 by contact 515r6. The DAS6 rotating electromagnet attracts and moves the call seeker one step forward.

   By opening contact 5i4das6 during this pulling, relay R6 is attracted and disconnects the rotation electromagnet DAS6 by contact 513r6. Thanks to the interaction between the relay R6 and the rotation electromagnet DAS6 the call finder AS6 advances step by step until it reaches

 <Desc / Clms Page number 32>

 the calling line.

   The following circuit is then established: earth, battery, relay C6, contact 515a6, brush as3 of the call finder AS6; winding I and II of relay P6, contacts 527h8 and 528c40 and earth. By this circuit the relays C6 and P6 attract and carry out the switching operations already described, and referring to the corresponding relays in fig. 7 and 8. The difference in this case is that the following circuit is established by closing contact 518p6: earth, battery, relay Q4, brush as4 of call finder AS6, brush ew3 of switch, contact
518p6 and earth. Due to the attraction of relay Q4 the associated final selector which is connected in the same way to selector LW4 in figs, 7 and 8 advances until it reaches the contact marked by brush as5 of the call seeker AS6.

   During this time the potential of the battery was applied to the conductor a4 by the contact 523p6 after the pulling of the relay P6 and this caused the switching operations in the main office HA (fig. 9 and 10) as already described. . This battery potential is disconnected again after the Sp60 relay has drawn through the 519p6 contact.

   The difference between this arrangement and the call seeker AS4 of fig. 7 is that the caller AS6 places itself on the calling line immediately after receiving the initial call impulse and therefore keeps this line and furthermore causes the final selector is placed in a corresponding position which in the case of fig. 7 only takes place following a maneuver on the part of the operator. There is therefore no possibility for the trunk circuit to be seized by the operator for an incoming call or to be used by a subscriber of the fully automatic type for the purpose of establishing a call.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 33>

   The operator at the main office then requests information and establishes communication as described above. A separate preparatory operation of the call key is not necessary. These switching maneuvers serve to attract relay C40 (fig. 8), which remains attracted as long as the junction circuit is not used. For this purpose, provision has been made in FIG. 12 a thermal relay Th1 which is energized by contact 526c40 of relay 040. Contact 525thl of the thermal relay then breaks the starting circuit of the call seeker AS6.

   This connections, the meaning, following:
When, when the call is released, the junction circuit is released either by removing the plug by the attendant or after releasing the conversation circuit, the 525thl contact remains open for a certain time (for example one minute) so that in the event that a new recorded call is present the trunk circuit cannot be used immediately via the contact
516a6. The start of the AS6 call finder and therefore establishment and hold are postponed for a certain time. During this time the operator or a subscriber of the fully automatic type has the possibility of establishing an incoming call.

   Since switch EW4 (fig. 7 and 8) is not in its rest position for such a call, the call impulse cannot become effective immediately after - cooling of thermal relay Th1 and closing of contact 525thl since the EW7 broom (fig, 12) has left its rest position.

   As a result, the release of a connection device which has been used is deferred for a certain time by the thermal relay so that it cannot be used again immediately by a subscriber who has a registered call request, but at otherwise well

 <Desc / Clms Page number 34>

 whether there are recorded calls, the connecting device remains available for a short period of time, for example, to subscribers of the fully automatic type or to the operator in the office for the purpose of establishing calls in- trants. The arrangement shown in FIG. 12 can be applied to any of the auxiliary offices in which a thermal relay dependent on the corresponding point of the starting circuit is provided.

   In each auxiliary office the release of the connecting device after the call is then deferred for a certain time so that during this time interval even if calls are recorded in the system the operator of the office or the subscriber of the fully automatic type can issue a call number in the system. Instead of influencing the thermal relay by the cohtact of relay C a work contact of a call finder test relay (P6, 531p6) can be provided instead.

  The thermal relay is then only energized when a communication requested by one of the subscribers of an auxiliary office has been established by the attendant, but the thermal relay is not influenced when an incoming communication is established by the attendant or by a subscriber of the fully automatic type in which case the call searcher is not contacted. After such a communication, the subscribers of the semi-automatic type have immediate access to the connection circuits.
