 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

     on a prévu pour la grille un guidage par coulisse en lui-même connue

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

La fig. 1 est une élévation latérale partielle d'une machine pour larécolte des pommes de terrecomportant un soc et une grille adjacente de triage ou de transport en deux parties ;
La fig. 2 est une vue en haut de la machine par l'avant ;

     'La fig 3 est une élévation latérale partielle d'une machine pour la récolte ides pommes de terre dans laquelle l'extrémite antérieure de la grille est guidée par des coulisses.! ... , . ¯

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

 EMI5.2
 il est recommandabie de prévoir dea arrondis sur les bielles;
La présente Invention résulte de Inobservation suivante:

   les obstructions par suite d'accumulation dés fanes se produisent beaucoup plus facilement dans le champ d'action du soc a) que dans le champ d'action de la grille de transport d, e. Ceci provient du fait que le soc freine le mouvement de la terre qui s'écoule sur   lui,;   par suite de la friction qui s'exerce entre.la terre et le soc;

     'ce soc a donc une action de freinage, tandis que la grille
 EMI5.3

 <Desc/Clms Page number 6>

  MACHINE FOR HARVESTING POTATOES.

   The present invention relates to machines for harvesting potatoes, comprising a sorting or transport grid in two parts adjacent to the .soc, this grid being suspended from the frame of the machine by connecting rods, triangles or springs. blade, or being partially guided behind the scenes.

   With machines of this kind for harvesting potatoes, the potato tops which are in the field cause noticeable difficulties because they accumulate against the prop or support (or supports) of the share which works in front of the oscillating grid.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

   In machines for harvesting potatoes with a cutting wheel. it is known, in fact, to arrange and place the prop of the share so as to avoid an accumulation of tops; however the conditions are then different, because the cutting wheel which is in front of the stanchion throws the haulms to the side.

   According to the present invention, in machines for harvesting potatoes of the type indicated above, the difficulties mentioned are eliminated, by deferring the prop of the share to the rear, in the field of action of the grating. sorting or transport. ' As a result, the stanchions come at the same time to be placed behind the front connecting rods which carry the grid, and which, as a result of their movement, have much less tendency than the fixed stanchions to drag the potato tops.

   According to the present invention, the earlier connecting rods are provided, in a manner known per se, with cutting edges so that the haulms which arrive in front of the connecting rods are cut; or else these connecting rods are strongly rounded on their front face, 'either given to them the desired shape,' or to a coating, so that the tops can 'be easily rejected.' Bringing the prop back into the field of action of the transport grid is even advantageous when, instead of the front connecting rods,

     a guide by a slide which is known in itself is provided for the grid

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

An embodiment of the present invention has been shown, by way of example on the accompanying drawings in which!
Fig. 1 is a partial side elevation of a machine for harvesting potatoes comprising a ploughshare and an adjacent two-part sorting or conveying grid;
Fig. 2 is a top view of the machine from the front;

     Fig 3 is a partial side elevation of a potato harvesting machine in which the front end of the grid is guided by slides. ...,. ¯
In the three figures, the reference marls have been used for your equivalent pieces.!
The share a in two parts is connected to the frame b of the maohine by means of props or supports c largely brought back to the rear The sorting or trâns- port grid d, e is suspended from the frame b by the pairs of connecting rods f, g.

   In figure 3 the pair of front connecting rods is replaced by a sliding guide h which is fixed by a support au'bâti µ of the machine Optionally, the guide slides h can also be provided directly on the prop c of the share, ¯ so that 1 ', we save the support i The pair of connecting rods g which provides the summend, attack by its two lower articulation points * k, 1 the two parts d, e of the grid,

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

 while the lower pair of connecting rods t or the sliding guide h simply cooperate with the upper part d of the grid.)

   At the anterior end, the upper part ± and the inner part a of the grid are however joined to each other by an elastic link m. In Figures 1 and 3 we can clearly see the arrangement according to the present invention of the prop of the share; starting from the soo, this stanchion is first brought back strongly and it is only in the field of action of the transport grid d, e that it is curved from above and that it is fixed to the frame b.

   Figure 8 further shows that the plowshares c on both sides embrace the pair of front connecting rods f, so that, therefore, the props are on the outside of the connecting rods! On the other hand, FIG. 3 shows an arrangement in which the sorting or transport grid is supported at its lower end, by a sliding guide This arrangement has, due to the fact that the support i of the sliding guide is rejected behind the props c , the advantage that the region where the accumulation of potato haulms can occur is carried over even further than where connecting rods exist. As a result, the accumulation region is brought back to the rear as far as the stanchions c which, according to the present invention,

   are within the scope of the transport grid. ' A more pronounced simplification results from the arrangement of the slides h directly in the props c or on these

 prop up.

   According to figure 1, the connecting rods ±, are fitted. 1 on
 EMI5.1
 their 3aentrieure? of costs n which have the role of cutting the tops ;! The connecting rods f can, however, also have, on their front face, strong rounded edges, so that the tops cannot catch on and which they slide laterally as a result of the movements of the connecting rods.) The knives are used when the tops are at a state which allows it to be isolated.! later, when the cutting of the tops is no longer possible,
 EMI5.2
 it is advisable to provide rounding on the connecting rods;
The present invention results from the following non-observation:

   obstructions due to haulm accumulation occur much more easily in the field of action of share a) than in the field of action of transport grid d, e. This is due to the fact that the share slows down the movement of the earth flowing over it; as a result of the friction exerted between the soil and the ploughshare;

     'this coulter therefore has a braking action, while the grid
 EMI5.3
 triage oudetranport e $ erae sur7.a terre 'comes sorting transport exerts on earth which comes from the share an action which tends to produce a faster displacement.) It is for this reason that the props of the coulters c have been transferred to the field of action of the grid d, e, because then the haulms liable to be stopped by the stanchions are constantly removed again by the action of the moving earth When the grid is

 <Desc / Clms Page number 6>

 suspended at its front end by connecting rods, the props o are curved so as to pass around these connecting rods,

   so that the fixed props do not interfere with the favorable action of the oscillating connecting rods f.

   Instead of a two-part share, one could naturally also use a one-piece cutter *
