 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

   Les figures 4 et 5 montrent une réalisation sui- vant laquelle le transporteur i est supprimé et la plaque   r.   d'extrémité présente dee entailles s dans le but de faciliter le mouvement des fruits dans la direction de la flèche W; dans cette réalisation, le   moteur d.   actionne d'une manière diffé- rente les cylindres a et b ;

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

 lustré précédemment dans les dessins annexés, plusieurs modi- fications pratiques peuvent être apportées dans les réalisa- tions de l'invention, comme par exemple en actionnant les cy- lindres directement par le même ruban en toile, cuir, etc. en supprimant le   transporteur- 1-.   et en disposant sur le côté de la machine une caisse longue pour recueillir les fruits, en recou- vrant les cylindres b de toile, de gomme, etc., en adoptant une disposition différente pour la série des cylindres, etc., etc.;

   R   e   v e n d i c e t i o n s .

  "Device for removing the stem from cherries and in general from fruits with a stem".

   In industry, it is often necessary to remove the stalk of fruits which have one, for example for cherries, olives, plums, etc. This operation which must be carried out on a very large number of fruits currently involves the use of a great deal of labor and a very long time and this has a dangerous influence on the preparation of the fruits for operations relating to their usage.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

   The present invention relates to a device by means of which the stems of the fruit provided with a stem are detached without damaging the fruit and with a mechanical operation of rapid and safe execution. The invention consists essentially in the use of two substantially cylindrical bodies rotating in opposite directions, at least one of them preferably being provided with an outer surface making it possible to increase the friction of this. surface on the stem of the fruit, the two cylindrical bodies being arranged in contact and the fruits coming to rest on top of these cylinders, while the stem is grasped between the two cylindrical bodies and pulled so that it is detached from the fruit.

   Based on the fundamental principle stated above, several constructive provisions can be adopted; those illustrated by way of example in the accompanying drawings show a series of elements arranged one after the other as indicated above, so that it is possible to discharge at one end of the together the mass of fruits from which we must remove the stems and obtain that all the fruits, during their movement along this series of devices, are before or afterwards separated from the stem.

   The device is further characterized in that the substantially cylindrical bodies are arranged with their axes slightly inclined so that as the cherries are detached from their stems they can roll towards the lower end of the cylindrical body. to arrive on an endless transporter that brings them to a container collects a
The device is further characterized by a further endless conveyor disposed below the rod detachment devices and intended to transport the rods into another collecting container.

   In the accompanying drawings, two embodiments of the subject of the invention have been shown, only by way of example.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

   Fig. 1 shows a plan of a machine which uses the principle of the invention.

   Fig. 2 shows a vertical section along the line A-A in fig. 1 and
Fig. 3 shows a vertical section parallel to the previous one along line B-B in fig, 1.

   FIGS. 4 and 5 show a second embodiment according to the invention, respectively in plan and in vertical section along the plane C-C.

   Referring first of all to the embodiment following Figures 1 to 3, it can be seen that a series of cylinders a and b are supported so as to be able to turn, on supports 1; the cylinders are rotated by means of toothed wheels arranged at one end of the cylinders; the movement is obtained by means of. engine d and a belt transmission mounted on a pulley e applied to one of the cylinders.

   The cylinders a rotate in one direction while the cylinders b. turn in the opposite direction. If a cherry g is arranged so that its stem engages between two cylinders a and b in correspondence with the part where we have a downward movement, we realize that the stem is pulled down, while the fruit rests on the cylinders. In this way, the stem is detached from the fruit.

   The fundamental principle indicated above is nevertheless completed by the addition of a tape g, for example of canvas, leather, rubber, etc., which rests on at least one of the cylinders a or b and which extends a certain distance over the contiguous cylinder on the side of the surface which has a downward movement. In this way (fig. 3) the stem is grasped in a much more energetic manner for its detachment from the fruit.

   As can be seen from figure 3, it is preferable that the means (the rollers c) which serve to give a tension

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

 to the tape and to adhere it to the cylinder, are arranged so that the fruit stems are gripped in a curved position, which increases the efficiency of the device.

   The fundamental principle indicated above can be achieved in different ways, either with several elements of canvas, leather, etc., or with a single element of canvas, leather, etc., suitably arranged so as to pass over it. cylinders in odd position and to pass under the cylinders in even position. The first embodiment, however, makes it possible for the stems to be detached from the fruit so that the stems are brought into a collecting container and the fruits are brought into another collecting container.

   In the second embodiment, there is provided, according to what has been illustrated in the accompanying drawings, an endless conveyor i on which, thanks to the inclination of the rolls a and b. the cherries without the stem roll so as to be collected in the container m; and, below the active path of the rolls a and b, there is a second endless conveyor o mounted and operated by the rolls p which conveys the detached stems to a second collecting container / for the stems.

   Figures 4 and 5 show an embodiment in which the conveyor i is omitted and the plate r. end has notches s in order to facilitate the movement of the fruit in the direction of the arrow W; in this embodiment, the motor d. operates cylinders a and b in a different way;

   fruits without their stems will fall in the direction of the arrow. in a collecting container placed sideways to the machine,
Although, for descriptive reasons, the present invention has been based on what has been described and it-

 <Desc / Clms Page number 5>

 previously illustrated in the accompanying drawings, several practical modifications can be made in the embodiments of the invention, such as for example by actuating the cylinders directly by the same ribbon of canvas, leather, etc. by removing the carrier- 1-. and by arranging on the side of the machine a long box to collect the fruits, by covering the cylinders b with canvas, rubber, etc., adopting a different arrangement for the series of cylinders, etc., etc .;

   the modifications indicated and still others to be considered included within the scope of the invention.

   R e v e n d i c e t i o n s.
