<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

A method of manufacturing a stainless steel container and a container obtained by said process.
The invention relates to a method of manufacturing a stainless steel container with a reinforced bottom.
This process is characterized in that the outer surface of the bottom of the stainless steel container is notched, so as to form there by lifting tongues not detached from said bottom, and at least partially covers said surface with the aid of 'a metal applied in the molten state, which coats said tabs and reinforces said bottom.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The invention also relates to a stainless steel container, with a reinforced bottom, obtained by the above process.
The accompanying drawing shows an embodiment of a container obtained by the claimed process and two variants.
Fig. 1 is a section of said finished container, of which FIG. 2 shows the bottom before casting, FIG. 3 showing a detail of this background on a larger scale.
Figs. 4 and 5 are cross-sections of containers obtained in a manner which differs somewhat from what will be described with regard to FIGS. 1 to 3.
The container according to fig. 1 to 3 consists of a stainless steel receptacle 1, the bottom 2 of which receives by direct casting a reinforcing metal bottom 3.
But before performing this casting, the outer surface of the bottom 2 of the container has been prepared so as to present a certain number of tabs 4 obtained by lifting part of the metal, these tabs not however being detached from said. stainless metal background.
This preparation can be carried out by means of a series of chisels arranged in a suitable manner on a support, the whole in order to allow all the tabs 4 to be lifted in a single operation. Fig. 3 shows on a larger scale a section through one of these tongues, the thickness of the bottom 2 being reduced at 5 by the material removed and lifted, in order to form the tongue 4.
Instead of casting the added part in the usual way, that is to say by surrounding the bottom of part i in stainless metal with a shell and pouring the added metal therein; we can proceed as follows:
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Having prepared the base of the container i in stainless metal as mentioned above, the filler metal is poured into a mold corresponding exactly to the shape of the desired reinforcement base and with pressure the base 2 of the container is applied. 1 against said molten metal.
The added base can be of any alloy, it can also be cast iron, aluminum or an alloy of these metals. according to the slightly modified embodiment of FIG. 4, in addition to the filler metal 3, there is provided a metal plate 6 covering the latter and thus constituting the outer surface of the reinforced base. Spacer members can then be provided between the bottom 2 of the stainless steel container 1 and the bottom plate 6, for example stacks of steel washers 7, held together and to the plate 6 by electric welding. It is understood that the bottom 2 of the container 1 has been prepared in the manner already indicated.
Fig. 5 shows another solution in which there is also an outer plate 6, but the latter is provided with ribs 8 which can form a network, be arranged radially, in a spiral or even in concentric circles. These ribs are also previously fixed to the plate 6 by electric welding.
In the two embodiments which have just been described last, it is useful to tin plate 6 and the elements which are attached to it, or at least to tin the parts which have been subjected to the process. electric welding and which, as a result, may exhibit slight oxidation.
The plate 6 may not entirely cover the reinforced sling, just as the added part may not re

completely cover the bottom 2 of container 1 or, conversely, overflow all around the latter.
