Description

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

   REVENDICATIONS.

  Insulated tank for the vaporizer of refrigeration machines with absorption by dry process with periodic operation.

   The invention relates to an insulated tank for the vaporizer of periodically operated dry absorption refrigeration machines, in which the refrigerant tank is stored, expelled from the baking absorber during the heating period and condensed in the tank. condenser, is accumulated,
We already know that it is necessary to insulate the tank in order to reduce as much as possible the loss of cold, useful, The insulation of known tanks is constituted by any of the usual heat-insulating materials: for example relaxed cork, cork bark, kieselguhr, slag or glass wool etc.

   All these materials certainly exert a heat-insulating action, but nevertheless have a certain thermal capacity, so that they are able to absorb or store in proportion to their mass a certain quantity of heat, this entails

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 serious drawbacks with regard to the insulation of the tank of the kind mentioned above. The refrigerant which, during the heating-up period, is expelled from the baking absorber and then condensed in the condenser, is still relatively hot when it enters the tank, so that, despite a good insulating action of the heat insulating substances mentioned above, it transfers a considerable amount of heat to the heat insulating material itself.

   During the absorption period on the other hand, the temperature of the refrigerant in the tank corresponds to the low temperature of the vaporizer, so that the heat insulating material of the tank absorbs large amounts of heat, which for the refrigerator , are lost as useful work. The heating of the heat insulating material of the tank during the heating period immediately represents a decrease in the efficiency of the refrigeration machine because, during the absorption period, this quantity of heat must again be subtracted from the insulating material.

   Thanks to the present invention, these drawbacks are remedied by the fact that the insulation of the tank consists of a double-walled envelope, preferably of glass, inside which a vacuum has been created. In addition, in order to avoid the radiation of heat towards the interior and the exterior, the internal faces of the walls of the envelope are advantageously treated so as to become mirrors. This can be achieved in a known manner, preferably by covering the surfaces with a layer of silver or mercury. The insulation of the tank is thus carried out in the same way as in a Dewar or Weinhold bottle.

   In order to have the reservoir itself resiliently inside the double-walled casing, it is recommended to insert an elastic part between the reservoir and the casing. This part will preferably be made of a heat-insulating material: for example corrugated cardboard, in order to

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 fishing for direct heat transmission between the tank and the insulating jacket.

   The principle of the present invention can be achieved, in a simple manner, by constituting the double-walled casing by two cylinders slid into one another and kept at a distance from one another. While one of its ends is closed, the other remains open and is sealed, preferably by an insulating filler, so as to be airtight. An additional advantage is achieved in this way: in fact, the air and humidity are stopped and cannot penetrate into the tank, so that practically any corrosion, to which during usual insulation, the tank is strongly exposed, is completely avoided. A mixture of kieselguhr or cork and bitumen can be used as an insulating filler.

   It is recommended to connect all pipes. tubular connected to the reservoir and to place the supports provided in certain circumstances for the reservoir within reach of the open double-walled casing, sealed by a filling insulating substance. In this way, a smooth, double-walled envelope is obtained which can be produced without difficulty.

   Other suitable improvements and constructions of the object of the invention are explained with the aid of the accompanying drawing, which shows an exemplary embodiment of the invention.

   Figure 1 shows a front view of a refrigeration machine, designed according to the invention, the tank being cut off.

   Figure 2 shows a side view of this same refrigeration machine.

   Figure 3 shows a view of the tank alone.

   Figure 4 is a longitudinal section through said reservoir.

   Figure 5 is a section taken along the line V-V of Figure 2.

   The refrigeration machine is constituted, in the known manner,

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

 by a cooking absorber 1, a condenser 2 and a vaporizer formed by a reservoir 3 and a brine receptacle 4 in which the vaporizer coils 5 are arranged. The condenser consists of a reservoir containing a tubular coil 6, which is surrounded, in a known manner, by a material 7, for example phenol, which, during the heating period, absorbs the heat of condensation of the refrigerant, which then acts as the heat of fusion, and therefore then, during the absorption period, transfers the heat of fusion to the ambient medium, for example to the outside air, and thereby freezes.

   The refrigerant, in the gaseous state, expelled during the heating period, arrives, via the tubes 8 and 9, in the cooling coil 6 of the condenser, is condensed there and then is expelled, through the tube 10, in the tank by the pressure prevailing in the baking absorber during the heating period. From there, the refrigerant goes, via line 11, into tubular coil 5 of brine container 4, then is brought again, through line 12, into the tank.

   Said tank consists of a tube, made of cast steel 13, which, by adding the two caps 14 and 15, is formed as a closed tank. It is isolated by a double-walled casing consisting of two cylinders 16 and 17 slid into one another; these are closed at one of their ends, so as to match the shape of the cap 14 of the tank . The space between the two cylinders is separated from the outside and a vacuum is created. The inner faces, facing each other, of the two walls are made shiny by means of mercury. Corrugated cardboard, not shown in more detail, is disposed between the inner cylinder 17 and the reservoir.

   The open end of the double-walled casing is closed by an insulating filler 18 consisting of a metal.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 5>

 mixture of bitumen and cork or kieselguhr. 'All the tubular conduits are connected to the cap 15 of the reservoir and are immersed in the heat-insulating substance.
