<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

La..i'ig.
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

Winch with fine adjustment. for: crane winches, warehouse winches and other hoists with which loads are lifted. individual, the condition of precise lifting is often imposed, ie the winch must give the load a particularly slow speed with which it can be deposited and lifted gently. Precise adjustments of this kind have heretofore been most often produced by means of operable gear trains, or by the use of planetary mechanisms.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
One can, according to the present inventian, obtain the same goal in a notably simpler manner and that by the fact that this winch is operated with a double motor which has two groups of different poles, the poles of which are in the ratio 1 : 4, 1: 6 or more and of which the lowest speed is the fine adjustment speed, while the high speed is the main speed.
We know engines with two numbers of dilirerents (Dahlander assembly). It has also already been proposed to use them for cranes but the numbers of revolutions of these motors are in the ratio 1: 2 and these motors have not been used for this reason for precise adjustments, but on the contrary they serve to lift. loads with a double speed, that is to say to use to a large extent the engine power.
Contrary to this, in the new winch, when the fine tuning speed is put into service, the matrix works with a lower power corresponding to the smallest number of turns while the ratio of the numbers of turns noticeably greater makes it possible to descend. with regard to speed, for the same load; to such an extent that it is possible to deposit even sensitive loads smoothly and to carry out difficult assembly work, for a 1: 2 number of turns ratio of known crane motors, no precise adjustment can be produced because the main speed is too low or the fine adjustment speed becomes too high.
The present invention provides, on the contrary, a means of obtaining precise adjustment without the use of clutches, planetary mechanisms to be operated, regulating mechanisms, etc., this fine adjustment being able to operate as slowly as desired. and being produced simply by the package of the engine.

As a lifting motor with two windings, the Known motor with sliding armature can also be used. thus becomes a lifting motor and a fine adjustment motor at the same time and brakes both movements with the same sliding armature brake.
The motors have two different poles. are generally a little larger than single-speed engines. It is however possible to accommodate them. in the drum of a winch and this in the case of small hoists in which, in consideration of the cable diameter obtainable and in consideration of the convenience of manufacture, the drum must have a relatively large diameter.
The drawing shows two examples of realization. La..i'ig.
1 shows a rolling trolley while FIGS. 2 and 3 represent a small motor-driven lifting device incorporated in the device.
In the case of fig. 'the m.oteur 1 with sliding armature actuates, by, 1' the intermediary of the shaft 2, the pinion 3 through which the toothed wheel 6 'of the drum is set in motion by means of the toothed wheels 4 and the pinion 5. The drum 7 is arranged in the middle between the motor and the mechanism and is supported in the frame 8 of the mobile carriage. The hoist motor has two windings A and B, which are shown schematically above and below the motor stator:
For the maneuver of the motor, use is made of a controller whose development is. shown at 9. From this, the motor windings receive current by means of the inverter C, the coil 10 of which is controlled by the contact blades 11 and 12 of the controller 9.
In each direction of lever movement. hand 13, i.e. both during lifting and lowering, winding B is first put into service in position 1 and through this winding the motor receives the smallest number of turns. By rotating the
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
control 9 until one of the positions 2, the ouoine lu receives current by means of the line 14, reverses the contacts 15 and consequently brings the current to the winding A. The change of connection takes place instantaneously, so that the brake 16 of the sliding armature motor does not come into action.
The two windings and B are tuned in such a way that they both give approximately the same tensile force axially opposing the spring 17. The sliding armature motor can therefore be realized as a twin motor and a fine tuning motor without having to. The advantage of the easy control of the brake is lost, one can optionally provide a damping cylinder for the sliding movement of the motor.
Instead of the controller according to fig. 1, the winch can also be serviced using a one-hand switch according to fig. 3, which is to be preferred in particular in small lifting devices according to FIG. 2. The reference figures in fig. 2 and 3 correspond essentially to those of FIG. 1. The assembly also corresponds to that of the first embodiment. If, for example, the push-button 2u is pushed to the right, the contacts close at 21 and 22 and the automatic switch C receives current through the intermediary of the end-of-lowering switch 23.
If the push-button 20 is moved even further in the same direction, the contacts are also closed at 24, the read coil receives current, the inverter is moved and the motor winding is then switched on. current, so that the transition from the fine tuning speed to the main speed occurs. When the push-button 27 is pivoted to the left, the operation is the reverse of that described, the contacts 25 and 26 come into action, the inverter C receives current by means of the end-of-lift switch 28 and so first winding B is put into operation and then winding A.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
The use of the sliding armature motor also has the advantage that in the case of: possible stoppage, of the inverter C between the contacts, i.e. in the event of the two motor windings being switched off, the The motor is braked immediately since the axial component of the stator field is missing and therefore the brake spring 17 applies the brake 16. The load therefore cannot. fall,
