Method and wire guide for making a spiral winding on an electrical conductor for hollow telephone conductors.
Until now, the cords arranged on the electrical conductors have been applied by means of a winding bracket or more simply and more judiciously by a simple guide around a metal wire. Such a device is shown for example in Figure 1 in which 1 designates the plate of @

spinning, 2 the spool of the cord, 3 the hollow shaft of the thread guide with the connection 5 for passing and guiding the metal thread arranged in the spinning head 4. 6 denotes a tube arranged above the thread guide, this tube receiving the cord reserve spools. Through this tube passes the metal wire 8 around which the cord has been wound.
9 designates the cord to be wound and 10 the metal wire around which the cord is to be wound.
This device has so far given absolute satisfaction. But the mounting, which is now frequently required, of large diameter cords around relatively thin conductors has the effect that the metal wire around which the cord is to be disposed deforms into a helix. Spinning squares which rotate with the thread guide eliminate this drawback, it is true, but in turn have the drawback of rapid wear.
The present invention which is represented in FIG. 2 constitutes an improvement of the thread guide by the fact that the tube 6 'of the bead magazine 7' is provided with a connector 11 'whose mouth is open at the turn in the form bead, and that in addition there is provided in the tube 6 'a recess 12' in which the cord 9 'can be tied to the conductor 10' at the start of work or in the event of a break in the cord *
The bead 9 'is introduced at the beginning, or after its breaking parallel to the metal wire 10' in the connector 11 ', it is tied in the window or the recess 12' on the metal wire 10 'and it is wound up. then after switching on the machine around the conductor inside 'connection 11'.
The edge or mouth of the fitting collects the tensile force exerted by the cor- @

gift that arrives, so that this effort is no longer exerted on the conductor, as it happened previously.
By this means, the conductor no longer undergoes deformation by torsion.
ABSTRACT -------
The invention relates to a method and a wire guide for the manufacture of a cord helix around an electrical conductor without deformation of the latter and is characterized in that above the wire guide of the cord, there is placed in the extension of its axis and fixedly in space, a tubular connector into which is introduced the conductive metal wire, which passes through the hollow shaft of the spinning device, and the cord which is used for constitution of the helix around the conductor, so that the bead first touches the bead-shaped edge of the orifice of the connector, before coming into contact with the conductor, following which one then insert the conductor and the cord parallel to one another in the opening of the connector so that they are tangent to each other,
Following which the cord is tied in the window on the thread, then the machine is started, following which the cord is arranged in a helix around the thread without the latter being deformed.
