<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Conformément à l'invention, un basculement vers deux cotés est rendu possible, tout en évitant de débrayer la tringlerie . genouillère située sur le côpé opposé à celui du déchargement par une variante de la construction du dispositif à levier coudé, qui consiste dans le fait que l'élément inférieur de la tringlerie à genouillère est guidé de façon à pouvoir être déplacé longitudinalement dans un fourreau pouvant tourner autour dùn axe coincidant avec l'axe de pivotement du levier coudé ;

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

"Tilting device for vehicles"
The invention relates to a tipping device for vehicles, of the type comprising a toggle linkage serving to support the body or the body of the vehicle on the unloading side and to tilt said body or body, the lower element of this linkage. capable of rotating by its lower end around a fixed point.
According to the invention, the lower element of the linkage constitutes one of the arms of a lever with two arms which rotates around the aforementioned fixed point and by the rotation of which the toggle linkage is bent sideways towards. outside, for unloading. By this means, in comparison with known tilting devices which are provided with toggle linkages intended to be folded inwards during unloading, a driving force control and transmission device is obtained which is notably more favorable and which, moreover, has a greater transmission ratio.
Another characteristic of the invention resides in the fact that the toggle linkages and the arms or links articulated to the lower elements of said linkages are connected to the control shaft by an additional linkage ensuring a further increase in the transmission ratio, @ The two-armed lever, consisting of the lower element of the toggle linkage and a second arm, can be established as an angled lever ,,
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Another characteristic of the invention lies in the fact that the power arm of the bent lever is approximately horizontal in the normal or upright position of the body and that an intermediate link connects this arm to an arm which extends the control lever and which, in the two extreme positions, makes with said lever and the intermediate link approximately a straight line which is approximately vertical in the normal position of the body and approximately horizontal in the unloading position.
By this means, the control of the tilting device is made easier in that the handle or hand lever serving to move the set of linkages receives only a downward pivoting movement as well when unlocking the body from the initial position only when unlocking this body from the final position, the weight of the body of the man who performs the maneuver being used for this movement; and the lever is again partially straightened, from the lowest position it occupies during the unloading movement, during the last part of this movement, by the effect of the automatic final tilting of the body.
If the power arms of the angled levers, which arms are connected to the foot elements of the toggle linkages, are directed downward in the normal position of the body or body of the vehicle, oh obtains the same action due to the fact that, using traction links articulated to short arms forming part of angled levers which pivot transversely to the vehicle frame, these power arms are connected to the arms of the control levers which are directed vertically in the rest position and whose each is supported on the side of the vehicle chassis opposite to that where the envisaged lever is located.
According to the invention, tilting to two sides is made possible, while avoiding disengaging the linkage. toggle located on the opposite side to that of the unloading by a variant of the construction of the angled lever device, which consists in the fact that the lower element of the toggle linkage is guided so that it can be moved longitudinally in a sleeve which can turn around an axis coinciding with the pivot axis of the elbow lever;
and this element receives the pivoting movement with the aid of the presser arm - arranged approximately in the same direction - of the angled lever which, by means of an extension in the form of a ratchet passing through a longitudinal hole in the sleeve, between meshed with a corresponding notch of the lower element of the toggle linkage.
In addition, according to the invention, the appropriate positioning of a sliding surface extending the bottom of the tipper body etc ... of the vehicle is made possible due to the fact that a flap or bottom valve pivoting on the sides of said body is connected by means of a link to the upper element of the toggle linkage in such a way that it hangs vertically downwards in the normal position of the body, while in the tilted position of the body, it constitutes an extension of the sliding surface, the inclination of which
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
corresponds to that of the bottom of the box.
Two embodiments of the present tilting device are shown schematically in the accompanying drawings, in which:
Fig, 1 shows the chassis and the tipping box un.wagon tipping body.
Fig. 2 shows part of FIG. 1 in an intermediate position, the hand lever having pivoted by the maximum angle.
Fig. 3 is a view similar to FIG. 2 in the unloading position.
Fig. 4 shows a wagon with a tipping body, the latter being locked in the load position. charge, La'fig. 5 shows the same wagon in an intermediate position, the hand lever having rotated by the maximum angle.
Fig. 6 represents the wagon the bucket of which has tilted into its lowest position.
In these drawings, the device serving to effect the tilting of the body or bucket towards one of the two sides has been shown in a relatively detailed manner, and the complementary members of the device, necessary to enable the tilting to be effected on each side. 'have only been shown schematically.
According to fig. 1 to 3, the body 1 of the tipping box trolley is arranged in such a way that it can tilt with the side discharge flaps or flaps 2 around the support bearing 3 of the frame 4 and, in the load position, this body is supported by the arms 5 of the tilting device.
The operating lever 6 is wedged on a longitudinal shaft 7 which is mounted so as to be able to rotate in the frame 4. An arm 8 wedged on this shaft 7 cooperates with a stop 9 which limits the amplitude of the pivoting movement. of arm 8 in one of the directions. The arm 8 is articulated, at its free end, to a connecting rod 10 which connects it to a lever 11 pivoting about an axis 13, which lever is in turn articulated, via the shaft 13, d 'a sleeve 14 and a lever 15, to the upper element 5 of a toggle link 5,12, so that the lever 11 constitutes an angled lever with the lower element 12 of said linkage,
A more detailed explanation of the tilting device according to the invention will now be given by describing its mode of action.
To start the tilting movement, the hand lever 6 is pivoted down from position I (fig, 1).
This has the effect of eliminating the position of overrun of the neutral point of the toggle linkage constituted by the arm 8 and the rod 10 and, by means of a crank action, the arm 11 of the elbow lever 11-12 is pulled upwards. , so that, due to the rotation of said crank lever, the body is also pulled down by the upper element 5 (articulated to said body) of the toggle linkage 5-12, until that position II has been reached, position in which the arm 11 and the rod 10 are in a straight line, (fig.2).
At this point, which is found almost reaches the
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
At the end of the tilting movement, the tilted body continues to fall under the action of its own weight to its final position III, so that the toggle linkage 5-12 rotates the arm 11 so as to move away from neutral to bring it to position III (fig. 3), which has the effect of automatically establishing, this time, another position for exceeding neutral in the toggle linkage formed between the rod 10 and the arm 8, this position being limited by a stop 17 so that the case, which itself tends to straighten out in the empty state, is retained in this position.
By lowering lever 6 a second time from position III to position II, this neutral point is removed and the tendency of the body to return to its normal position is increased by controlling the mechanism passing through the same positions. in reverse order.
In the normal position I, the body is again automatically locked by the neutral position of the toggle linkage 10-8, this position being limited by the stop 9.
The rotational movement of the elbow lever with the head element 5 of the toggle linkage 5-12 outwards has the effect of ensuring a multiplication of the force exerted on the bottom wall of the body and, in combination with the crank effect of the arm 8 and of the rod 10, an extremely large transmission ratio is achieved between the control shaft of the hand lever and the crank lever.
In the case of a wagon according to the invention, the body of which is established to tilt on both sides, this body is ppurvue, on each side of the wagon, with a tilting device established in the manner previously described, each of the two devices working in a completely independent way of the other. The foot member 12 of the toggle linkage 5-12 of the arrangement just described is freely supported within a sheath 14 which freely rotates around (the pin 13, and the arm presser 15 of the angled lever, engages by a tooth 16 with this lower element 12, during the rotational movement, and thus transmits the tilting movement.
The presser arm 15 is furthermore connected via a slot and pin assembly to the sleeve 147 so that, in the load position I, the toggle linkage 5-12 is locked by the sleeve 14, without however being locked. in the case of a tilting towards the opposite side by the tooth 16 of the pressing lever 15, so that, in the latter case, the lower element 12 of the linkage 5-12 partially comes out of the sleeve during the tilting towards upwards, without the necessary guiding action being reduced thereby? 'see Figs. 2 and 3).
The lower flap 18, which is supported to pivot laterally on the side member of the body 1, and which is connected to the upper element 5 of the toggle linkage 5-12 by a push arm 19, is placed. vertically in the load position 9 ;, at the end of the tilting movement, that is to say in the unloading position, this flap occupies, under the action of the upper element 5 of the toggle linkage 5-12, a position such that it constitutes an extension of the bottom of the bucket. During the return movement of the bucket, the bottom flap 18 is automatically returned to its vertical position by means of
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
arms 5-19.
The articulation of the control lever of the bottom flap can also be provided in other places, depending on the construction of the tilting device used in each particular case,
According to fig. 4 to 6, the tipping bucket wagon is mainly composed of the tipping bucket M and the frame U. On either side of the bucket M are toggle linkages e ', d and e', , whose upper element e or e 'is articulated to the side wall of the bucket, respectively at 1 and k, while the lower element d, d' of each of the linkages is supported to pivot around fixed points 1 and m of the chassis.
These lower elements each constitute one of the arms of a lever, the opposite arm of which is connected by traction rods c, c 'to arms b, b', respectively, which are wedged on the control shafts x and y. hand levers a, a ;, respectively
The hand levers are locked by clicks f, f 'which are mounted on a common shaft with locking levers g, g' and which, under the action of a spring, both lock the bucket and the hand levers,
The mode of action of this device is approximately the following:
Before the tilting movement begins, the elements of the toggle linkage e '- for example, located on the side from which the tilting maneuver will be performed, is removed from each other, removing the pin . articulation h '. By raising the locking pawl f at the same time, the lever g locking the bucket is pushed downwards, said bucket and the operating lever thus being both made free on the side served.
If the hand lever a is now pivoted down from its normal position I, the neutral position of the arms b and c is removed by the bending of this knee and, due to its action crank lever, the lever d is subjected to a strong pull, which has the effect that the upper element e of the knee lever e, d which is on the tilting side pulls the bucket 'downwards with a double action of crank and a large transmission ratio, until the moment when, due to the displacement of the center of gravity, this bucket loses its balance and tilts itself by driving the system of levers to the position unloading ,.
During this action the hand lever is passed from the initial position I to the unloading position III through its lowest position II.
The return of the bucket to the normal position is therefore also carried out again by lowering the hand lever from position III to position II, so that the bucket regains its equilibrium, that said bucket tilts in direction. reverse and the linkage is returned with the hand lever to rest position I via position II.
Before reaching the rest position the lower part of the bucket hits the automatic locking lever, so that the locking pawl 1 remains subject to. pulling the hand lever until the bucket and said lever have been returned to the rest position. The elements of the linkage are then coupled to the toggle e, located on the side where the maneuver has taken place, so that the rolling position and load of the bucket is ensured and locked in a double manner,
