 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

    Par le gaz chaud introduit en bas dans le récipient extérieur, le récipient intérieur est chauffé sur toute sa hauteur, mais en particulier sur sa partie inférieure contenant la masse épuratrice, tandis que le gaz est refroidi au cours de son trajet à travers les tuyaux de refroidissement dans une mesure telle qu'il entre

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

  Gas purifier for gasifiers of anthracite and coke vehicles.

    The present invention relates to gas purifiers for gasifiers of anthracite and coke vehicles, which consist of two approximately cylindrical receptacles surrounding each other by leaving a gap, the outer receptacle of which comprises a connection. for the gas to be purified and the inner receptacle comprises, at its lower part, a purifying mass intended to adapt the harmful particles of the gas and, at its upper part, filter bags, as well as, behind them, a connection leading to the engine for purified gas.

  In these purifying devices, the gas arriving from the gasifier enters the lower part of the outer container and arrives from the latter directly into the lower end of the inner container, through which it passes through the purifying mass and the filter bags, and is then led to the engine. These devices have the drawback that moisture from the gas to be purified is deposited in the purifying mass, which is for example constituted by charcoal dust or a

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 analogous material, whereby the mass itself is already clogged or else the wet charcoal particles are carried away by the gas stream and separated on the filter bags where they create the danger of the filter cloth becoming clogged.

   To overcome this drawback, it has already been proposed to heat the upper part of the inner container with hot gases, for example exhaust gases, which are introduced into the upper part of the outer container, in order to heat the gas. 'rising in the inner container and preventing separation of precipitates. However, this measure is not satisfactory because the gas arriving from the gasifier arrives from the lower part of the outer container directly into the lower part of the inner container, that is to say into the scrubbing mass. .

   However, this mass always has a relatively low temperature, so that it is inevitable that precipitates will form there, even when the gas has already been cooled to a certain degree before entering the scrubber. . In addition, care must be taken, in known gas scrubbers, that the gas does not exceed a determined temperature when it enters the scrubber, otherwise there would be the danger of the filter bags burning. In the known devices, a remote thermometer has therefore been provided, depending on the state of which the conductor directs the gas arriving from the gasifier, by means of butterflies or the like, so that this gas is conducted through the purifier or directly, or through cooling tubes.

   If the operator neglects to observe the thermometer, the filter bags will billow easily.

  In accordance with the invention, these difficulties are eliminated owing to the fact that the two containers of the purifier are completely separated from one another and that the hot gas arriving from the gasifier is introduced at the bottom into the outer container, then is discharged. from the latter to the top by passing it through cooling pipes or similar devices, from which a
 EMI2.1
 conduit leads the cooled gas to the lower end of the inner vessel, hence the scrubber.

    By the hot gas introduced at the bottom into the outer container, the inner container is heated over its entire height, but in particular over its lower part containing the purifying mass, while the gas is cooled during its journey through the pipes. cooling to such an extent that it enters

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 always in the inner container and in the purifying mass at a temperature lower than that which prevails in this mass and in the receptacle which contains it. Any separation of moisture from the gas inside the inner container is thus excluded.

   Precipitates only form in the outer vessel and in the cooling pipes, but no kind of moisture can get from the outer vessel into the inner vessel, because the two vessels are separated from each other. while, on the other hand, in known devices, moisture separated in the outer container is easily entrained by the gas in the inner container. Since the gas to be purified always arrives sufficiently cooled in the inner container, that is to say in the purification chamber itself, the danger of the filter bags being burnt is also excluded and the thermometer of monitoring required so far is superfluous. In addition, the butterflies customary hitherto for tempering gas are omitted.

   In order to separate the two reoipents from one another, use is made, in accordance with the invention, of a tubular lining body inserted between the lower ends of the reoipents and which is held in position in a removable manner by the cover of lower closure of the outer container. The cover is provided with a connection for the introduction of the cooled gas into the inner container passing through the inner packing body.

   By means of the inner lining it is possible to convert gas purifiers already in use of the type in question quickly and inexpensively according to the invention.

   An embodiment of a gas purifier according to the invention is shown schematically in section by way of example in the accompanying drawing.

   1 designates the inner container and 2 the outer container, surrounding the first by leaving a gap, which make up the gas purifier. The purified mass 3 is located in the lower part of the inner container 1, while the upper part of the filter bags 4, through which the purified gas enters the collecting chamber 5, from which it is reaches the engine, passing through manifold 6 and a

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

 safety filter. A tubular inner liner body 7, by which the two containers 1 and 2 are separated from each other, is mounted between the lower end of the inner container 1 and the lower end of the outer container 2.

   This garnish? has at its upper edge an annular groove in which fits the lower edge of the inner container 1. The gasket is held in its position removably by the closure cover 8. A seal ring 9, provided in the cover ensures a leaktight closure of the container and of the internal seal 7. The entry of the gas arriving from the gasifier into the external container 2 is effected by a pipe 10 provided at its lower end. The gas thus transfers heat to the purifying mass 3, and to the intermediate chamber formed between the two receptacles, rising along the inner receptacle 1 over its entire height. From the upper end of the vessel 2, the gas passes through a pipe 11 to the cooling pipes 12, in which it is again cooled and the moisture is separated.

   To drain off this moisture, the cooling tubes have exhaust valves or removable covers at their lower ends. From the cooling tubes, the purified and cooled gas passes through a pipe 13 to an opening in the cover 8 and, from there, through the inner gasket 7, into the interior of the inner container 1. The cover 8 has a corresponding pipe 14, which is separably connected to conduit 13.

  Where appropriate, the tubing 14 can also be constituted by a flexible pipe, which allows the removal of the cover 8, without separating the connection with the duct 13.
