 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

  Receiver of T.S.F.

   A receptor for T.S.F. whose input oscillating circuit, tunable by a variation of the self-induction of the tuning coil, is coupled to the antenna circuit by a capacitive coupling obtained using a capacitor shunted by a coil whose the self-induction is several times greater than the maximum self-induction of the tuning coil.

   In T.S.F. receptors With capacitor tuning, the antenna circuit is generally inductively coupled to the self-induction coil of the input oscillating circuit.

   This inductive antenna coupling is not suitable for receivers whose tuning is obtained by modifying the self-induction, because the coupling would depend too strongly on the tuning frequency. Also in the receivers of the last mentioned species is generally used a capacitive antenna coupling and preferably a so-called current coupling in which a coupling capacitor, inserted in the antenna circuit, is at the same time part of the circuit. input oscillating circuit.

   However, this capacitive coupling has a drawback: at the frequency of the network and at the harmonics of this frequency, the coupling capacitor constitutes a fairly large impedance, so that the hum voltages which are transmitted to the antenna by the live parts of the receiver or, capacitively, by the mains, cause a high voltage on the grid of the first tube. To obviate this drawback, it has been proposed to bypass the coupling capacitor by a coil whose self-induction is several times greater than the maximum self-induction of the tuning coil (5 times greater for example).

   At the mains frequency as well as at the harmonics of this frequency, this additional coil practically constitutes a short-circuit but for the oscillations to be received, it hardly affects the operation of the coupling capacitor. The invention is based on the idea that one can take advantage of the presence of this additional coil to significantly improve reception without having to resort to additional mounting elements. Receivers of the species described in fact have a drawback: at increasing frequency, the transmission of the oscillations picked up by the antenna to the control grid of the first tube decreases very sharply.

  This phenomenon is mainly attributable to the fact that the damping of the input oscillating circuit increases with increasing frequency. Thus, the ratio of the voltage of the control grid of the first tube and the electromotive force of the antenna is, at the lowest frequencies of the mid-wave range 1.5 times

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 larger approximately than at the @axima frequencies of this range.

   According to the invention, this drawback is obviated by coupling, inductively, the additional coil to the tuning coil and by causing this coupling to depend on the self-induction of the tuning coil in such a way that the transmission of the oscillations received to the control grid of the first tube is at least approximately constant throughout the range of frequencies swept by the tuning coil.

   When the variation of the self-induction of the tuning coil is obtained by the displacement of a ferromagnetic core, this core also crosses the field of the additional coil so that the core penetrates into the additional coil as it leaves the tuning reel. Thus, the coupling between the tuning coil and the additional coil increases as the self-induction of the tuning coil decreases, which provides additional coupling at the maximum frequencies of the tuning range.

   The description of the appended drawing, given by way of non-limiting example, will make it clear how the invention can be implemented, the particularities which emerge both from the text and from the drawing, forming, of course, part of said invention.

   Fig. 1 represents a part of a TSF receiver whose antenna 1 is connected to the earth via a coupling capacitor 2 which constitutes, with the tuning coil 3 and the fixed capacitor 4, an inserted oscillating circuit in the control gate circuit of a high frequency amplifier tube or frequency changer tube 5.

   In order to avoid the hum voltages on the control grid of the tube 5, the coupling capacitor 2 is shunted by an additional coil 6 which for the hum frequencies constitutes a short-circuit. The self-induction of this coil is several times larger than the maximum self-induction of the tuning coil 3.

   According to the invention, a uniform transmission of the oscillations received is obtained by inductively and appropriately coupling the additional coil 6 to the tuning coil 3.

  Fig. 2 shows an exemplary embodiment of this coupling.

   In the device shown in FIG. 2, the tuning is obtained by moving the ferro-magnetic core in the field of the tuning coil 3. The core is also located in the field of the additional coil 6 and this so that the core 7 enters the coil 6 when it leaves coil 3. As the self-induction of the tuning coil decreases, the coupling between coils 3 and 6 increases, so that at the maximum frequencies of the tuning range, we obtains an additional coupling.
