<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

"Device for controlling the weft breakers of a loom !!.
@ The present invention relates to an improvement in weaving looms and more particularly in weft breakers with which they are provided.
It is known that weaving looms are equipped with a weft-breaking device which disengages the loom when the pick breaks or runs out.
In old trades and even in some current trades, the weft breaker is unique and is of the so-called central type
In this case the needles with the forks of the weft breaker feel the pick in its part under tension and therefore do not produce rings in the thread., This advantage is counterbalanced by a drawback: The weft breaker operates towards the middle part the length of the pick; therefore if the weft breaks in the vicinity of the boxes the weft breaker will be inoperative and it will not disengage the loom.
In order to remedy this drawback, it has been proposed to split the frame breaker and therefore to use two
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
so-called lateral synchronized walking weft breaker.
Unfortunately, this arrangement, while being more sensitive than the first, has the drawback of requiring very delicate adjustment in order to avoid the formation of rings, given that the needles of the weft breakers feel the pick in its loose part.
In addition, in the current trades equipped with two weft breakers, the weft breaker carriages perform two distinct operations, that is to say, on the one hand, control the operation of the weft breakers themselves when there is pick inserted, and on the other hand, disengage the loom when the pick is missing. Therefore, in the normal course of the loom, that is to say when there is an inserted pick, the carriages make a large displacement, and in the exceptional case, that is to say when the pick lack, these trolleys perform a reduced displacement.
This consequently results in rapid wear of the weft breaker carriages.
The present invention relates to a loom with two weft breakers in which these drawbacks are avoided, on the one hand, by means of an original method of intervention of the two weft breakers, on the other hand, by means of a special arrangement and control of the weft breakers and their carriages avoiding the formation of rings in the unstretched part of the thread.
For this purpose, according to the invention, the intervention of the weft breaker is such that when passing a pick to be inserted, one of the weft breakers is immobilized, while the other operates, that is that is, feel the pick.
According to a feature of the invention the immobilized weft breaker is always the one that the pick to be inserted meets
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
first when it is launched.
The selection of the weft breaker that works, that is to say that feels the pick, is controlled by the evolution cycle of the picks, that is to say by what is called the "pile-up" of the picks. shuttles, or a phrase that defines the alternate launch of the shuttle back and forth.
Regarding the arrangement and control of the weft breakers and their carriages, the invention provides for remedying a. the disadvantage of rapid wear by causing the weft-breaker carriages to move relatively large during the exception period, that is to say when the pick is missing, and practically zero displacement in the no rma the.
For this purpose, the invention provides that the operation of the weft breakers is carried out by an independent control of the carriages, the latter only intervening to disengage the loom when the pick is missing.
Other particularities will become apparent during the description of the drawings appended to this specification and given by way of non-limiting example of an embodiment according to the invention.
In these drawings:
FIG. 1 represents a general diagram of the device produced according to the inventions
FIG.% And FIG. 3 are side and front plan views, respectively, showing the needles of the weft breaker and the carriage in the position allowing passage for the shuttle.
Figure 4 and Figure 5 are side and front plan views, respectively, showing the needles
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
of the weft breaker and the carriage in the position where said needles are in contact with the pick.
Fig. 6 and Fig. 7 are side and front plan views, respectively, showing the needles of the weft breaker and the carriage in the event that there is no pick in the shed.
By examining the figures, we see that the needles 1 of the weft breaker are carried by an oscillating part 2, pushed by a connecting rod 3 itself controlled by the lever 4 fixed on the shaft 5.
At the other end, this shaft 5 is provided with a pallet lever 6 which can be pushed by the connecting rod 7 which is controlled by the square 8, the connecting rod 9, the lever 10 and the cam 11 fixed on the shaft. angled 36. The spring 12 keeps the whole system under tension and the lever 10 in contact with the cam 11. The control of the second weft breaker is similar to that of the first.
The carriages 13-13 'of the weft breakers (figure 1) are made integral by the connecting rod 14 and are controlled by the connecting rod 15, the lever 16, the connecting rod 17, the lever 18, the connecting rod 19, the lever 20 and the cam 21. This is wedged on the elbow shaft 36. The spring 22 keeps the whole system under tension and the lever 20 in contact with the ram 21. The selection of the weft breaker is made as follows: According to the weft breaker which must operate the connecting rod 7 is presented to one or the other of the paddle levers either 6 or 6 '. This choice of lever 6 or 6 'is always in synchronism with the position of the shuttle, to send into the crowd, that is to say is controlled by what is called the "piling" of the shuttles. For this purpose, on the free end of the connecting rod 7, rests, by its beak, a weight lever 23.
This weight lever 23 can be lifted or
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
released by the lever 24 fixed on the shaft 25. The latter is controlled by the protection 26 which rests on the cover of the shuttle box. The spring 27 constantly urges the connecting rod 7 in the opposite direction to the action of the weight lever 23.
The operation is carried out as follows: Let us assume the flapper of the pick loom (front dead center of elbow 36) and walking towards the blade (rear dead center of elbow 36). In this case the shuttle must pass from right to left. When the shuttle 38 departs (see FIG. 1), the weight lever 23 is lifted by the protection 26 resting on the open gearbox cover.
As a result, the connecting rod 7 biased by the spring 27 is placed vis-à-vis the vane lever 6. The shuttle 38 is launched into the crowd. The cam 11 raises the connecting rod 7 which, pushing the paddle lever 6, transmits the movement to the needles of the left weft breaker. The needles da weft breaker rise and deliver passage to the shuttle, Meanwhile, the carriage 13 is held open by the cam 21 (see Figures 1, 2 and 3). As soon as the shuttle has passed under the needles, the cam 11 drops the connecting rod 7 and the needles of the weft breaker. Cam 21 then releases carriage 13.
At this time two cases can arise.
First of all there is a pick in the crowd. It can be seen from FIGS. 4 and 5 that the needles, while descending, meet the pick 37. The latter, stopping the needles in their movement, simultaneously immobilizes the oscillating part 2. At this moment, the carriage 13, released, by the cam 21 and biased by the spring 22. comes to rest on the stop 28 of the oscillating part 2. The leaf then returns forward.
Cam 21 opens carriage 13 again; the needles are lowered and placed under the bottom board. The fighter
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
arrives at the pick (front dead center) and the cycle of movement of the weft breaker begins again.
The second case to consider is where. there is no decite in the crowd (figures 6 and 7).
The needles 1, going down, do not meet the pick and will be placed immediately under the bottom board.
The stop 28 passes in front of the carriage 13 and, when the latter is released by the cam 21, it passes in front of the stop 28 and comes to rest on the frame of the weft breaker. this movement is transmitted to the disengaging mechanism of the trade, for example to the latches 33-33 'of the reverse gear by the stop 29. integral with the carriages 13-13', meeting the stop 30. itself integral with the mechanism 33-33 'reverse gear latches
During this movement of the left weft breaker, the needles of the right weft breaker hide under the bottom board and conversely the left weft breaker will be at rest and its needles will slip out under the back board when the right weft breaker is in motion, that is, when the shuttle is launched into the crowd from left to right.
The control of the mechanism which has just been described can be modified and replaced by any mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic or other control in relation to the cover of the box and fulfilling the functions described with regard to the mechanical control shown in the drawings.
In normal operation, that is to say with pick in the crowd, the displacement of the carriage 13 is reduced to a minimum and is reduced to a simple play, thus avoiding wear.
