 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

   IMPROVEMENTS IN THE ASSEMBLY OF ELECTRICAL MEASURING EQUIPMENT.

   The present invention re-orte to improvements to the assembly of electrical measuring devices and, in particular to the assembly of the mobile equipment of said devices.

   The object of the invention is to protect the pivots of the apparatus in question and, indirectly, to reduce measurement errors due to friction.

   The apparatus which is the object of the invention is of the mobile coil type in which the pivots each bear in a conical recess of a flat spring. In addition, in accordance with the invention, said pivots are surrounded by members which normally are not in contact with them, but which, upon impact, prevent any excessive displacement of said pivots.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 EMI2.1

  A shock in alignment with the axis of the pivot will be supported by the end of the housing of the pivot, while a shock in other directions may be exerted on the side of said housing, since the pivot carries in a conical recess, which can be moved away from said pivot by a lateral displacement of the latter :.

  But since, according to the invention, the free space around the carrying of the pivot is suitably limited, said pivot will never completely take out of the cavity in which it rests and it will return to its position. place immediately after ... seeing the shock.

  The flat spring mentioned above is preferably fixed at one of its ends ... it-: s by a screw and its other end on a stud screw, which can be easily adjusted to spare the correct amount of play at the end.

  As the pins thus protected can be sharper, the errors due to friction are proportionally reduced, which gives the apparatus better operation. the surround of the pivot lojement is fixed -The adjusting lever of the spring of eo: #;: ..;. m.àie, said spring being, in fact, welded one. clamp which clamps said lever a. through a ;;.;: - 1i. # :? e 1i = Jl # n- te.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

   FIG. 3 is a plan of the same device with the two parts of the case removed.

   The apparatus is contained in a case of molded material in two parts: a cylindrical part II, closed at the front, except for a glazed window 12 and a disc 13 which fits tightly into the open rear end. cylinder and fixed to it by screws. Two threaded rods 14, fixed. rigidly in the rear disc 13, extend forward, to form the supports of the mechanism, of which the frame 15, of molten aluminum or other non-magnetic material, fits over said rods and is held there by the nuts 16.

   The magnetic system consists of a permanent magnet 17, pole pieces 18 and an outer ring 19.

   The magnet has the shape of a cylinder. He is loved diametrically. The pole pieces are in the form of arcs around each of the poles of the magnet. The outer ring 19 is concentric with the aid and its pole pieces, so that an arcuate air gap is formed between them, the center of the two opposite arcs which constitute said air gap coinciding with the axis of the magnet cylindrical.

   The voice coil 20 is rectangular in shape, it embraces the magnet so that two of its opposite sides are in the air gap. As said coil is pivoted on that of its axes which is parallel to said opposite sides and as. said axis coincides with that of the magnet, the coil can rotate in hell while always keeping the magnet inside, which amounts to saying that the helper is placed inside the cylinder generated by the rotation of the coil on its axis.

   The invention relates in particular to the mode of suspension of the voice coil. Other inventive ideas relating to the measuring apparatus which is the object of the present invention are more particularly described and represented in the patent application filed by the Applicant Company on January 17, 1947 for Il Per-

 fectionements to electrical measuring apparatus, the drawings of which are identical to those appended to the present application.

   A pivot housing 25, of non-magnetic material, protrudes outward in the middle of each end of the coil 20.

   From the end of each of said housings emerges a pivot point 26, conical, of hardened steel. Said points, at the opposite ends of the axis of the spool, are supported in small conical recesses, formed in flat springs 27, each fixed to the frame 15 by a single screw 28, at only one of its ends. - moths. At the birth of the spring surrounding the screw 28, the metal is hollowed out in an arc 29, in order to reduce the rigidity of said spring.

   The free end or end of the spring 27 is provided with an opening which fits over the head of a screw 30, so that the flat internal part of the metal can engage with a collar surrounding the head of the screw. screw 30. In this way, by turning screw 30, the pressure or spring 27 at the end of the pivot point 26 can be precisely adjusted.

   Surrounding the pivot housing 25 at a certain interval, so that in normal setting there is no ink contact with them, a shock guard 31 is housed in a V-shaped recess or frame 15 and is held there by a spring. hold 32.

   Such a method of mounting the coil provides protection against shocks, regardless of the direction of application thereof. Thus, a shock in alignment with the axis of the pivot will be supported first of all by the flat spring and, then, by: The shock guard 31, when the housing of the pivot hits it at the end.

   On the other hand, shocks in all other directions will be supported first by a flat spring, when the point of the pivot goes up the side wall of the recess forming a conical bearing and then by the shock guard 31, when the pivot housing hits it from the side. As the interval between the housing 25 of the pivot and the shock guard 31 is limited (it is, in effect, less than the radius of the opening of the conical recess), the tip of the pivot 26 does not extend out.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 5>

 never from the conical recess and resiliently returns in place immediately after the impact. As, on the other hand, the pins thus protected can be sharpened more finely, the errors due to friction are reduced.

   The two pivot housings 25 are surrounded by flat spiral springs 33, the inner ends of which are anchored to the frame and thus serve to position the coil and to return it after deflection. The index 34 is fixed to the coil and moves on a graduated scale 35. The index is zeroed by angular adjustment of the inking of the outer ends of the return springs. Said anchors are in fact constituted by arms 36 fixed to the shock guards
31 and, consequently, capable of rotating with them, with a certain degree of frictional resistance provided by the rear retaining spring 32.

   There is, at the end, a rear coarse adjustment, which can only be changed when the mechanism has been extracted from the cylindrical case 11 and has passed the rear closing disc 12.

   A fine adjustment is provided on the front spring, which can be modified at any time by rotating the part 37 with the slotted head, on the front of the housing 11, said rotation being transmitted to the anchor lever 36 by a slotted transmission and eccentric spindle.

   Although the invention has been described and represented above in connection with one of its particular embodiments, it is understood that it is in no way limited to the example provided and remains susceptible of multiple variants.

R E S U M E . ABSTRACT . The invention relates to a. improvements in the assembly of electrical measuring devices and, in particular, in the assembly of the mobile equipment of said devices. Its main purpose is to protect the pivots of said movable unit against impact and, as a secondary purpose, to reduce errors due to friction. It relates to another invention, designated during the description, and, more specifically, relating to the magnetic circuit of the same measuring devices. The invention envisages, for the aforementioned purposes, the support of the tips of the pivots of the apparatus in conical recesses made in flat springs with adjustable tension and the surrounding of the housing of each pivot by a shock-guard member. which prevents the pivot from coming out of its conical bearing, in the event of an impact, exerting in any direction. The protection thus provided to the pivots allows them to be sharpened more finely, which reduces measurement errors due to friction.
